Awesome mower. Gorgeous yard and property. I haven’t owned a Hyperdrive but I have had 2 different Hustlers in the past 15 years. I have used or ridden on just about every mower on the market and I can genuinely say I preferred my mowers over every single one of them. The Smoothtrak steering and integrated parking brakes are the 2 biggest selling points to me over any of the competitors.
👍👍 my old xone with Parkers is faster than many mowers I have been on. Have you ever done a video on your fertilization and weed maintenance? The real star of your videos is the lawn- very nice sir!
I found your channel a while back when looking at reviews for various mowers and just wanted to say you do a great job with these mower comparisons. After watching your X-Ride vs Hyperdrive comparison video I decided it was time to spend some money. I had already decided on a Hustler because the shop I’ve always used to have work done is a Hustler and Scag dealer and only 10 minutes from my house. I ended up getting the X-Ride because my dealer gave me a great deal on it and they dropped it off last Friday. The specs say mowing speed is up to 13 mph. I was getting 14 mph when using GPS on my phone. My neighbor, who’s a local LEO, clocked me doing nearly 15 on his radar gun while I was cutting grass. He thought it was hilarious. I wanted the Hyperdrive because of the drive motor setup. It’s simply the best in the business right now. But the ZT-5400’s are good enough for now since I’m mowing flat land. There will be an upgrade in a couple years though.
I appreciate feedback like this. I truly try to be fair and unbiased. I’ve still got that XRide and truly enjoy that mower. The suspension gets better every time I use it. I truly think that the 26” tires really compliment the hydrogear setup also. Congrats on your mower and thank you for the info!
I’ve walked on your grass, that you’ve worked hard to get in this shape, it’s like walking on thick pillow’s! So I know it can’t be easy to mow, great video ,very informative! Thank you for sharing
i demoed one today and i can confirm thisnmower will mow thick bahia grass at 16 mph my dealer has clocked a hyper drive at 17 mph btw i run only deere for past 8 years and i have to say this mower will absoulutly walk circles around my big jd 970r in everyway and it rides much better and is way smoother
Appreciate the input. Ive never mowed Bahia but have had many ask about other grass types on here, this will help others. Deere makes a great mower but as you stated they ride extremely rough. My neighbor added springer forks and that helped but still nothing like a hyperdrive ride. I’ve got a video on here showing Deere compared with my hustler.
I ended up buying a Hyperdrive last summer with the 38.5 HP Kawasaki because of your reviews last year. Love the mower, like riding on clouds compared to what I had.
I currently own a Gravely ZT HD 60. It’s a residential mower. Never cut grass for a living, but I come from 2 Hustler Super Zs. There’s absolutely no comparison and I wish I still had my 2016 Super Z 60. Hard to beat a Hustler mower!!
@@americandream_89 I had to sell my Hustler due to personal circumstances. This is when I bought the residential Gravely. The price and a 5 gallon fuel tank was much better than the Hustler XDX with a 3 gallon tank.
Another awesome point!! I subscribed to your channel for the mower reviews. & this is another very valid point! My mowers won’t run as fast, period! I’ve bumped the stops on my older Ferris, I’ve gps’d the speed, but can’t remember off hand, 14-15mph-ish…. But it won’t cut but around 9-10mph-ish? 72” on a 32hp carburetored Vanguard. I’ve bought a new Wright ZXT in October, 72” w/the EFI 40hp Vanguard. I’ve not gps’d it? But I’d say that 13mph-ish, & it’ll cut that fast. But you can’t hold on to it, & the mower bounces causing it to look like crap! So, I’m actually thinking the cutting speed of the Ferris feels a shade faster. I’m currently in contact w/my Bad Boy dealer, on trading my new Wright in on a Rogue. I’ve owned the 1st year Rogue, & I honestly think it was built on a Friday 13th @ 5pm. But I still loved the ride, power, & speed of cut. It all boils down to PRODUCTIVITY in the end? Keep these great episodes comin! Thx!
Thank you for the sub! I truly enjoy feedback and knowledge. I’ve got bad boy committed to coming out so I’m lining that up now. That bad boy rear suspension platform seems slick. I’m curious on both of those mowers how they perform. I’ve tried multiple times to get Ferris out but they haven’t responded. Wright seems to be a very honorable company and well built. I wonder how the 2 world do with similar motors etc? I agree as someone with a big yard I don’t have time to waste. So speed of cut is very important. I cut almost 6 acres weekly in less than 2 hours and I’m on nothing but hills. Thanks again for all that info it will help others also.
