Congratulations how exciting as much as it sucks to almost be starting at square one, think of how nice it will be having those debts gorn and how much more “disposable income” your going to have to be able to catch back up to hit your end of year goals !

The disposable income will mostly be taken up by extra mortgage payments until we settle and sell the land but after that, I’ll be all systems go on the savings!!! 🫶🏼

Hi! First, congrats on paying so much debt! I'm sure you said it but about the 20k your fiance is going to back for your students loans, are you going to pay him back or is he taking it from the sell of the land before you divide the profits? And what do you plan to do with the profits, do you have an estimate of how much it will be? Do you have a estimate of when will you have to land already? 😀

Because we own the land 50/50, we will have to split the profits first then I will give him it back. It’s hard to say how much we will earn especially bc we will have to pay capital gains tax, so don’t want to make a guess and be disappointed. We have dates it’s meant to be ready but it has been pushed back so much (it was pushed back again a couple of weeks ago), that it’s totally up in the air. It was meant to be done within 12 months and it’s taken over 3 years now! Tbh I probably won’t come out of it with too much cash… but mostly debt free so that’s a huge win!

Congratulations and great video. Hubby and I have also taken our money out and purchased an investment property so we know it's worth it even though its disheartening seeing our envelopesenpty. We paid our mortgage off a few months ago so we can save up quickly again now that we have no debt

Loved it! That was so real, and did show what keeping it tight can mean. Unstuffing that money really added up, and paying off those 2 debts will be so good down the track. I know you will still have your mortgage, but you are looking down the barrel of being otherwise debt free for everything else. Yay! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 PS: I don't know a lot about hecs, but I also thought it was not like a regular loan, as it technically can be flexible for payments if you aren't working, but hey, banks....It will be good to have it gone.

Thank you! It felt very raw to share and I feel pretty vulnerable financially right now but I know I can build it back up, and like you say, will be better of once it’s over! The main issue is that the banks still see hecs like a debt, so it impacts your borrowing capacity 🥲
