The blinking sprinkler icon shows that the controller has energized a zone terminal in the controller. Wiring or hydraulic issues can prevent the station from actually operating though.
Great educational video. I commend Hunter for putting this together. Many video's out there are not well thought through before taping. You did your homework for this one. I have read your manual many times and never understood the "A, B and C" part. I thought there were just stations: 1, 2...up to 8. Now I understand it is much more complicated. I have four different valves. I now understand I have to decide which "Programs" A, B and C will be set up for the various areas (orange trees, Flowers and other trees and bushes). Then, I can assign the start times and run times for each of those programs. Thanks for your help. I have to admit I had to watch the video numerous times (both part 1 and part 2 videos) before I fully understood how I can apply it to my unique watering situation. THANK YOU
Thank god for this video, now it all makes sense. I did not understand why "Start Times" only showed 4 choices but "Run Times" gave me 6 (I have 6 valves connected). Now I realize I setup four start times for each of two zones and it's going to water a TON!!! But at least I'll be able to correct it.
I would like to add that if you're only going to do manual watering by putting the switch in the "run" position and holding the right arrow "hand" button and selecting one of your programs, you need to set all your water days to off. If you don't do this it will utilize automatic watering for whatever is programmed still. Now if you can remember to go turn the switch to off after is done its manual water cycle then good on you, I sure don't want to have to do that.
Still having problem switching on run times from pm to am! Works ok for time/date but run time whatever button none seems to change to am from already set p.m.. Plus have two sides of grass to water( new St.Augustine) so wanted 1a & 1b & set 2 3 & 4 off.but can 't seemed to get off. This was set up previouslty by water guy who put it in. So has each section pre program & don't need those right now. Any help! .
@@fredvantassell5371I didn’t see a response to this so hoping I can help on the run times (if you haven’t already figured it out) “Start Time” tells the system when to start watering (am/pm). “Run Time” tells the system how long to water. Water pressure is a problem and I have 5 stations. The pressure will only cope with 1 station at a time. Can the X Core be programmed to turn each station on separately in turn?
This is all about setting up a program, but I bought a brand new house & it was already programmed when I signed my papers & got my front door keys. How do I figure out how my X-Core was set up? What time of day, how many minutes, etc?
Hello; very nice video, this controllers are not easy to grasp, but I finally think I got it! One doubt, please tell me if I'm right: If I assign more than one station to a programme, and the programme has a single start at 10:30 and the run time is 10 minutes, the X-core will run station 1 from 10:30 to 10:40 and then station 2 from 10:40 to 10:50 (and so on if the stations are more than two)?
I agree completely Darlene!! I have watched the videos at least 5-6 times each and have only figured out how to set the date, time and 2 start times. We bought a pre-owned home and I have no idea if all the areas are being watered or not. This is a cause for great concern with 110 degree temps in AZ. I will call the customer service number.
The water electrical control unit has NO now power to it and the shed electrical sub-board has been tripped, any reason for this? The electrical sub-board has been reset however the water electrical control unit has no power to it?
I have a serious problem with my irrigation system. All stations work correctly and once the cycle is finished, it starts all over again. Why is that, and what have I programmed wrong? I need it to STOP once the cycle is over. Thanks for giving me an answer ASAP,

