I was super fit, had normal cholesterol levels, and still had a heart attack. After having one stent, the cardiologist put me on Lipitor 80mg, then 40mg… but life has become worse for me. The heart attack, though it was a severe one, only hurt me for three days, but the medication they put me on making life harder for me for the last 4months. I’m gonna quit lipitor.

I am 48 now, 3.5 years ago had a Heart attack. I never had Cholesterol, Diabetes or blood pressure. Used to be one of the fit man on earth. My life has completely changed now. Always feel palpitations. I am not able to sleep feel heart speed. The put 4 stents in my body. They put me on Atrovastatin. Metroproliln, lisoprilin Asprin, Ignore spelling error please. I became type one diabetes and going to towards type 2. It's all my family history of Heart attacks and diabetes and blood pressure. One thing to discuss info can be helpful for others. I had strong Migraine for the 30 years, every next day having migraine was my life However since I had stents and Heart attack my 30 had completely gone. There were three research people with migraine have chances for heart attack and strokes.

Right, do most Dr.s take time or have time to discuss possible side affects??It all depends on the individual.It seems like if they tell you about side affects, they think you will automatically imagine having all the side affects! Psychosomatic ? Communication skills need to improve in the medical field.

Although your video covered a lot of ground, there is one very critical side affect you failed to discuss. I am a 77 year old male and have been on statins for about 10 years. Recently, I have been experiencing a condition known as myositis. After doing my do diligence, I have found medically based information linking statins to myositis. For the last 3 years, I have been to 5 doctors seeking diagnosis as to why my legs go numb but each doctor found nothing. According to the information I found, statins can lead to myositis, which can result in permanent damage to muscle tissue. I strongly recommend that anyone on statins pay close attention to their bodies and if abnormal muscle weakness or numbness randomly occur, STOP TAKING STATINS IMMEDIATLY. Consult with you doctors immediately because myositis can be forever and in some cases, fatal.

It is not LDL which causes problems. It is DAMAGED LDL. LDL damaged by our obsession with carbs/sugars, combined with no exercise. A better indicator is triglycerides. My TG is 43, my LDL 188, my HDL 73. I refuse to take lipitor. (Told my doctor where to put it!) Would rather die first. Am 70, and in amazing physical shape

I suggest that this doctor, tries the high dose 80mg. on atorvastatin for 6 months. I have tried that, and now I understand, what it means for the body and brain, when you supresses the two most important enzymes. The enzymes are there for a reason. Took 10 million years to develope them. When supressing them, we are talking about toxication of your body. I dont care if I live 5, 8 or 10 years more. But I wont take the statins anymore. To me it simple. 6 months in Statin hell was simply not worth the benefits, if there were any at all, or its all just marketing.

I’ve been on Atorvastatin for two years since my heart attack. I get the muscle ache you refer too. I thought about stopping them but my dr didn’t recommend it. Having listened to this video I’ve decided to keep taking them. The Dr simply didn’t have the time to go into this much detail. I’ve made major changes in my diet which is why I contemplated dropping the statins. Unfortunately, family and friends who have had heart problems seem to be unable to change their diet. It’s a sad fact that most people are unable to eat differently. It’s simply beyond their mental strength. If they give it a go they just mess about at the edges. The answer is to change your environment otherwise you will fail.

My partner is experiencing memory loss from taking lipitor. I noticed this soon after be began taking it. At the time I was not smart enough to work it out. I mentioned his memory loss to his doctor at one stage and he just dismissed it. I will be his nurse when he ends up with dementia, therefore l will be his doctor now and take him off it with his acknowledgment of course. He is constantly complaining of brain fog. I had every symptom listed and not muscle pain but loss of the use of my legs.....I took myself off because he wouldnt take me off it. My blood sugar normalized my BP normalized, my type 2 pre diabetes went away, 52 percent people on statins have type 2 diabetes symptoms that is not Small. These are dangerous drugs unless a person has had a heart attack. They are over used. Doctors need to do 100 percent blood analysis and gut biome analysis before prescribing any drug. That is due diligence. Functional medicine before drugs should be mandatory. . Our Big Pharma needs higher regulation on false studies and too high prices and perks to doctors to push these meds. Not buying this.

My total cholesterol is 184. LDL is 102. HDL at 67. Triglycerides at 65. I was on 10 mg for many years because of “family history”. The numbers I cited are my most recent ones and taken after I decided to take the med every other day. Now I’m down to one pill every 3 days. My doc is unhappy that I’m doing this. My “family history” has nothing to do with me. Previous generations of my family were obese and ate a terrible diet. I’m 5’10 and 155 pounds. I’m 67 years old. I exercise regularly (intense) and an avid hiker and biker. I eat healthy along with intermittent fasting. Now I’m closely monitoring my BP and since it’s been low I’m weaning my way off that med as well. I’m tired of the medical establishment treating symptoms (or proactively because of family history) with their pharmaceutical potions instead of fostering a healthier lifestyle.

