German Shepherd VS Siberian Husky Who is Stronger and which makes the ultimate Companion? I thought that these are the right categories to compare for: THE STRENGTH, SIZE & COST, CHARACTER, WORKING, HEALTH.

Because that's how those kinds of people have always done it. But I can tell you while my husky is hard to train that does not make her u intelligent. If I give her a puzzle, even new it's solved in less than 20 minutes and I'm just glad she hasn't figured out how to unlock a dead bolt but she can open doors
As the owner of both a German Shepherd and a husky I'd say I'm the winner, they're both the best wingmen in every situation I've ever had, and my kids agree.
I had a GS/husky mix before and I gotta tell ya he was the BEST dog ever and I've had quite a few. He will always remain my favorite and it I have a chance to have another one I would take it in a heartbeat. They are very smart, loyal, protective, easy to train, and loving as all hell. Best breed combo!
I had a husky and German shepherd mix. He was the sweetest most loyal dog I have ever owned. Words can’t even explain my love for him, and how good of a dog he was. He listened so well, and was extremely loving and gentle ❤
We've had our husky for almost 1 yr, and he's turning 4 yrs old. I don't trust him sometimes. He's closer to my wife, but he's protective of all of us, especially our bordercollie. He doesn't like it if you get too close. I call him a sour patch kid

Huskies are actually very intelligent , the GSD aims to please while the Husky aims to live free. Huskies like to be rewarded for doing commands, if they don't see any benefit in it (treats) then they are more than likely to just ignore you. I have a Husky and a GSD , training wise my Husky actually learned all of my commands faster than my GSD. He can do every command my GSD can. The biggest difference is that my GSD can do them lighting fast without being rewarded except with a " good girl " , my husky on the other hand is like " I don't see any treats in your hands!" 😂
Huskies are just here for the snuggles. Also, they seem to also have separation anxiety. They can not be left alone, they should always be with someone either another dog or a human.
Sounds more like personal experience rather than facts. Both can be cuddley and loving family pets, especially if aversive training is avoided. Both can be separated from their owner without anxiety if trained appropriately. 🙂
my 3mo husky is really smart, he can learn tricks fairly fast but... he doesn't like to listen, he prefers to sing 😂 oooh he is so adorable tho, i dont mind the nibbles and the headaches
I have a husky German shepherd, and she is such a wonderful dog, very clever loyal protective and extremely loving dog. I wouldn't change her for another dog. I have the best of both in one.
I miss my Kahne. Such a great boy in a GS. He was great around other dogs as long as they were smaller and or female. 11 years was not long enough. He was my precious big boy.
I have a German shepherd dog so I chose a German shepherd dog because this is very intelligent and cute but husky is also cute and intelligent so both are best
Huskies are nightmares to train and anything in between. Like 90% of the husky owners I've ever met had no idea what they were getting into when they bought one. GSD is so, so much nicer to train.
German shepherd! They are very obedient but huskys… if you don’t CONSTANTLY train them, they turn into a spoiled rotten three year old that yells back and doesn’t listen AT ALL.
I had an amazing German, she died at 10 years old, heartbreaking. Our husky is currently 5 years old, didn't know they live approximately 14 years. That was good to hear. Love all my dogs. Can't compare them to each other.
Huskies are extremely aloof, stubborn, and wander-prone, they act like cats in dogs bodies, I wouldn't exactly call them loyal. They also make terrible guard dogs. The two breeds aren't really comparable and are bred for completely different purposes. If you want an energetic, funny, playful running buddy, get a husky. If you want a highly trainable, loyal, guard dog, get a gsd.
I wouldn’t say a Husky isn’t smart. Mine is one of the smartest dogs I’ve seen. It all depends on who is training it. Because if your not alpha the husky is training you lol
I own the husky, at times she's smarter than my family. I can't be happier with my dog, she's my best friend and comes with me everywhere, including work

Both have intimidating natural face first impressions that made me doubt how true my neighbors say they're friendly and like cuddles, I used to think how scary it was to wake up seeing these faces, but they really are friendly. Did not expect it was their chihuahua and japanese spitz that took me days to get along.
My most favorite animal in the universe is the husky. They are soooooo cute 🥰❤❤❤ plus, the are playful and are still not bad for being your body guard. I am happy you told us to choose. 🙃
Both great dogs, I have a white shepherd thats the size of a king shepherd hes a great dog and hes still strong and healthy at 11 years old. Hes 28.5 inches tall at the shoulders and 107 pounds. Both breeds require a good bit of exercise and stimulation and in my experience both have separation anxiety problems. I take my dog to my gmas while I work so he is around people instead of alone all day everyday while Im working. They formed a great bond with him and love the company and peace of mind he is very protective of his family.
@@benm4903 that’s not what I meant. Bite force measurements are notoriously inaccurate. The dogs never bite as hard as they possibly can when theyre measuring it. The point I was trying to make was these two breeds are too different to compare. They have totally different purposes. It’s like comparing a kitchen knife to a whisk and asking what’s the better kitchen utensil. They should compare two dogs capable of guarding or two sled dogs. Not dogs with totally different purposes
German Shepherd‘s are the best. I have a German shepherd half min pin. He’s just a bit smaller but he acts like a German shepherd he is the cutest ever.
German shepherd 100% German Shepherds are slightly stronger than Huskies, but both breeds have different strengths. German Shepherds are known for their power and muscle, often used in roles like police work. Huskies excel in endurance and cold weather activities like sledding.
I mean, the Husky won't break your heart as soon (although I don't know if those lifespan numbers are quite accurate, I'm not an expert but ten years seems kinda short for something that isn't like a Great Dane or something)... On the other hand, the German Shepherd won't make you go deaf. The husky doesn't have the same potential health problems as the shepherd, but the shepherd is also way less likely to throw temper-tantrums and is probably easier to train for even those who are less experienced. It's really all dependent on what you look for in a dog! Honestly a GSD/Husky (or Malamute) mix sounds like it'd be awesome. I've seen a couple before and, like most dogs crossed with huskies, VERY pretty.
A lot of the problem with GSD lifespans is the *stupid* hip standard the show branch of the breed suffers from that results in a low, sloped back and a tendency for the spine to just collapse after a certain point. The working line is better through, and judicious breeding with things like the Malinois seem to be fixing the show breed problems.

Having both of them i think if i choose one definitely GSD because they are a really good family dog at the same time a perfect gaurd dog too. Husky are a great family dog until it comes to gaurding. I like them both so much
I wouldn't say Huskies are less intelligent but they are harder to train. They are very intelligent but they're also very independent and won't listen to you if you don't make them want to listen to you.
I have both. They're both fantastic. Just the Husky sheds so much more. That part is painful LOL. But both of these dogs are not for people who don't have a big backyard for them to run in
I have both. My GSD mix listens when food is involved. My husky just doesn't care though. He comes inside when he wants to come inside and demands that everyone go to sleep when he wants to sleep or is a huge diva about it. Both are great family dogs though and extremely loyal

I agree to both being great dogs. However I've owned the GSD for 20+ years and found them to be the better of the two. Our male was 15 years old b4 passing and the female was 12. Cousin raised the Husky and had its issues. My opinion.
People misinterpret Siberian Huskies to be a Russian dog or Russian variant. They are more closely related to the Chukchi people and their culture as they were bred specifically for the harsh winter environments within Siberia. While yes Siberia is part of Russia, it was not originally.
