I just installed some GTR Ultra 2’s in my 2019 Fusion and they totally rock. I had the Diode Dynamic SL1 and they simply don’t compare. The only problem I had was trying to get the shank of the bulb into the projector housing . All I had to do is move the adjuster and the bulb just dropped in. Then a simple readjustment and I was good to go.
This is awesome! The dedication you guys have on every single vehicle, thats something incredible. Thank you so much! Just a quick question, in this case have you ever tried a HID kit in the Tacoma headlights? Wondering if you could get better results. Thanks again and keep the videos coming!
We have, and the HID kit is definitely a big improvement over stock. We're actually going to come out with an updated HID guide for these vehicles soon too. The GTR Lighting Ultra 2 bulbs performed very similarly to a 55w HID kit at 5000k in our testing. You can't go wrong with either one! -Chris W
@@HeadlightRevolution couldn't afford to do the fogs yet but next month if all goes well I will. Definitely improving the looks at night and safety being able to see so far and wide. I really wish my 2018 Volvo VNL semi truck had them
How come the lux readings for the projectors are much higher in the 25 led shootout video? If I remember correctly I believe the GTR ultra 2 was about 900+ lux and the s-v.4 was about 850 lux. Is it because those were tested in a different projector housing? Also in the same led shootout video the lux readings were over 2000 for reflectors, but then in the reflector vs projector video you guys explained why projectors are better. And yet the lux readings seem to suggest these LEDs provide better output in reflectors? I’m very confused...
Hey Henry, That's a good question! The headlight housing in each test makes a huge difference. In the 25 bulb shootout, We used a Toyota 4Runner headlight from 2014+. In this video, We are using a Toyota Tacoma headlight. Not only that, but we are testing it on a different day, from a slightly different distance from the wall. We do our best to keep these tests consistent, Unfortunately there are some factors that can affect the results. That being said, if you did the same test at home with a similar lux meter you would get a similar result. We have seen some reflector headlight housings that produce a brighter hotspot than projectors. Usually the beam pattern isn't as uniform or as crisp as a projector based headlight though, So there is a tradeoff. I hope this helps clear up the results a little bit. -Chris W
Thanks Chris! I re-watched the videos and thought that might be the case. Another thought, would you guys consider publishing on your website a library of test results among the different LEDs in different headlight housings? That would be tremendously beneficial to the consumers. I wouldn’t even mind sending in headlights for my Camry and my Sienna so you guys can test them and add to the collection.
Very good job 👍. I have 2012 tundra with Spyder headlights and h1 bulbs for low beam. I have replaced with h1 LED bulbs it improved light output over the halogen but not enough. What can you recommend, what brand of LEDs or hids?
When it comes to H1 bulbs, Your best bet would be an HID kit. You can reach out to us at Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com and we can get you what you need. If you really want a wild upgrade for your Tundra, we just reviewed the new XB LED Headlights for the 07-13 Tundra and they were amazing in person. -Chris W
LED bulbs used to perform pretty poorly in projector based headlights. This year we have seen a handful of new bulbs come out that do really well in them! -Chris W
This is an awesome video guys, thank you si muuuch? Have you guys tried some of your LEDs bulbs in the Tacomabeast sequential headlights? Curious if the SV4 or the GTR bulbs work with them.
What is the stock LED kelvin rating on factory vehicles? And why do some LEDs look purplish/blue (BMW, Infiniti, Acura) while other LEDs look more pure white (Honda, Lexus, Ford) ? Thanks!
Brian is correct, and we've seen the factory color or Kelvin change pretty dramatically depending on the manufacturer. Toyota has a different color than Ford, for example. -Chris W
Th a k you for the video however I'm a bit confused, you list specific numbers thought-out the video with regards to the brightness of each light but then in the video description this numbers are different.
I have the GTR Ultra bulbs. Not sure if they’re Gen 2 or not, but I’m happy with them. My question is do you ever test the high beams? I’m looking to upgrade them.
We usually recommend the same winning bulb in each shootout for your high beam. In this case, The GTR Lighting Ultra 2 bulb would be a good choice! -Chris W
I have a 2020 GMC Denali 3500 and I was wondering if there's any headlights to replace the factory headlights and fog lights because the ones they put on there suck the low beams don't go out more than 200 ft the light itself is very weak the high beams shine up into the sky the fog lights are virtually useless I was wondering if you've done a review on some better bulbs or anything that can replace the factory lights
Head revolution, can u guys make a video with a 2018 Gmc Yukon with the best LEDs (Plug and play) lights on the market right now for the high/low beam and fogs? I’m looking to upgrade the HIDs n halogens with better lights, but I don’t know what LEDs r the right ones!! Thanks
I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road, I was ready to purchase the GTR Ultra 2 but was told by one of your guys that I would have to drill my dust protector to make it fit. Is the 2018 Tacoma on your video a different size than my 2016 tacoma? What exactly is the part number that would fit.
