I'm actually a strap maker and I can tell you, this is maybe the highest quality strap I saw in a Chinese watch, so definitely they paid attention to this part.
NO, no, no. A 'flyback' chronograph is one in which when the reset button is pushed in the correct order - automatically begins the timing process again without having to go through the process of pressing the start button again - thus allowing for immediate and repeated timing of several events which run back-to-back. The term 'flyback' DOES NOT mean what you think it means or described. PLEASE look this up for further clarification. The ORIGINAL Blancpain Air Command IS an actual 'flyback' chronograph and it is a very nice function though it is also very expensive. Secondly, the Air Command by Blancpain IS NOT a homage watch to itself. I am not certain that even makes sense as Blancpain was the ONLY watch to make this design of which it originated. That is wrong. In fact, the Blancpain was the FIRST watch of this design to make a chronograph for the air services division of the Navy and the British Royal Air services. There were originally ONLY 12 made and Blancpain did not get the contract so they were not made for the general public until the 1980's and it was NEVER superseded by anything similar or by anyone else. Lastly, if you do not prefer a mechanical watch, please do not disrespect all of the time and effort it takes to manufacture all of those mesmerizing parts and wonderful gears, bridges and cams to make a very beautiful and complicated watch. That is simply disrespect at its worst. Kindly do not do that.
Firstly thanks for the great info Adam, I hope that it's useful to viewers who want to learn. I'm learning all the time and appreciate the info. I do argue your point about the current release not being a self homage. I contend that re releasing historic models is in my view exactly that. Many manufacturers do this. The Bulova Moon watch is a great example as the original did not have the high frequency quartz movement. I would say that it's not a homage if it's exactly the same watch as the original but I doubt many are. Lastly I mean no disrespect to mechanical watches, I do like them and am wearing one right now. The channel isn't meant for people who can afford the best elite tier watches however and it's certainly true that in a budget watch a quartz movement is a more viable purchase. Cheap mechanical movements are a bit of a lottery and servicing is an important consideration and significant cost.
@@thecheapwatchchap9554 You make many true and valid points - and to some degree I sit corrected. (I would STAND but it is more difficult to type!) You are correct that a homage watch CAN be put out by its original manufacturers and the examples you give are true to form. The Omega Speedmaster (Moon Watch) of today does in no way (in my opinion) resembles the original and can only be said to be an odd throwback homage. Point taken. I too own quartz watches that I am truly endeared by. (Especially the solar powered ones) with their increased accuracy, dependability, durability, thinner profile and (let's face it...) pizazz!! Because I am now an exclusive chronograph guy - all of this matters. Yet, when I was a child (almost a century ago) there were no quartz watches and I saw quartz decimate the watch industry. Even today I own what I refer to as my "bubblegum" quartz chronograph which is largely a plastic and base metal quartz watch that looks terrific! (I call it 'bubblegum' because it seems like a prize from one of those old nickle bubblegum machines which were prevalent in my youth!). It is a low beat chrono that keeps perfect time and LOOKS expensive - but (let's face it) it's a TOY. Yes, I wear it once a week! Still, I have an appreciation for even low end mechanical watches - the Valjoux (now ETA) 7750 &7733 are very dependable and trustworthy. I like the Venus 175 (now Seagull 1901) movements as they are mostly well established and no longer as expensive - but VERY BEAUTIFUL. I am not so trusting of the (so called) "in-house-movements" because - WHO KNOWS what they put in there! (It's a SECRET!) Still there are other brands worthy of noting - but - YES you are again correct in that mechanical movements are a bit more delicate and must e worn with reverence. Perhaps THAT is why I like having them on my arm: REVERENCE and RESPECT for a time gone by. (See?? That's what happens when you get old like me!) LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED! Count me in!
Only got as far as 7.27, that is not a "flyback" as you demonstrated, it is a run of mill chrono. Google Flyback to understand how they are supposed to operate.
Hi, yes I have been corrected by other viewers. It reminds me of the days where I thought that "deployant" clasps were called "deployment" clasps. I had the mistaken belief it just referred to the second hand flying back instantly!
I wonder about getting the sterile version of this watch. Looks a bit cleaner. In terms of homages, these watches were originally made to military specs, as was the submariner.
Yes I normally do, normally there hidden charge that shows up at checkout. But interestingly enough not in this case. No clue why (maybe waived above a certain threshold) it's not a huge amount though.
OK, you fooled me into this Video - this is NOT a working Flyback. Its just a crapy Quartz Clone of a famous Watch. If you would understand more about Watches, you would not have bought that one (most likeley you havent and it is just advertisement and they gave you this onb for free), and instead bought the Version with Seagul Column Wheel Chrono and Swanneck Regulator.
Well I have had one of those Seagull powered chronograph's. Mine (Alpha Daytona Homage) was a nice watch. It gave me no trouble with occasional wear over perhaps three years. Trouble is that although they are very fine indeed they are more fragile than this quartz movement. When it breaks down or requires a service it will simply be uneconomical to repair. The service cost will exceed the market value of your watch. And no...it's not an advertisement. If you understood more about..you tube..paid for promotion must be flagged as such.
