In this video I hunt for the coolest comic books I can find at New York Comic Con. There were so many amazing Comic Books to see at the Comic Con. Grails, Key Issues, Silver Age Comics, Golden Age Comics, Bronze Age comics and so much more.
Watch as I dig though boxes of comics at the Comic Con and seen which comics I ended up buying.

Watching RU-vid videos all day, then came across yours. Exactly what I was looking for! Thx for taking the time to show us the individual books and metropolis. I live in Ohio and can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Great video. I love the NYCC. Stopped going due to crowds, but this year looked great! You weren't shoulder to shoulder looking through the longboxes and artists weren't overloaded with people looking for sketches. Great Job and beautiful books!

Yeah the crowds and just trying to walk around always wears me out very fast but this year they really opened up the space to make so much more room to walk. I really hope they continue that more next year but it will probably be back to normal by then.

Awesome video!! So many amazing grails, and just great books in general. Was a lot of fun to follow along with you. Also, oddly enough, I was thinking "I wonder if he'll see Very Gary" and then he immediately came on screen.

Yeah I love Nick Cardys artwork so decided I need to finish up my Teen Titan and Aquaman runs. I have been stubborn and trying to do it on a $5 each budget for 2 years lol finally broke down and decided I am ok with $10-$15 each as long as they are in pretty decent shape.

There were a ton of old gold/silver age comics I never knew existed! Like Tessie the Typist and Crime Reporter. I really love those old stories, well written with great plots , usually . And gorgeous cover art! Thanks for taking us along! 😎

The New York City comic con is my favorite event and I have New York Yankee tickets every year. Thank God I didn’t sell all of my comic books I was a bartender in Connecticut I gave up working 10 years ago I don’t have any money but I still kept some of my good books. Well the biggest spike of the comic books a cat is tales of suspense 39 8.5 which I paid $5300 the first appearance of Iron Man and yes I know last month 8.0 sold for $89,475 that’s totally insane. I know Spiderman was always worth a fortune and thank God I kept both of my copies of amazing fantasy 15. That’s the one comic book that nobody should ever sell unless it’s extreme emergency only.

Awesome to hear you were able to hang on to those major keys, the prices really have skyrocketed the last few years. One day I want to own them but they jumped out of my range for now, but who knows. I need the opposite of an emergency to get them haha Such a fun event I always love NYCC

@@pop-comics Well I don’t have any money at all basically I gave up bartending 10 years ago the only thing I do is go to comic cons and I have New York Yankee tickets every year partial. I also still have my X-Men 17.0 journey into mystery 83 6.0 fantastic 448 9.6 amazing Spiderman 16.5 superman 15.0 restored no trimming Batman 15.0 restored. Obviously when I need money like a brand new Corvette or a Dodge Challenger RT I have to sell something🥳🥳🥳

I would have grabbed the MIllie The Model but I think it was priced $100-$200 alot more then I am willing to spend on that run right now.

sometimes an old book is so beautiful it is worthy of a slab to keep it beautiful. But sometimes an old book is beat up, so slabbing it just seems silly. It takes away the job of opening it up and enjoying the book which is what low grade comics are perfect for.

If I went to one of these conventions, I would be like a kid in a candy store! But with my limited budget, the decision about what to buy would be very difficult.

Trust me...if you ain't going to bring at least $500 clear to spend....don't even bother....you'll just be torturing yourself....and pissing off the dealers. Dealers aren't interested in "lookers"....dealers are interested in buyers. Just being honest. Understand that the booths there are INCREDIBLY expensive and the dealers are under pressure to make money...and not make conversation with people who have NO money. As I say...just being honest and real. And yes, I am a dealer...

Yeah that is my problem and this year I had a bit more to spend then normal so I went a bit nuts lol Good news is a lot of vendors are super over priced so makes the decisions on what not to buy easier.

@@pop-comics Ugh...I hate when dealers over price. I'm a dealer..and I just don't do that. I simply ask a pretty fair price from the get-go..and then I'm usually willing to deal from there. But you're right....if someone's going to be an ass and overprice, then they shouldn't WHINE later when they didn't sell anything! Cheaper is better and try to have quality.....fair prices will always get the customers in..

I know they have 3-4 folks around the booth, never saw an armed guard though. But yeah there is a ton of value in there.

@@pop-comics I would definitely say there was a "ton of value" in there. It had to be close to a million...or more. Killer stuff though...but you got to find the buyers. It's one thing to have lookers...but they have to find collectors willing to pay that money. NY or San Diego is the place for sure. Maybe Chicago too. Ever been to San Diego comicon? I've been to it twice in the old days when it was GOOD. Now..not so much. Too much industry and commercialism and not the small guys setting up as much any more. Sad..

Godd its expensive! That ASM #361 was quoted at 1200 dollars when you can get it at ebay as a 9.8 for half that!

Yeah I pretty much struck out on my Key Issue want list, everything was higher the ebay. Raw copies priced like they were slabbed. Low grade issues priced like they were high grade etc. On the other hand I found fantastic deals on a ton of other stuff.

Yes I made a large purchase with him then asked if I could film and he said sure. Also I have a press badge so I am a vetted press member for the con.

Coverless comics sell for a lot of money!!!

Yes especially rare key issues with only a few hundred left in existence. Personally I would not grade a coverless comic though since I already know the grade coverless and I get to flip through the issue and read it and look at something very few people get to look at. When someone prints out nice color copy of the original cover, which in itself I think is cool it bring more enjoyment to that coverless copy so you feel like your are experiencing the real thing. But then to get that coverless copy with the color copy graded means your spending $100s to grade the comic and only look at the color copy in the case. Seems to silly to me lol.

It really is. I do sell them as part of my business so I try to at least cover the cost of what I spend on them.

I would love to be there..but I can ONLY imagine what the booths cost to set up. Ugh... Hope all the dealers do well and people spend, spend, spend. I've done that show and it was good...but, logistically, it was a PAIN. You have to work with the union for one thing and moving in your stuff in is painful. They charge for a chair. Yeah...you don't EVEN get a chair for all that money you pay for a fucking booth. And then, unless you pay for the union to move your shit out....you have to dolly it out, through this one single elevator......and not a dock elevator. It's a pain....as a dealer, you DO work for your money....lots of pressure to sell just to make booth fee. yes - I AM REALITY.....consequently, I am NOT romanticizing the whole event. Probably just easier to be an attendee than actually do it...

Yup, I have a shop in New York city and I enjoy selling through it. I would probably sell more at conventions but if you add up all the work to do so, the cost for the space, the cost to hire people to help and all the hard work and aggravations Its just too much for me. I have fun at the con, and don't really look at it as an opportunity for my shop. I probably should try selling there one day. And also look to buy more for my shop lol but then its work. I love the fun.

@@pop-comics Good attitude to have. Yeah...I'm doing Motor City Comicon in MI this coming weekend. We'll see how it goes. But, yeah- you're right, it's a LOT of work . The logistics for this show are pretty decent though. Easy loading in and out (compared to NY). It's held in a nice LARGE, SUBURBAN Convention center in a rich suburb. None of the inner city shit..or the dangers....or the parking problems. Booth prices are starting to climb though. However, we typically have a good clientele who are VERY good buyers and good people. I"m crossing my fingers though that they show...even with the virus. We'll see what happens.

Did I see 30,000.00 plus on some of those comics?? Too rich for my blood. Today is my birthday. It sucked, only because I accidentally cut one of my cats trying to get a mat out of her fur. That cost me 600.00.

Yeah some of the big grail comics are for upcoming auctions. Those comics do get very expensive very fast. Sorry to hear about your cat, I hope they are ok.
