Clutch and drum on the Husky is heavier and stronger too. It would be nice if they would combine the best attributes of each brand into one great saw. Which aftermarket brand crankshaft would you consider the best, hardness, and quality?

Top end power and bottom end power could be a direct relationship to the weight of piston and crank on each saw? No expert but that would tend to make sense to me.

Interesting the 038 mag is a 52mm bore, I would have thought the 044 would be larger bore, I was under the impression the 44 replaced the 038

In 1990 I went to my local Stihl dealer to shop for my first logging saw, I was looking to get an 038. I looked at the 038 MagII, the 044, and the 064. The 038 was 72.2cc @15 pounds, the 044 was 70.7cc @ 12.8 pounds, and the 064 was 84.9cc @ 15.2 pounds. The 064 balanced perfectly with a 24" bar and chain. My dad had been running 064s since 86 and thought them to be the better saw. I walked out with a 064 and alot of other folks did too. I did eventually buy a 038 Mag II many years later, and my first 064 is still going strong. If my memory serves me right, Stihl ended the 038 MagII in 1993. All three are great saws.
