I'm on 3 BP meds... hydralazine, Lisinopril, and doesn't really help unless I make sure my sugar level stays under 90...so I cut out rice, pasta, potatoes and sugary vegetables. No processed foods. I went from 287 to 239 lbs in a few months. BP went from 198/90 to 130/70. I fast 20/4..works well for me. I have 39 lbs to go...then I'll be at 200 lbs.. which is a major goal for me
I'd been on 25mg of this since 2014 and had no issues until this year. My feet and ankles began to swell and my skin became very itchy. I only take one other prescription and some trial and error by my doctor and she took me off of this. After about 2 weeks I returned to normal. I don't know what that was all about but I feel a whole lot better than I have in a very long time.
Thanks this information has been very helpful I've been taking it for about 2 years now I take it at night and yes it makes me pee a lot and my blood pressure has been under control thank you keep up the good work
I read up on Hydro.... And have read that it leads to cancer. Please look for natural ways to control blood pressure. Do not drink whatever Eric is suggesting.
I just started on this medication a few days ago and would say the dizziness is the worst side effect for me. I really hope my body adjusts to this in the next few days/weeks.
Do you know what this drug does to your body ? Have you done any research on this drug before starting it ? If you have hypertension then you need to change what you're putting in your body...
@@northofmainstreet7281 I didn't exactly have time to research when I was in the ER and put on this. I have since been researching hypertension and the meds that I have been prescribed. I am no longer taking hydrochlorothiazide but take two other meds. I kept off prescription meds my entire life until now. Unfortunately I need the extra help for my BP issues. Hopefully someday with changes in diet and taking care of myself better I get can get off them.
Have you thought about a discussion on ADHD symptoms and how to help? There are so many misconceptions about ADHD and how to treat it. I enjoy your clear presentation for the non medically trained.

This medication is hard on the body and makes you feel like crap, it depletes all of your electrolytes not just sodium. It can cause your mental health to decline. It can cause higher blood sugars. Taking this medication I could not lose weight because of the high blood sugars. It makes you crave sugar at an alarming rate because your body isn’t holding on to electrolytes so your kidneys want the sugar to try and hold on to some electrolytes, thus causing weight gain. Also I would always get random kidney pains and spasms in that region. This medication made me sun light sensitive and itchy. I was getting sciatica and chronic back pain from it, the electrolytes help stimulate your nerves and nervous system thus being low in them can cause so many issues. Electrolyte deficiency can cause chronic cortisol elevation. I had extremely low libido and could not hold an erection, also it exacerbated my ADHD to where I couldn’t concentrate on the slightest thing for more than a few minutes, low electrolytes can cause neurotransmitter disruption thus making my ADHD worse. It caused my hands and feet to always get numb, this is associated with lack of nerve stimulation and or damage to the nerves. Lastly this medication increased my heart rate I was always tachycardic my heart rate just after a simple walk would be 110-130 my resting heart rate would always be high 90s-100. This medication is so harsh, and I had no clue it was this medication causing me so many health problems, my Dr never explained any of this to me. What I did was up my magnesium via supplement with magnesium glycinate and ate potassium rich foods, and my BP normalized within a week, and all these side effects subsided in about 3 weeks. I’ll never take a diuretic again..
Hello doctor, I use to have frequent urinating, a pharmacist prescribed hydrochlorothiazide, I make research my self and I discovered it makes you pee more so I decided not to use the drug. Please help me out.
It hurts my kidneys and makes my blood feel gluggy increasing chest inflammation. That's with 1/8 of a tablet only! If I try to stop it raises my pressure higher than before. I hate medication.
