This is really great especially for St. Benedict's Day tomorrow. Thank God for him and Pope Benedict too. Dr Mary Berry taught me Gregorian chant many years ago and I owe her a lot.

That's fantastic! I consider Dr Mary Berry kind of my musical grandmother, as my first mentor (when I was a young teenager) was Jeffrey Morse who also studied from her.

This is hardly ''Transitus'' of Saint Benedict, but ''translatio'' of his relics the 11th July, now in the Roman Calendar ''Saint Benedict, Protector of Europe''. The real ''transitus'', his death or his heavenly birthday is always the 21st of March. --- M. Nicholas OSB Obl

Hello Brother! Correct. As I explain in the description, it is, as you say, his "translatio" of relics, but also in a way his transitus as well: "It is one of two days that St. Benedict is celebrated on the Benedictine calendar. But since his first feast day always occurs during Lent (March 21), it is celebrated again on July 11 (connected with transfer of relics) to allow for the appropriate greater joy and festivity." God bless! UIOGD, Br Christopher Jasper, Obl OSB
