I bought a large 2,4 x 1,2 m. Weldkar welding table for my shop. Here's a video about why i bought it, the installation, some cleaning and testing flatness and twist.
Your table surface deviation measurement with the tension exerted by the clamp was very clever! Thanks for sharing. Perhaps you could make a follow up review on it? As at the time I am writing this comment, it has been over a year... Thanks for sharing.
I love my welding table, which i made myself based on a 16mm hole pattern. The tables are not as precise indeed as a machining surface, but offer a good start in welding up something larger which then can be machined into spec when needed. Having clamping holes saves so much time when welding something large, as you can just setup everything first which won't move, when tacking everything up or welding it through. And you cannot have enough clamps, luckily most of them you can easily fabricate yourself when you have a lathe and a saw ;)
Gday Bart, very nice welding table and a great asset to the shop, I’m sure it will last you many’s years, I honestly thought it wouldn’t have been that flat, very well made and thanks for sharing mate, Cheers
