The star of the parade was undoubtedly the M4 Sherman tank M4A3E2 Jumbo Cobra King FIRST IN BASTOGNE, an iconic symbol of U.S. armored forces during WWII. The ever-popular Willys MB Jeep, a symbol of American ingenuity, was present in numbers. These versatile vehicles were used for reconnaissance, transportation, and as a mobile command post during the war.

This defiant response became a symbol of American resilience and determination.

The siege was broken by elements of General George S. Patton’s Third Army, which managed to reach Bastogne and create a corridor for supplies and reinforcements on December 26, 1944. This relief was crucial and came after a rapid and strategically brilliant maneuver by Patton’s forces, who had to disengage from another frontline and turn northwards to reach Bastogne.
