Just use the power switch to put on standby. Saves battery power too. There’s a video on my channel for that too. One of my earliest videos.

Thanks Mark, I am not 100% sure what you mean by a test stand but I do my videos in simulation mode in my garage. My garage stays warm enough that I don’t need to winterize my motor. Some people do run a power cord from a battery out of the boat but I just leave my units on the boat since it stays warm enough.

Adding an inline fuse to the power cord is a good idea.

The changes made in simulation mode carry over to normal mode when I have done 2D, DI, and SI. Although I haven’t tried it with everything, to the best of my knowledge, the changes made in simulation mode carry over to normal mode.

That will be the subject of an upcoming video 😊

To be honest, I haven’t used it in simulation mode for that purpose. I suspect that it wouldn’t work but you could try it.

Blizzard is heading our way. I use a ram mount on my sled to mount my Helix 5 if that helps. Once you hit normal mode, it should stay in normal mode unless you change it to simulation mode.

That one unit always reverts back to simulation. I’m sure the tech wizards can walk me through resetting it some how. When I was having mega live problems, they had me doing stuff I didn’t know you could do and no idea how to do it again. The new (July) helix9 ice updates took care of my freezing problem btw. Ram mounts are great! I’m using the clamp off my trolling motor stabilizer arm for double duty on the handle bars. Works great

Hopefully the tech wizards will guide you through this fix. In the meantime, if things aren’t working, a restore defaults try might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the kind words about my videos. I don’t save my tracks as I rely on my waypoints. When the update was done, they would have had to restore defaults. Make sure you have changed Angler to Custom Mode so you have all your menu options available to you. Make sure that when you changed the colour of saved tracks to green that you hit the save prompt. My guess is you right cursored the colour but didn’t hit save.

First you said to “make sure when you changed the color of saved tracks that you didn’t hit the save prompt” but then you said you thought i right cursor Ed the color but didn’t hit save. ? I’m assuming I’m supposed to hit save after changing the color, right? I’ll double check it next time. I wish I didn’t have to save tracks but where I fish is not a normal impoundment here in Florida and it’s easy to not be able to get around because the large areas of floating vegetation move all the time, closing off old routes and opening new ones…

My apologies, I just reread the reply and edited it to indicate that you DO hit the save prompt after selecting the colour.

We fished Toho last spring and our buddy from Florida took us through one of those canal systems and I totally understand why you would want to save those tracks.

@@stevechiassonfishing5876 thx. That makes sense. the specific impoundment is called Headwaters or Fellsmere reservoir. Bass masters listed it as the #4 lake in the country for 2021. It’s a pretty cool lake just really annoying to get around. Speed limit everywhere on the lake 25 mph

The advantages of a 12 over a 10 is better resolution. It’s also easier to view multiple screens on the 12. The 10 still provides a really good image so it comes down to budget, mounting space, and personal preference.

Just wondering if you have a loose wire or some corrosion somewhere? I would contact Humminbird support and see what they’re opinion. Personally I haven’t come across that situation.

It is possible that the button needs to be replaced. It’s a pain but you can just pull the power button each time you need to turn it off until you get the problem resolved.

You should be able to hit exit and then menu. The menu button should give you the option of cancel MOB navigation and may also let you cancel i tracks data too. Let me know how you make out.

When your cursor is adding waypoints it sounds like you are planning a route or an itrack.

@@stevechiassonfishing5876 Hi Steve i did what you said so the MOB is not coming up on the screen but every now and then when I tap the wright arrow it brings up a waypoint and a navigation map to fellow to waypoint thanks for your help i am going out tomorrow I will see how we go

Here’s a couple of other things to try Sam. If it’s an itrack recording, hit mark button, then choose stop recording. You could also try hitting Go To button, and see if there’s a cancel navigation option.