Questions: Why do you feel Atorvastatin is superior to simvastatin with ezetimibe? I've had much better results with 10/10 dose of generic vytorin then I had with 40 mg of Atorvastarin.
@ErikRichardsonDO
@ErikRichardsonDO 4 года назад
Thanks for the question. I really didn't address ezetimibe or state that one is superior than another. Overall most people do very well with just statins and are still the standard of care in most cases. They are still better studied and the end cardiovascular benefits have been well established. Ezetimibe itself isn't as powerful and doesn't have the same cardiovascular data behind it alone, but combined with simvastatin has shown to be effective in decreasing risk of CV disease. It can be a great adjunct and can help some people achieve LDL goals when they aren't tolerating higher doses of statins. Now that vytorin has gone generic it is another tool that we have to use. Glad it's working for you and thanks for watching!

Inflammation from the oral bacteria that entered your bloodstream. Instead of treating the infections, they tell you to floss, brush twice a day, see your dentist regularly. There's a link between gum disease and heart disease. Isn't the link pretty obvious. Plaque is the way bacteria avoid detection from the immune system.

I was put on Atorvastatin a year ago...because my cholesterol was borderline high. My doctor blamed it on my vaping nicotine. I had quit smoking cigarettes about 4 years ago. He gave me the choice to quit vaping or go on IT. From the moment I got on IT...constipation was a constant problem. The only change in my routine was adding that drug. I quite vaping January 2023...and my cholesterol is perfect...per doctor. It may be quitting the vape and not the drug...that is responsible for that improvement. I cannot find that "problem" listed above as a side effect ANYWHERE. Has anyone else on this drug suffered with this side effect? I am going to talk with my doctor about weaning myself off it. I haven't done it yet...because I will admit my diet isn't exactly the healthiest around. I like my sweets and I like my junk food...but have cut down some. My husband is a type 2 diabetic and has been for a long time. I see what he deals with...AND I CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT IT.

Probably shouldnt have started in the first place. Ldl is a most necessary part of your body. It is DAMAGED LDL which is harmful, not LDL. This damage is caused by our insane fascination with simple carbohydrates, and lack of exercise. Lack of exercise being the greatest cause An indication you might be doing this to yourself might be high triglycerides, not high LDL. If your LDL were properly analyzed for its type, one can also determined whether it is damaged. but doctors seldom order this test. Lol. Another might be that big ol' "spare tire" around your middle Your doctor isnt about your health, he is about your sickness. Start to take care of your health, and you wont need him to try to take care of your sickness with these weird, alarming, and destructive concoctions. It is NOT your doctors fault. He should attend to his own health, you should attend to yours. When he sees you he sees someone who isnt attending to his health, so what is he supposed to do? He gives you drugs which you dont need. ATTEND TO YOUR HEALTH, YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU AND WHATS BAD FOR YOU. The ball is in your court, not your doctors. Start by putting aside that "smart"phone for just 1.5 hours each day and hiking 6 miles as fast as you can. Or every other day, OR WHATEVER, JUST DO IT, for gosh sake. (How many hours did you have that phone on your face today????) Also, start eating to live, not eating to entertain yourself.

@@archimedesmaid3602 Thank you! LOL. You are right on point with your reply. I have always been in good shape. During the pandemic, I ate foods I’d never normally eat. I rarely exercised and I gained way to much weight! When I went for my annual physical exam and found out that I had high cholesterol, I immediately lost 20lbs (now 169 lbs). I did this by going on the Mediterranean Diet (cut out most carbs, dairy and NO snacks or sweets), walking 4-8 miles everyday! Then I started riding a bicycle 14-24 miles every other day. I’m continuing to exercise, walk and ride my bicycle. My waist is 32” (I’m 5’9”). After 3 months, my triglycerides increased! So when my doctor wanted me to start the statin, I decided not to, and explained to her that I’d continue the life-styles for another 3 months. I’m hoping with change in diet and rigorous daily exercise, that my numbers are better in December. Wish me luck, and thanks again for your answer! Much appreciated.

Two months ago I started REPATHA which is an injected cholesterol medication and my first blood test had my total number at 150 and my ratio had improved 100%. The injection is very easy with the incapsulated syringe and unexposed needle the process takes 15 seconds every 2 weeks. I encourage you to mention REPATHA to your doctor if you have high cholesterol. Back to the statin subject..none of them helped my cholesterol numbers dramatically anyway.

One of the regular employees at work was talking about the bad side effects from this drug . I haven’t experienced any of the side effects but I dam sure don’t want to get brain fog or dementia, so I’ve stopped taking it , end of long story