I'm sorry you were told that, that is incorrect. The Tacoma's do not have a dust cover that need to be drilled. These are the bulbs that you need: headlightrevolution.com/h11-h9-h8-gtr-lighting-ultra-2/
Hey Ricardo, We'll be doing a full shootout on this vehicle soon. I would personally run either the GTR Lighting Ultra 2 bulbs or the S.V4 bulbs. They tend to perform really well in Toyota headlights and should really make a big difference for you. Send us an email at Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com and we will put together the whole build for you. -Chris W
So before I buy these will these be ok for my 2016 Tacoma sr5? The housing is obviously for the original halogen bulbs. I’ve just read different forums that do not recommend putting led in housing that are for halogen bulbs
The things you read about this are mainly pointed at those who cheap out and get horrible LED bulbs that cause glare, these are the ones you want to avoid! The whole point of our company is to be sure you avoid that garbage and only install what we know works well! The S-V.4 LED kit works amazingly with the Tacoma projector, you will not be upset at the results I assure you! www.headlightrevolution.com/2016-2020-toyota-tacoma-sv-4-led-low-beam-1517TACO-LEDHEAD.LOW-V4_2?quantity=1
Not sure what trim level / this Tacoma is. But my 2018 Limited has 3 different individual bulbs on each side. A low , high, and blinker bulb. Looks like this is pretty common. I found this video pretty confusing. Although the light quality comparisons were informative. I went for the Supernova V4 for my low beam LED bulb
Got a 2016 pure stock Tacoma (no fog lights). Been trying to find some new LED lights to replace the stock lights because I can’t see much of the road at night. Debating with the sv4 and the gtr because I have no fog lights on my truck
As you can see from the video, They are both great choices. They have different price points and different warranties that could sway your purchasing decision, but they really do great in the Tacoma.
That would be a good option, but unfortunately we do not carry LED bulbs for a headlight application under that price range. If we do get some of those, we will of course do our best to roll that video out for you!
I ordered LED fog light replacement bulbs for my vehicle and paid for expedited shipping but have never heard back from the guys. I've sent them two emails but never heard back. Also, I called them twice but keep getting a message their customer service is no longer in service. I believe these guys have gone out of business...but they got my money without giving me what I paid for. It's too bad they can't get back with me about this but I've learned my lesson.
Terry, we are not out of business, that's crazy. We've been doing this for 10 years and are bigger and better than ever. I apologize that you've had trouble getting in touch but we have been closed for the last two days to celebrate the New Year. I assure you if you emailed us you will get a response. We are answering today's emails today. So if you haven't heard back please check your spam folder.
@@HeadlightRevolution Nope, still no email. Why did I pay for the faster shipping and still haven't heard from you. Also, I tried contacting you before New Years Eve and was unable to get anyone.
@@terrylong8465 sorry I don't know the answers to your question all I can do is help you get in touch with the people who can help. Can you private message us on Facebook or something? How can I have someone reach out to you directly? Want to share your email address here?
Hey Freddy, The Carbide Canbus 2.0 bulbs work extremely well. You can find hem here: headlightrevolution.com/2016-2020-toyota-tacoma-led-front-turn-signal-bulbs/
If you're attempting to run switchbacks in the new body style tacoma's they will not run white as your DRL does, you will have to hardwire the turn signal to the DRL in order for it to work properly. otherwise youre better off going with a regular white or amber LED bulb.
I need to replace my regular lights on my new 2013 4runner. What kind of bulbs does it take and what do you recommend? Regular headlights ,high beams, fog too
We havent had the chance to compare those housings yet, hopefully we will be able to get a video going for that down the road! We will keep you posted!
Hi I have a Tacoma TRD 2020 what LED light will fit want the best one like you were talking about in the video high and low and fog are they all the same build in a 2020 TRD Tacoma? Thanks Pete
Converting to any LED or HID kit will not be DOT compliant. To remain DOT compliant, we would recommend going Morimoto XB LED headlights: headlightrevolution.com/2016-2020-toyota-tacoma-xb-led-headlights/ If your Tacoma is used for off-road purposes, the best LED for you would be the S-V.4 bulbs. You can find those here: headlightrevolution.com/vehicles/toyota-tacoma/headlight-upgrades/
Before I go out and buy 3 sets (6 bulbs) of one of these, you DID say that they all fit the low beam, high beam, AND fog lights correct? 2018 SR5 here.
I have linked the page that has all of the products you are talking about listed for your vehicle, I would recommend the S-V.4 LEDs for the headlights and there is only one turn signal kit on that page for your vehicle! Let us know if you have any other questions, we are here to help! Link: www.headlightrevolution.com/japanese_trucks/tacoma/tacoma_16_21
Thanks for helping blind oncoming drivers. Not discounting your tests on lux, but installing LED bulbs in a Halogen projector is dangerous. Utilizing a modified H9 or a high efficiency H11 will throw more usable light down the road and NOT blind/endanger oncoming motorists. Just sayin...
Too many LED headlight bulbs, one of the reasons I will stick with standard bulbs. The standard for led is not set yet, 200%-1000% brighter blinding oncoming or rear viewing other drivers.
A big problem we see is people not properly aiming the headlights on their vehicle after upgrading them. That'll always cause glare and be annoying on the road. -Chris W
@@HeadlightRevolution can't you do a demo on how to aim those replacement bulbs. I'm sure most people out there just know how to buy and instal and not to buy, instal and aim. Thank you in advance.
Hey there, we can totally help you with that! Although we can not recommend LED or HID for street use in those headlights, if this is for offroad use we can totalyl get you some recommendations! I will need to know the year of your Tacoma, and then I can get you some recommendations!
Although they will fit, we can not recommend this for on-road use, as these bulbs are not street legal. If you are using this in an offroad application, you can totally get these for your headlights and they will work great! If you would like to look into some of the street legal options, we have those as well so just shoot us an email! Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com
You will want to go with either the Ultra 2 LEDs or the S-V.4 LEDs, they will get you the best light output and beam pattern out of all the other LED bulbs! Let us know if you have any other questions, we are here to help! Thank you and have a great day!
