It occurs to me that a guy bringing in something that is "low on power" or "doesn't run right" a less than honest shop could take the customer for a ride. Well done, Sir.
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag Год назад
That could happen and that shop might make an immediate buck. If the customer isn't happy then it could be the last buck they ever spend there. Theres only X amount of customers and the more you can earn their trust and double up on their repairs the better off the shop will be.

Blows my mind at the filthy condition people send these saws in to a repair shop. An obvious indication they don’t maintain their equipment and that they never even took it apart to try to diagnose the problem themselves.
@TheGreasyShopRag

Agreed, it blows my mind as well. BUT, I'd be out of a job if everyone knew how to maintain their equipment.

@@TheGreasyShopRag I work on the units for refrigerated semi trailers and box trucks. It involves a industrial HVAC compressor, a very simple diesel tractor engine, a small emissions filter, some electronics and logic to make sure the box temperature stays constant, a little satellite controller, and sometimes a high voltage electric motor when the unit can plug in while getting loaded instead of running the engine. The most annoying part is constantly getting up on ladders since the unit is from chest height up to 13’6”. But I got used to it and learned to keep my knees bent and not twist them. I don’t have to lift anything heavy and I only get dirty up to my elbows. It’s a job where you have to be patient because the liquid refrigerant takes time to travel through the system. There isn’t a whole lot of really good techs for these, but there’s millions of units that are constantly bouncing down the road and wearing out. People gotta eat and job security is an understatement.

It is shocking to me that someone would have bought that saw and spent that much money, so I would think there not just cutting here and there, but they didn't know to make sure the chain was on the sprocket correctly. People really amaze.

Lol, thats not something from any text manual. Its just something I decided to do so if anyone claims its a janky repair I really cant argue. I suppose there is a chance of creating an out of balance situation with the clutch but I've never had any problems or complaints.

@steveriggenbach90
@steveriggenbach90 Год назад
I think you are, it helps protect the internal parts. The performance will definitely be helped. The clutch expands and then is held captive. I don’t think you’ll feel it as much as the performance. The flywheel sees the most stress because of the distance. How many people break an opposite tooth to keep vibration down. It all adds up to better performance and longevity of the saw. You’re great on those details, one reason why I’m here. Take care.

Replacing the drive rim, yet running an old stretched chain; will that tend to quickly wear the new rim?

Hey Scott, you wouldn't have any ideas why both my 550 XP Mark II, and 562XP could be leaking small amounts of bar-oil when stored for more than a few days at a time, would you?
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag Год назад
Is the leak more than just the clutch cover draining off?
@albertkropp
@albertkropp Год назад
@@TheGreasyShopRag Not sure how to tell that. It's just a small puddle if the saw sits more than a few days. Usually seems to be the same amount, weirdly.

@@TheGreasyShopRag Just seems odd that both of them do it. My old 460 Rancher never did it. Are the saws supposed to be stored on their sides, rather then upright?

@TheGreasyShopRag Год назад
@@albertkropp No, some saws just leak. Some have problems and leak more. Others don't leak at all. The Husqvarna owners manual basically says to empty the tank when not in use 😞

Person who runs that saw, needs to do regular prescribed maintenance, needs to learn how to correctly mount a chain and from the looks of it, need to learn how to correctly sharpen a chain. Just the top angles are all over the place. Or he could just leave it to someone, who knows what they’re doing and when to do what isn’t being done. Just because you can buy a saw, doesn’t mean you should use one.
