Just before this video i asked the officer if she was working in accordance with the oath she took as a police officer and then told her i would be filming, they removed myself and another photographer from a public right of way alleyway that was NOT included in any road closures onto the road closure then had the cheek to moan at us causing a disturbance, a formal complaint is being passed onto the IPCC as this was the second day the police had attempted to use lies and deceit to get me to move! This was all about the filming of dads army with catherine zeta jones that is being filmed on public land! Bridlington Yorkshire

Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel.

I appreciate that each day in 'Policing' will throw up different challenges, and that they are not able to know all the laws (Mainly because we have so bloody many) but blanket "Breach of the Peace" just because some tosspot from a production company ain't happy is bang out of order. This is a classic example of why people are losing faith, and any remaining bit of respect they have for Cops, because they pick shi* out of thin air if they haven't a clue! Like a number of people have commented, these two look as if they really don't care, and have a look of utter contempt on their faces when interacting with the public. Shaggy perm looks 'unkempt' and the other one looks like Matt Lucas in costume for a Little Britain sketch.

A breach of the peace is defined as “an act done or threatened to be done which either actually harms a person, or in his presence, his property, or is likely to cause such harm being done.

The production crew don't want you to interfere with their job yet they are quite happy to interfere with your job. The police support the stance of the production crew and are just as ignorant of the law. The only people with the true grasp of the law in this video are the photographers. Unfortunately this is typical.

Another film showing that the police force is not there working as a complete impartial service protecting the rights of the public. I find it amusing that if a farmer closes off a public footpath across one of his fields the police "can't do anything" but if a film company closes of a footpath in the middle of a busy tow the police turn up to protect the rights, in their own minds, of the film company.

Just because they were allowed to film there does not mean they had the power to close down the public walkway! If they wanted a set that looked like a 1940's street , then they should have built a set on private land!If they want to film in a public street They should not expect to be able to stop people walking down the street! And the police shouldOh and the copper only backed off when the actual law (The law she should know) was explained to her!Otherwise she would have had then arrested on her own thoughts of how the law stands!

3:25 There's no law saying that you can't photograph whilst they're filming as long as you're not trespassing. As far as I'm concerned you are on a public footpath which is public property and therefore well within your rights to take photographs whether or not the filming was taking place on the road (which is private property as they have arranged a road closure). 4:50 Agreed!

Every time I see this vid I punch my screen,,, several times ,,, Why are the police working for a company ??? IE the people who closed the road down? Laymans terms ,, The road has been closed down so a film company can make a film,, This film company has the power to close down public right of ways ? And has the power to have the police make sure no person walks down that public right of way. THAT IS CORUPTION in action

Here in Portugal this kind of work by the police like closing part of a road to do removals like I do for living, or because of construction sites or even a movie, the procedure is : You have to ask the council authorization days before if it's possible then they talk to the police to go there at the site but the company have to pay to the one or two policeman's, that money goes 45% to the policeman's who was there and 55% goes to the unit or police department. They also do security services on supermarkets and shopping-centers, they do this job's when they are off duty and call it "gratified", they have just the same attitude like this two in this circumstances, it is wrong. They charge 50€ each for 4 hours.

Get this straight, we are governed by consent, the 'we' part does not apply to individuals it applies as a whole to the population. Retired BBC news cameraman here, so I know the rules better than most plods. The UK police cannot stop anyone filming in public: www.theiac.org.uk/resourcesnew/filming-in-public/ACPO_Guidance_PhotographsPublicPlaces.pdf?hc_location=ufi (If you're a keen photographer/filmer, it's a good idea to print this and carry it with you.) Also, police can't use the Terrorism Act to stop you filming, unless they ALREADY have "REASONABLE" grounds that your activities aid terrorism. Just filming in itself is NOT "reasonable" grounds. Here's the Home Office guidance for police on photography: www.gov.uk/government/publications/photography-and-counter-terrorism-legislation

You can’t expect too much of the police and that applies in spades in Humberside. I have encountered film crews on the embankment in London who seem to think they can cordon whole sections off and stop you walking to your place of work. So I was sympathetic to your position and your point about the police not working for a private company but you lose credibility when you start spouting that freeman on the land bollocks about statutes not being law..

Officers who appear to have just got out of bed with their clothing like it has not been in close contact with an iron for weeks looks bad. A belt is supposed to keep ones pants up not hang round their hips with so much equipment hanging on it rendering the officer incapable of running if need be.
