Fun fact: Ang Lee himself did the motion-capture for The Hulk, Eric Bana was just Bruce. Another fun fact, Bruce’s dad being named “David Banner” is a reference to The Incredible Hulk tv series, where they called him David instead of Bruce

I actually really enjoy this movie. I remember watching it a few times as a kid, but I never really understood it, so when I went to rewatch it a few years ago, I felt a bit of a connection to Bruce just because I remembered the imagery of the movie but not the context, just like Bruce had flashes of his trauma. Probably the most interesting thing done with Hulk in a movie. Bruce's repressed trauma ends up fueling the transformation, and this is supposed to be an Origin story... It's way more in depth to the character than even The Incredible Hulk gets to be. Interestingly enough, since The Incredible Hulk was originally written as a sequel to this movie, you can actually watch it as a sequel without much issue, if you ignore the alterative origin it provides.

Such an underrated movie, with the greenest hulk on screen. I actually have the novelization of this movie. I’d also highly recommend checking out CinemaWins video on this movie if you want some more analysis.

I remember seeing this in theaters around 8 and had some weird fever dream that night. The only reason why I haven't forgot this movie

This came out when I was a kid and remember not really caring for it. As I’ve grown up, and actually started getting more invested in Hulk comics, this movie has grown on me. It’s definitely not amazing or anything, but it has interesting concepts. It’s also honestly a lot closer in tone to some of my favorite Hulk stories compared to the last decade of Hulk we’ve had in the MCU.

This move in terms of its visual style felt like the prototype for what Speed Racer would later become and perfect imo. I respect this movie a lot for being so bold with its storytelling choices. Not a lot of filmmakers have this kind of confidence and it's honestly just really refreshing.

That movie was on a TV channel this past weekend but I wasn't home to watch it. I've seen movie clips of it. Honestly my favorite Marvel Avenger and Thor my favorite as well.

I've always loved this movie.

Boy this movie is a hot mess. More comic accurate Hulk is great after seeing so much of MCU Hulk (though I don't dislike MCU Hulk until Endgame), but wow is the rest of it... boldly experimental? I think if you took this version of Hulk and put him in the MCU, in particular fighting details like how he outgrew the tensile strength of the dog's jaw as it bit him (an EXTREMELY cool detail imo) and the much more interesting (to me at least) backstory with the genetic experimentation by his father (which yes is comic accurate btw), their take on Ragnarok would have been SO FUCKING COOL. This version of Hulk doing the Planet Hulk story and fighting Fenrir? Man that would have been badass. His fight with Thanos too, would have been even more shocking.

Is it bad I only remember this movie BECAUSE of the Gamma Dogs? Lol. Seriously tho, this movie was so boring and the only time I think I was legitimately having fun was when he wrecked the military after escaping the base. The most frustrating thing was the editing to make it like a comic and instead it just highlights how bored and emotionless the actors are directed IN A MOVIE WHERE EMOTIONS TRIGGER A TRANSFORMATION! I get what Ang Lee was trying to, but after seeing the product we got, maybe it should’ve been given to someone else, and if you like this film, good for you, I wish I could.
