You did well on that box but me as a scrapper would of double what you got Grey wire returns 60%-65% copper Which will be bright wire and bright wire is doing about £6.30 All that wire striped would of gave you minimum of 66kgs of bright wire Nice bonus for the lad but it could of been Alot more if it was stripped

My dad was electrician when I was a kid , he retired now . He used to bring cables home , some where thick some thin with little copper .I used to take some and burn them in the woods . The smoke was massive and firetruck usually came but I already sold them . They were most expensive metal . 1kg used to get over 20 polish zloty = 4 £ but that's a lot in Poland back than and when your a weed smoker you can buy 0.5 g for that . And got some change for Pacman ( munches) .

2 things, Drill 2 holes on all sides of the box approximately 12inch centres from the centre line and about 3 inches down , then an 8 inch length of conduit, preferably metal, thread wire through holes in box and tie off or use clamps, these will for lifting pull handles and will lie flat against sides of box. As for the van side door, mate hired a brand new big mercedes van, to go to tip, we filled it up, and shut side door, opened door at tip and door had came off the track at base, plastic conduit would be how i would describe the bottom track, pulled wheel back into track and door would then shut, it wouldnt before.Panic over, SIde doors depend on the two small wheels running in the track on most vans and can easily be forced out on closing, doors cant usually be forced open when locked due to male and female bolts that engage in van door frame .Something to keep an eye on.l

Buy a refillable gas-low or gas-it bottle for the workshop space heater. Saves on expensive gas bottle exchanges.

Simple thought - use a permanent marker and write 33Kg box weight on the scrap box.
