@@leejee88 BTW Warrior being a body builder has very few stamina, if a match goes long he gets too weak. I saw him barely gorilla press Mr. Perfect once. His arms were trembling. And you know how small Mr. Perfect is.
@@doubledare84527 hmmm mr perfect and warrior are about the same size but your right he burns himself out really quick thats why his matches were so short .I could see him struggling lifting someone the same size as him being all worn out ..the vid i seen with slamming andre he seemed to do it no problem it was just a clip and idk how long into that particular match they were along .
+CSmoCC Ted Dibiase told a similar story in which Andre farted in a crowded elevator in Japan and then laughed about it. Dibiase said that by itself was funny enough, but that what really made it funny was the way all the people in the elevator lost all facial expression because they were scared to death to say anything about it.
You can tell it took all he had because even Andre's hand can be seen bracing on Hulk's knee directly before the drop. So they were both doing what they could to accomplish this ionic move.
Yes that's the thing, Its BUSINESS, And Andre was very smart, If the fans were leaning his way in that match he would have won. Andre was very stubborn and didn't like to be told what to do he read off the crowd. Only man to do what he wanted. An the slam was planned yes, But as stated in numerous videos by Hogan and Vince himself if Andre said no slam it was no slam. Andre knew the crowd wanted Hogan to win and wanted him to slam him so he let it happen. But he did do what he wanted.
I'm a grown ass man, and I dont even know how I'd act if I met my childhood idol Hulk Hogan. I still love him. He gave me and every kid in the 80s some of the greatest memories and experiences of our lives.
and when you look at that slam...you could see that Hulk didn't really have 100% full control turning into the slam, for a quick second it looks as if he was gonna slam Andre on his head, now i know why it looked like that.
Yeah there is another Hulk interview where he said that he had written this whole fight out, move by move and gave it to Andre for approval and Andre just ignored it. When the match began, Andre followed the script. The script did NOT call for Andre being slammed though so the ending was ad lib'd but Hogan had to be ready for it which makes it pretty remarkable that this happened the way it did. Andre could not move well at all at this point but still weighed more than 500 pounds. Hogan mangled himself in order to make the slam happen. Beyond that, this was clearly a baton passage by Andre since Hulkamania was already big and this just blew it up.
I give him props . A healthy Andre would go up pretty easily for any fit wrestler . Turning Andre when he was imobile from his back surgery was not a cooperative act . The only thing I saw that trumped that slam was a botched King Kong Bundy slam by Krusher Darsow in MidSouth . Bundy planted his hand unto Darsows mid thigh to turn into the slam and his grip slipped leaving Darsow holding Bundy waist high . He cleaned Bundy up to his chest then shit canned him to the mat . Darsow has to be one of the most under rated strongmen in wrestling history .
the thing was... vince actually told hulk ''if you can body slam andre you will win the belt... if not it goes to andre'' this was actually one of the most real non-scripted things in WWE
Even by Hogan's own admission, the job wasn't gonna get done unless Andre agreed to it. Hogan was pretty much willing to do whatever it took not to piss Andre off on the day of WrestleMania III, even going as far as to agree to hang with Andre hours before the match and drink with him. Hogan knew the Giant was a lot more easy-going once he'd gotten a few drinks in him, so Hogan was like, "Okay, Boss." lol RIP: Andre.
@@richardboone5464 Watch the Andre documentary on HBO and then you’ll understand. It’s a very simple thing and rather than me typing it out, you should just watch the documentary. Beyond this minor thing, the documentary is outstanding anyway.
