I LOVE the tempo and was super keen on this one.... sadly again didn’t go up to UK 13 on launch so hopefully down the line they’ll release my size so I can try it... I reckon it’ll be perfect for that I want!
Happy to hear they were not slippery in wet conditions. I just love those shoes. I love the fit, responsiveness and wouldn't be concerned using them over the marathon distance. They are more stable compared to the Alphalfly and Vaporfly in 90 degree turns. I feel they are as stable as the Endorphin Pro in the turns. Two runs in them and can't wait to put them on again and to compare them at marathon pace with the Alphafly (which were my first choice over the marathon but now not sure anymore). Had no issues with the tongue but yes the laces could be better. Good review.
I'm 57 and never been any type of runner. I've gotten into shape working with personal trainer since Jan 5 days week since January. Before that I wasn't doing anything for 30 yrs at all but sitting behind desk. I got to be 280 pounds and I'm 6ft tall male. Then in 2015 I finally changed my diet for good and without exercise lost my weight to 200 pounds and still hard to get off floor and do easy stuff. Shocked when I found i couldn't do 1 push up. I started in jan now full training and was 36% body fat at 200. Now I'm at 20% body fat and weigh 175 pounds. Now a few people in my boot camp I been doing since Feb 2 days a week are running for fun and going to do some 5ks and the. Work to 10ks. I've now started training with mobile app to work up to 5k. My shoes now are just my daily everything shoe to work gym and working out and it is the hoka arahi 3 which I've had for about yr. I am now wanting and needing new shoes and need some help what would be comfortable running shoe to run in as I train and start running? I've been watching all your reviews and was thinking about the Saucony endorphin speed but not sure if that's good choice for me for my use and running?? Can u help or give me suggestions what good shoes would be
Congratulations on the progress! If you're going to have one pair of running shoes, you'll want some sort of everyday trainer. If you live near a specialty running store, go and get properly fitted. It makes a difference. But you're probably looking at something in the Hoka One One Clifton 7, Pegasus 37, Saucony Triumph, New Balance Fresh Foam 880v10 range of shoes (these are all neutral daily trainers). Your Arahi is a stability shoe, so you'll want to be looking at stability shoes if that's the style of shoe for which you were properly fitted
Thanks I tried some on today at running store. Didn't understand there was neutral and stability shoe and the neutral feels much better than these on my feet. Had no idea... so for sure neutral.
This is like the opposite of what Nike has been doing.. i used the Ghost 12 for recovery cuz it has really nice wide base.. i hope every company wud also be doing what Brooks has been doing.. a nice wide base wud likely be less-prone of an ankle roll
More specific review content on 2 key questions could help clear up a lot of the confusion in the comment thread and be good for all your reviews: (1) What is this shoe for? Marathon racing. Who is this shoe for? People racing marathons with high cadence. You specify that it's a racing shoe at a few points, but you ran a fartlek in it, and you have novice runners in the thread wondering if the shoe is what they need. It's a racing shoe for the marathon distance, and other than some up-tempo runs to get the feel for them, runners shouldn't be training in carbon-plated shoes. Runners without high cadences should also avoid them, as they're not going to get the benefits and just the stiffness. If everyone starts training in these, you'll have a foot pain support group here due to the reduction in dorsiflexion from the stiff soles.
It’s totally okay to carry a poor experience into an evaluation/ review. Marketing is a part of a buying decision, in the same way that when a company does something positive you carry that into an evaluation as well. P.S. Your hair is getting crazy long.
Thanks for this review Mike. Didn't like the first version but by my local Brooks dealer here in Singapore asked me to try out the Hyperion Elite 2. How would this compare to the Saucony Endorphine Pro? I recently bought myself the Adidas SL20 and you nailed it in your review that the shoe just makes you wanna run faster.... Thank you!!!
Hello from France. Thank you very much for all your videos. Big fan of all tests and advices, do you think you could make a video to help heavy weight runners choose the best shoes ? Thanks again for you work.
