Does it make sense to buy a "county line" bar and chain for a work saw? Is the Tractor Supply Store Brand " County Line " a waste of money? I once would have said "yes", not so sure now. :)
There is a difference between running saw in a controlled environment vs. just raw work... SO much more comes into play when u actually work a saw vs. just run cookies in a measured cant. Balance,
The spinning part effecting how easy to operate the saw. Cut speed over a period of time and varied size & diameter of tree & brush. Fuel usage. Vibration. Noise. A Cant cut doen't show you if a chain snatches bush or cuts it. For that matter an aggressive raker chain to beat a cant cut time will often snag brush and pull it into your hand. But those who work a saw over a period of years know this. Most hobby types will learn over time. :)
Running them back to back is telling.... about how good the 262 was in it's day actually. AND running Bar & Chain combinations back to back is ALSO telling how far the cheese ball aftermarket brands like County ( NOT Country ) Line have come. Run them and real time reactions before I had time to think & rationalize :)

I dont know that we got a 560 in Canada. I dont recall see one. I have to say 262 is a really nice saw in small wood. Compact unit that is quick to spin up. A factory hot rod in its day.

I don't think North America got a 560, I built mine out of 555 cases, a Jonsered 2260 crank and a later 562 ignition, top end, and carb setup.

In my area the 262 and it's smaller brother the 257 were very popular. My buddy still uses a 257 as his back up saw cutting fire wood, it runs great, it's not slowing us down cutting smallish maple trees up. Most all of them have a 16 inch .325 bar on them, this makes them really good limbing tree tops. I've never seen a 560 in person, I dont think they sold well, the 555 and 550 are quite popular tho. I have found the newest chinese bars and chains to be just as good as the low end oregon bars and chains.

the 560 wasn't offered in the US, I made that one.

that 262 probably faster than modern Echo of same size. Odd saw, small mount bar, big power, high revving. Husky never improved on it. It was the perfect pulpwood saw. However at the same time timber processors were improving dramatically. The move after that was to bigger saws and bigger timber.

The 357xp and the 560xp had the same principle, small mount bar with .325, big power, high revving. Perfect for the purpose they were made which is cutting and limbing larger softwoods in the 15"- 25" range. 8"-15" is 550xp wood and 0"-10" is 543xp territory. At least that's my opinion on those saws. The timber processors are great at clear cutting but thinning and selective cut is where the guy with a chainsaw might be slower but does a better job selecting trees to cut and the processors start losing efficiency.

So what is the BEST B&C combo for it?? I would like to find a 24 that's light and has a wide enough "tail" not to pitch chains.

.325 prob better but used 3/8 to keep uniformity also with 8 pin sprocket which was all that was available to us. Yep processors do a horrible job. Trample new growth.

Was that 560 the Ultimate old man saw you built a few years back? I loved watching that build and admired that saw, Thanks for the informative video!

Walt correct me if I'm wrong isn't the 560 husky just the small mount version of the 562 I guess it would be the husky version of my saw the jonsered 2260?

A 560 is an orange 2260... or a 2260 a red 560

Walt, has there been any updates/upgrades for that UOMS that is new to the channel that WE haven’t been made aware of? It just seems to run a bit “differently” than the last time that I remember.

Just run time it's now broke in and a really free feeling snappy saw. Runs better than my 562 now. But it's also has another 100 hours on it.

262 all day I'll never own a saw with a computer chip. I rate them right up there with saws with carb limiters. No earthly need for them.

560 is faster than the 262 anyhow they are best saws I have ran, it's too bad that they've stopt producing the 262,y think it's a legendary saw
