Honda HRV repair Key fob and system warning light. Faulty start stop button fixed by cleaning dirty oxidised contacts. You can also replace the button. It costs about $25.00 from ebay. Make sure you use a generous amount of the dielectric cleaner, otherwise problem can recur.

Perfect tutorial!!! I did it exactly as you did. I ordered the part from Amazon for like $37 . I got the trim removal tool. And I just removed the old one and plugged in the new one. Now no more switch problems! The fix took me like literally 5 minutes and I did it all by myself (with your help) glad to save so much time and money 💰 . Thank you for this video!!

You can reuse the old button. Just spray the contact with a generous amount of electronic contact cleaner and it will work as new.

This video is so helpful! The Honda dealership wanted to charge $270 for the start/stop ignition replacement alone. You saved me so much money! Thank you!!!

Glad it worked. $270 is quite a good price from Honda given that some people were charged up to $550. Even cheaper to buy a spray of dielectric cleaner for about $9 from the electronic or hardware store. Just make sure you use a generous amount of the dielectric cleaner.

God that's so easy! I have a 2015 Honda Fit and I have to remove like 6 different pieces including the stereo system if I want to have access to the button.

This may be old news for you all. I recently had problems with my Start/Stop button on my HR-V. Called my local Honda dealer and they told me Honda extended the warranty for that specific problem. The only requirement was the car had to have under 125,000 miles on the odometer. Didn't cost me a dime!

They are a few years too late as many have already changed the button or fixed the problem with contact cleaner. I wonder if Honda will give me a free car or a free jacket for this video on how to locate and fix the issue - I doubt it. No such extended warranty in Australia.

No, you do not need to pair the fob with start/stop button. You can just clean the start stop button with a generous amount of dielectric cleaner and not bother about buying a replacement.

Why don't you clean the start stop button first as per the instructions on the video as it is very cheap to buy electrical contact cleaner. If it doesn't work, then probably need to get Honda to fix it.