Good lookin shoe! Do you think a heavier runner might find more comfort at slower paces in this shoe? Sounds like the new midsole really does some work and might comfort at slower paces with more weight coming down. Awesome video man! These are exciting 👍🏼
Thankfully laces are the one thing about a shoe that is cheap and easy to fix, so I would never let that be a deciding factor. I thought about switching out the laces on the Hyp. Tempos, because they’re too long due to my somewhat narrow midfoot, forcing me to double-knot them. The elasticity does make it hard at first to get the chain perfect, but I’m finding that once I get them right in the midfoot they’re staying put thanks to those spiky barb-wire-like edges. I wonder if the tongue would stay in place any better if you wore quarter-high socks? Though if it doesn’t wander more than a little off center and you can’t feel it, that wouldn’t bother me either. I bet they’ll gusset it in version 3, though.
I got a tiny blister in my first run of these today on my heal. Could be the socks. They are comfortable but not as fluid as the Next%. I was hoping! But they'll work
Probably the reason brooks did the whole pre-order of V2 prior to the marathon was not to disqualify their elite's for running in a shoe that wasn't available to the public. Food for thought.
Is it worthwhile changing the laces out to see if lock down feel can be improved? Also, for that tongue check on your long run ... make sure you wear your best socks...don't want to scare anyone if it slips more
My marathon pace is probably slower than your easy pace and honestly these don't feel good 🥴 It's like I'm running having bricks under my feet. The shoes are light, though. I'll try the shoes for faster intervals to see if they perform better. Maybe it's partially due to the lacing you mention. Funny that we both had issue with our left foot. These are actually my first super shoes as I found the Hyperion Elite 2 from second hand market. I love the fit and the upper but these probably will sit on my shelf for a year or two while I get into better shape.
Kofuzi, for somebody who wants to build foot strength and improve the efficiency of their mid-foot strike, would you recommend the Hyperion Elite2, or would a zero-drop runner be better in your opinion? I'm choosing between the Elite2 and Altra Escalante.
Hyperion Elite 2, or Endorphin Speed?? I think I'm leaning towards Hyperion Elite 2, it feels much more stable on my runs for my weak ankles. Thanks for the video, Kofuzi! Have a great day :)
On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being Hoka EVA midsole (for softness) and 10 being the stiffest foam on the market (DNA Zero? I dont have much experience with stiff shoes), where do you have hyperburst and DNA Flash? I find my GoRun Ride 8 hypers to be incredibly stiff (coming from clifton's), and find them to give my knees a beating on 15+ mile runs. If DNA flash is as stiff or more stiff I dont know that these shoes would be a viable option for me.
It’s a racing shoe for the marathon distance. Not something to train in and not good for someone just getting into running. Start with a daily trainer. Then look at a lighter tempo option.
@@TonyYaDiGG That's awesome Tony! The Stryd pod is very cool. There is also a running GPS watch by Coros that was just released that has the Stryd running power built into the watch so you can get two in one :) Have a fun getting started running!
I have 200 miles in both the Skechers Razor 3 and MaxRoad 4 and I’ve felt little to no softening as they have aged. Both maintain a feel similar to the way they ran out of the box.
Kim Jong Yum it’s not simple EVA; it’s nitrogen infused. The Hyperion Tempos (its lower stack sibling) with the same midsole has held up very well so far for me. Over 100 miles and I feel no difference at all yet. Check reviews and comments from people with more miles on that shoe to see what they’re saying.
a great thing about the variety of racing shoes on the market is that there are more great options for a wider variety of gaits and foot strikes. there's something that feels specialized or optimized to each runner.
crazy .. today u gotta shoes with 20mm sole .. next year u r going to run in lady gagas shoes and say that this is the best u can have ,.... the highest performance thanks to modern technologies ''' ...
@@kofuzi people these days always looking for some ambiguities and subtexts everywhere. I'm not a politician or influencer to do so and I clearly wrote that you have wonderful mustache that suits you well. Just a sincere compliment about one's facial hair features.