Hulk Hogan Lifted and Carried Vince Mcmahon and Wrestling on His Shoulders and Made it a Global Juggernaut...Hulkamania Was Larger Than Life and When He Turned Heel as Hollywood Hogan it Was an Absolute Swagathon!...GOAT Babyface and GOAT Heel...Hogan is a Wrestling GOD
With Andre's declining health, WrestleMania III was the last good match he worked as a singles wrestler. Hogan cracks me up in this interview. He seems to have even less of an idea where the line between kayfabe and reality is than the average fan does.
spatrick1964 apparently legend has it that hogan now picked up a 12 ft andre who weighed 1000 pounds and slammed him in all seriousness though after hearing about andres drinking exploits now there the stuff of legends 156 pints of beer in one session with a dozen flaggons of wine as well any mere mortal would be dead what a legend andre the giant was
When I saw that slam I couldn't believe it, especially after the first failure. How does someone help you to slam him Hulk said the first time he dead weighted him. What was different in the successful slam? Like how does one help you to pick them up and slam them when they are that big and heavy? I was young and Hulk Hogan and Hulamnia made me and my brother fans. We even tried to be a tag team together but it tuned out that our knees just weren't capable of wrestling we were injured in training and it was over in a flash it truly sucked, we wanted to be like the Mega Powers conquering the world. I ended up being a PC tech. It was truly an amazing time we had no idea about the predetermined endings and it looked real to us as kids. I remember waiting and waiting for the video store to finally get the 1st Wrestlemania tape it was so awesome seeing the WWF grow. we would drive down to Toronto and be in the stands watching. I was in the crowd the night Marti Jennety hit sensational Sherrie with Shawn Micheals mirror. I remember seeing the rock in Barrie Ontario Canada and I'm pretty sure I saw Hulk during one of these events in Toronto. It was truly amazing.
When he slammed Andre at WM3 Andre was at the point where he could barely move and had numerous back surgeries because of his gigantism. At that time was almost retiring but vince coached him into it So he really was a dead weight Back in 1979 or 1980 when Andre was younger, lighter and wrestling strong so they were able to pull off the move together where as above hogan was doing all the work which was most likely the cause of the tearing
Oscar Macintosh You do realise wrestling is fake and the reason Hogan was champion so many times was because Vince McMahon decided he should be? I can assure you that God played no part in it....
Oscar Macintosh Yeah, God doesn't help children with cancer but he really cares about Hogan having a top run in the WWF, imagine worshipping a God like that, fucktard
I’m pretty sure he wasn’t actually 520 lbs. The billed height/weight are always exaggerated. If he were really that heavy he’d be WAY fatter, even at 6’10” tall (his true height). 425-450lbs is probably his real weight, still a massive feat for Hogan to slam him.
The ultimate warrior body slamming andre in maple leaf gardens in 1989 when warrior was ic champ was the most impressive slam ever turned his body right over even lord alfred and monsoon were impressed
@@ryanwilliams8390, Warrior never jobbed cleanly to anyone, and so pinning him had to be real, not scripted. Vinnie-Mac would excuse it from the Giant in Italy.
In another interview Hogan said they rehearsed the whole match. Also said he picked him up and fell just like they rehearsed. Makes me curious why he said he didn't do it on purpose here. Maybe the other interview was later though.
Right, it's common knowledge that the body slam is an assisted move. You could even argue that 80 percent of the slam is performed by the person who takes it. But even if that's true, lifting 20 percent of Andre the Giant is still a hell of a lot more than most people can manage. It was impressive. Why can't people give Hogan credit?
Exactly. People forget how big wrestlers are until they see them up close. Hogan was a huge man himself. Assisted or not, slamming Andre is seriously impressive.
Hogan was scared of Andre.Andre was suppose to have jobbed sooner but he would change his mind at the last second and there was nothing Andre's opponent could do except look stupid. He did that with Big John Studd all the time.Vince must have paid Andre far more under the table to get him to lose to Hogan bodyslam and all.It was worth it because Jake the Snake was already more popular with the fans than he was until that BodySlam heard around the world.Andre helped his company w that sacrific
He lies so much he forgets. He said one time he felt his disks in his upper back and neck snap when he slammed Andre. Also, he said he planned all those moves with Andre other than the finish. Such a liar.
