This video goes into what I think of leak sealant in HVAC systems. The purpose of leak sealant is to be able to more quickly and cost-effectively seal a leak in the refrigerant circuit of an HVAC system. In this video, I show an example of a system that we added the sealant to last summer and appears to be holding its charge. The overall effectiveness of leak sealant I would guesstimate to be around 40 to 50% but these are just estimates. The product that I use most frequently is Nu Calgon. I have used others in the past, but this one I like due to seemingly similar product quality but this one's installation being quite easy and it's wide availability at supply houses locally.
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any other input on this matter, as I do not consider myself to be any kind of expert in the field of leak sealants, but rather an expert in general HVAC.
