Please comment and subscribe for weekly nature videos! One of the largest of this species I have seen. He jumped onto my arm from a piece of furniture we were moving after a bit of coaxing.
I remember on my trip to hawaii last year, i tried so hard to catch one of these, but failed multiple times, despite how often i saw them. But fortunately, i later caught A BABY!! it was literally the greatest experience ever because it was so tiny and fragile and just so stinkin cute and UGH MY HEART COULD NOT TAKE SUCH CUTENESS!
I have been living here for 4 months now, these Geckos are my favorite thing about living in Hawaii. Please tell me any tips and hints to interact with them. I do my best to never scare them, but that isn't easy. I have had astounding results from communicating with them through voice and body language. The next time you encounter a familiar gecko, try saying "Hello Gecko" in a very calm voice. Also, try saying "Hellellellellell" repetedly, it seems to confort them as long as your voice is very mellow and calm. I know it works because they express their curiosity quite vividly. They also love to be admired, they love to flaunt their colors. When I can tell they are showing off I will say "wow". ASTOUNDING RESULTS SO FAR! I love them. PS: I feed them freeze dried meal worms and raisins, but I will never capture them. They are free to come and go as they please, so sometimes I lose progress if they decide not to return. I also set out a cap filled with water to keep them watered.
That is so cute- oh my god. I would love to try this with the gecko that is living in our house. I always see the same little guy running around our house, heck I even remember his routine. The first time I saw him was on the side of a cabinet in the living room and ever since quarantine started, I started seeing him a few times a week and now I see him everyday. I love the little guy but sometimes he scares the crap out of me because he would show up in my bedroom and then a few minutes later, he would be in the kitchen. I've tried feeding him fruits near the cabinet but he was never around when I placed it there. By the way, we named the lizard Squishy and he is also a Golden Dusk Day Gecko. Also, I don't know why I'm reffering it as a he when I don't know his actual gender but whoops.
