I just noticed my power steering leaking on mine as well. What did you need to do to yours? Did you have to replace this part? Seems like it’s more for the brakes than the steering, so I am kinda confused, lol…

Funny I’m about to replace the HydroBoost on my express. I noticed a small leak, also noticed someone replaced the mast are cylinder with a cheap China one maybe for a vacuum assist setup not for the hydroboost. The brakes work but feel spongy. I replaced a leaking rear whee cylinder so that actually helped. I got a used oem master and HydroBoost from a junk yard, I figured I could rebuild them if need be. Thanks for the awesome videos!

Hey man was there a seal in between the master cylinder and booster? I have a leak after replacing the booster in between the two
@VanwithTim

No seal there. Determine if it’s brake fluid or power steering fluid and that will tell you whether it’s the internal seal of the master cylinder or a defective Hydroboost. Sorry for your luck :/

Sorry for the late reply - are you talking about the spring and clip assembly I remove @9:13 ? If so, no need to worry about reusing this piece. It's not the cause of the leak. It's been 17 months and still leak free on my unit thankfully!

@VanwithTim

Hi, the small o-rings go on the ends of the two power steering lines that thread into the unit. Your old ones may be fine but it’s recommended to replace them any time the lines are removed 👍

@Thevon1962
@Thevon1962 3 года назад
Why did you decide to replace it. Great video by the way.
@VanwithTim
@VanwithTim 3 года назад
Good question. Mine was leaking power steering fluid in the driveway, and I didn't want to risk losing my power brakes on such a big vehicle. You can usually determine a leaking hydroboost by wiping your finger underneath where the master cylinder and the hydroboost bolt together. If there's power steering fluid present, your hydroboost is leaking. If there's brake fluid present, your master cylinder is leaking. Thanks for the comment! -Tim
@mariohernandez18
@mariohernandez18 2 года назад
nice video. my power steering leak from that is that the problem?
@VanwithTim
@VanwithTim 2 года назад
Thanks Mario. Yes, if it's leaking power steering from between the master cylinder and hydroboost unit you'll need to replace the hydroboost just like me
@GhostHammerX
@GhostHammerX 26 дней назад
@@VanwithTimQuestion: I can’t tell exactly where the leak is coming from, since everything is covered in oil, but it seems like it’s in that general area…also, my brakes feel fine and there is no loss of brake fluid…but my power steering fluid is definitely leaking. Why would I need to replace the whole unit, instead of just a gasket or something?
@jaxpon1597
@jaxpon1597 Год назад
do you think that a 99 savanna would be about the same ?
@VanwithTim