Thx, & yeah for sure! I’m lookin forward to the Bad Boy episode. I’m tellin ya, you’ve got a great looking place there. That yard is awesome! Love those deep rooted stripes, that takes a lot of work & repetition. Kudos man! I mow as a side job, everything from a sandy cemetery on a crest of a hill, some small residentials, to several rural 2-4acre places. I prefer the larger areas of course? I’m located in northeast Arkansas, so there’s hills & flat agriculture areas. Terrain & grasses are a hodgepodge! 2/3rds of my customers want the every 2wk cuts, & I get that? It’s a money thing. The taller grasses demands more on a mower, clearing the cuttings from the deck is a real thing. As far as mower needs, everything I mow is rough in some sort? It all may look smooth, until u run a mower over it! Steep hillsides or roadsides, dips from drainages, to tractor tracks. There’s no golf course on my customers! On the little drainage areas, the suspensioned mowers will walk them catty-corner them w/a better cut, over a stiff frame mower. Now given, I’ll run the non-discharge side along both sides the drainage, that way it blends better when ur mowin that area. It keeps down the tall/short effect of crossing them, no matter which direction ur crossing it.
Just traded my 22 X-One for a 24 Hyperdrive and it hauls the mail! I won't mow at 16 mph because my lawn is just too rough in spots but it sure is fun to put it to the wood when you can.
Love watching your videos sir. Yes, people get overly sensitive about their mowers and why they are the "best." Best for one, may not necessarily be best for another as it largely depends on your needs and cutting conditions. Scag, Deere, Exmark, Ferris, Toro, Gravely, etc.. all make fine mowers. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. What people should be thinking about is dealer support.
100000% correct. I try to teach that anytime I’m talking to someone about mowers. Dealer support will make or break a company. It will also frustrate a home owner to talk bad about a good mower that has a bad dealer. That’s 80% of the reason nonsense is talked about on the internet. I hear someone say almost every day my mower is junk (not brand specific) it won’t start etc which has nothing to do with the brand of mower. They go to the dealer and then the dealer takes a month to fix it or something similar. Probably not the best case scenario, but I think we’re on the same page. Thanks for chiming in. I always appreciate your input.
I just talked to him about tractors a few weeks ago. I’m starting to look into a new tractor. I would like to get John Deere back out for more testing and test mean green again with a high lift blade. I’ve seen some say with a true high lift they cut great.
Some people dont understand having the ability to mow at 16 when and where you can even if its 10% of the time saves you time makes you more money. I dont think theres any mower you can possibly compare to it besides a cheetah and the ferris. Only reason i say ferris is that suspension is no joke. And neither of those mowers are running 21cc parker motors and pumps…
The main reason prefer the hustler is ride quality and they offer a 66" cut. With that out of the way both are great cutting machines but totally different ideas on execution. Hustler is a heavy machine vs Exmark. Hustler to me seems do do better in dry cuts but the new adapt system gives exmark a nice versatile cut in any grass. You can mower faster by far with hustler and not jar your teeth out. I truly never try and steer people to a product and both companies make a great mower. I would say as Ive said before after you use a hyperdrive everything else in some aspect goes backwards. Literally nothing on the market offers anything better from hydraulic power, cut and smooth driving. If you get a chance demo one id love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve run the ISX3300 and it is a really comfortable ride. I think the QOC is OK, not as good as Exmark, Scag, or Deere. For me, the Toro HDX with “MyRide” was even more comfortable. I do like the BV40 motor though.
Hustler is king of commercial mowers for making money, but I wonder if Ferris takes it a bit easier on your body, due to the suspension? Your thoughts…
I’ve never personally ran a Ferris so my opinion would come from the idea of the suspension platforms I’ve used. I think if you had rough ground the Ferris would be great from the aspect of ride comfort. As for cut all the suspension platforms I’ve used don’t relay the feedback from ground to operate until it’s too late. So therefore your cutting requires more effort and attention to the ground. Where as with a stable platform you feel the terrain instantly and tend to adjust accordingly greatly increasing your overall cut quality. To answer your question though I’d guess nothing would ride like a Ferris.
@americandream_89 what is your thoughts on scalping? I'v heard that the ferris is more confortable but that translate into more scalping as you will go faster then you should and the suspension flex will allow the deck to contact the ground.
@@tg0003bpa I’ve not personally ran a Ferris yet. I’ve been trying to get them to come out for over a year now. But I have seen that issue your referencing mention multiple times on the forms. Without using one myself, though, I don’t wanna jump to conclusions. Theoretically it seems very possible though.