What I really want to know is if Hogan expects us to believe he tore all those muscles and everything at Wrestlemania 3...then what's his reasoning for Slamming Andre AGAIN a year later at Wrestlemania 4? And for that matter, why didn't he tear all his muscles the 3 or 4 other times he slammed Andre BEFORE Wrestlemania 3?
Hogan is the Greatest for a reason. Andre understood this and allowed him to continue his ascension. All wrestlers lie, Hell all HUMANS lie. But Hogan put in the work so he can tell the story however he wants, Fuck the haters!
I hate to say it, but that "SLAM" is what cemented WrestleMania! As a legitimate PPV! If Andre decided otherwise? WrestleMania would be a Farce! Applause to Andre the Giant, for knowing his longevity and time in the business! And putting the business first, before himself! Andre knew he wasn't long for this world! But he knew what good business was and sacrificed himself. For the sake of the business. Big Men and Giants alike should respect pay homage to his Legacy!
A lot of people are questioning this story and how the Hulk seems to change it every time it is told. The day I slam a 500 lb dude like he did, believe me the story will change as well - I reckoned he has earned it.
That was absolute entertainment back then.... of course it was fake, it's just like Hollywood, it was complete entertainment though .... never will it be the same again..... wrestling, aerobicise, and cable TV Life was awesome ..... Who out there was with me ?? where are you ? ? ?
I saw WM3 closed circuit in the Kingston Memorial Centre. It was packed and when Hogan slammed Andre, there was a huge gasp. Total blast and great childhood memory.
He wasn't significantly lighter in the early 80s than he was in Wrestlemania 3. We're talking about less than a hundred pound difference more than likely. And if Hogan expects people to believe that he tore all those muscles then it's really strange that he'd slam Andre AGAIN at Wrestlemania 4 a year later.
I swear it looked like he was saying "Are you sure about this?" as in he was asking Andre if he REALLY wanted Hogan to slam him & all. Let's not forget Andre did have back surgery prior to that match. The 8th Wonder of the World was actually wearing a back brace under his singlet, apparently.
Say what you want, but when Hulk Hogan slammed Andre, it was an incredible "sports" moment. Just the fact that he was able to body slam a disproportioned mass that weighed 400 plus pounds alone was insane, forget tearing his bicep, his spine should have snapped and his balls should have fallen to the canvas...
I'm an old wrestling fam and I've seen Andre slammed plenty of times before WrestleMania 87. As a matter of fact, I saw Hogan slam this man live in Philly in like 80 or 81. But none the less, it was like 93,000 people there.
Late 60’s and 1970’s Andre was only about 300-350 pounds. He was body slammed by numerous wrestlers. But He was in the 450-500 pound range at Wrestle Mania 3. At his biggest. And 90+ thousand people in the crowd to witness. And Hulkamania was just getting started. Everything came together just right.
It's impressive that hulk Hogan got him up but let's be real hulk Hogan is lying about injuries. It's not enough the amazing feature he did he has to lie.
I love how a bunch of people are at home talking shit with their keyboards lol this man has done more in his life than I’m pretty sure everyone here judging his stories
I agree. I don’t get the dislike of Hogan. Yeah maybe he’s got a massive ego but being one of the most massive pop culture stars of the 80s and 90s will do that. He’s remarkably grounded and humble for someone of his fame.
I hate when they(and by "they", I'm referring to Hogan trying to spread this shit around) talk about Andre being 700lbs. His documentary said he was 550lbs right before he died, and WM3 was nearly six years earlier. He was certainly lighter. 475-500lbs is far more accurate for his WrestleMania 3 weight.
Wow amazingly Andre came up with the exact same finish as every single other Hulk Hogan match. Seriously Hulk we all know it’s a work. You’re like the dude on the movie set trying to convince people that the movie on screen is actually real.
That's two totally different stories that I've heard Hulk tell about this match. In another interview he said no one could slam Andre unless he wanted you to slam him and Andre could make it so easy for someone to slam him by the way he would do it and he said that it was nothing for him to slam Andre because Andre made it so easy for him lol