Hi Is it possible to have a movement sensor connected to the x-core so when movement is detected the sprinklers start watering 🤔? And also a different question...is it possible to have a remote control via a smartphone?
7.4.21 I have this controller and stations 5 and 6 on program C. I switched C to water all 7 days, and set watering length. However program C doesn't show on run time!! Help!
When you say Cycle 1,2,3,etc....do you mean Stations 1,2,3..? Is it the same since my user manual calls them stations. I have Prog A1 & A2 set for 6:00 am. How can I set Cycle/Station 3 for a different time, say 10PM?
Cycle means Start Time for the program. It does not represent Station. It means how many times do you want to have Program A, B, or C come on. If there are two Start Times (two Cycles) it will activate all of the stations in that Program twice. How do I get the manual setting to work? I set program "A" for 15 min and turn it to "run" and the sprinkler icon just blinks but nothing turns on. I cant figure this out...
I need to operate two program in the same time in icc controller because I don't like to make wire sharing For example if i have 30 station and connect all but want to operate 15 in program A and other 15 valve in any program to let number 1 run with number 16 With my best wishes
Video is very helpful, but system is still very hard to understand!!! I only want and need to have one watering program. However, the system has had multiple start times, etc. Program "A" is set, but zone run times are showing "AM" & "PM" in different zones and I cannot change them. I've tried going to "12:00" and hitting the back arrow without any change. I've also tried using the "PRG" button the switch from AM to PM without any luck. What am I missing? I have to say, the Hunter programming is very difficult to use!
Thanks for this helpful series of videos. Just to double check; if I've got 4 terminals on program A, I set a start time for 1 while 2, 3, and 4 say "off" and the system should cycle through all four of them starting with terminal 1. Is that right? This means I should NOT set 1 for 5:15am, 2 for 5:30, 3 for 5:45am etc. all under program A, right?
Program A B C? If I program all of them they will all turn on designated run time, for instance I want program A for a normal cycle and I program B for a 3 minute 4 times a day cycle after I overseed to help seed germinate. My understandings is that A and B are going to run. In other words I cannot just select B to run, I have to go into water days and 0 out the days of program (A or B) I do not want to run. I hope this makes sense.
When in manual mode, I activate one zone to water but a separate zone will gurgle water from the heads while it waters the designated zone. How do I fix the issue of a the zone that gurgling/spitting water?
Are your valves turned on ?? I have this sometimes when my gardeners are working on the lawn, checking to see if the sprinkler heads are popping up OK... then they forget to turn the valves back on..
Ok. So I know how to set multiple start times in the same program but how do I turn off a start time when it is no longer needed? I cannot get the clock to go back to off. I set the run time to 0:00 thinking it would not run. Nope. Still runs.
Per this video, I set program A, station (zone) 1 to start at 8:45PM and set stations 2, 3, and 4 Off. I don't know if it will run all stations one after another or it just runs station 1 then stop. Does anyone have the answer?
A program start time is when the series of stations in a program begins. Once the program starts, each of the stations will run in sequence for programmed run time.
How I stop restart after it has completed all zones? If I keep my system automatic on, it start at programmed time and after completion of all the zones it will start it again and keep running. Meaning it start running again and again. How it stop it??
Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. In the START TIMES dial position, the numbers you see do not represent your stations. They are the number of times Program A, B, C, or D (if you have a D program) will cycle in a single water day. Hunter controllers have the ability to program multiple start times for each program. Each program requires only one start time to initiate a watering sequence of the stations assigned to that program. This allows the user to have the controller start multiple times per water day. One start time will sequentially run all stations in a program that has been programmed in the RUN TIMES dial position. A second start time will cycle the program later or early that same day. For example, you should have a start time in A1 only. A2, A3 …. A8 should all say OFF. The OFF will appear between 11:45 pm and 12:00 am. The only dial position that allows you to program your stations, is in the RUN TIMES dial position.
Hi and thanks for a very helpful video. However, I want to run valves individually because some go to trees, others to grass and so on. My Hunter X-Core runs all of them in cycles. I don't want that. How do I program them individually? Does anyone know? Thanks for the help.
Those represent a seasonal adjustment percent or a Solar-Sync adjustment to the programmed run time. If neither of those apply, it's set to 100% by default.
Hi, i used tour video a couple months ago to set the timer! Worked great! I scheduled them to start at 5am tues, thurs and sat and cycle through. I noticed for awhile on sat they would also come in at 330am. Today (thurs) they came on at 330. I have looked and dont see anywhere where 330am has been scheduled! Can you you help me with this?

How to program stations (zones) for watering three different watering areas at three different times? (We don't have enough water volume for all 6 zones to be watering at the same time.)

Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. Hunter controllers have multiple programs and the ability for each program to have multiple start times. If you want to run separate stations (or zones) on different days, you would use 2 different programs. To set up each program, you would need to program START TIMES, RUN TIMES, and WATER DAYS for each program. Below is an example of programming multiple programs on a 4 station controller: Example: You have a 4 Station X-Core controller. (Your controller may be a different model, but the steps are the same). Your lawn stations are valves #1 and #2. Your shrubs stations are valves #3 and #4. You want the lawn stations to water Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4:00 am and again at 6:00 am for 6 minutes per station. Then you want the shrub stations to water on Saturdays at 6:00 am for 10 minutes per station.
So I have this to water my orchard and have 3 different stations (valves) that I want to each water for 24hrs a day at 4hrs intervals. Do I have to set 2 different start times? Like one start time at 6am and one at 6pm? Sorry I’m very nee to this system and my dad was the one who took care of this but he recently passed away. Any help is appreciated
my x-core shows no indication in the program to water at 1:30am on Fridays however it come in at that time. all other days programed are good. can someone help.

I am wondering if this system will run all A,B and C programs in the Run position? I don't want to have to change within each program, and I want certain sections to only water say once a week. So, for example I put my fruit trees on program B to only water once a week, and nothing else. On program A, I have all the other zones except the trees, so I am expecting this unit to run all the programs, without me manually selecting which program to run. Hope that makes sense, and does this unit have that ability? If not, when will we have a unit that has the same amount of tech that is within our phones, so we can customize which zones get watered at certain times and days, and still have all of the different programs run?
David Dresen David, I had pretty much the same question as you but after watching the video it would appear that ALL programs run together without your having to select a particular one.

Great video! My Hunter x-core will not turn on on it's own. It will turn on when you manually switch it on and run but after setting up the watering days it won't turn on. At the end of the season to blowout the sprinkler system I always unplug the unit. I have the Hunter x-core that offers 1-31 days of watering days. Any idea why it won't turn on it's own? TIA

I get the programming, my question is that none has answered yet lol is, HOW DO I KNOW WHAT STATION IS FOR WHICH PART OF MY YARD!!???? In one part of the house are my trees, the other part of the house are my girlfriend's flower bed.
+Wheres Overholt you do that yourself by noting which wire goes from the valve to the controller - position 1 wire goes to a valve which you will call station 1. The wire from #2 will go to another valve, which you will call station 2, and so on... If you didn't install it yourself, then manually run each station, one by one, and see where the water is going in the garden. See the video at 2:20 minutes
