I really needed to service my laptop and thought it would be a great time to test out my GoPro (hopefully for future live mixes). Please be aware that the video isn't perfect and my editing skills are very limited however I'm sure this will help others perform a service on the same / similar model. I decided not to use the liquid metal on the GPU since I don't have problems with GPU temps so I just applied some decent thermal paste there. Even though I knew applying liquid metal to the CPU could go horribly wrong I weighed up the pros and cons and decided it was worth a shot.
The CPU results are AMAZING! Literally dropped temps by 25-30°C! Before I was constantly getting thermal throttling and insanely high temps. Now the CPU runs at max core clocks indefinitely without the temps ever getting over 77°C! Imagine the performance gains if it was possible to apply an overclock to my CPU! Crazy stuff.
WARNING! Although applying liquid metal can give you amazing results I am in NO WAY saying you should do this to YOUR laptop. The risks of something going wrong are very high. I would only recommend this to someone who has some experience with servicing electronics.
