I picked up a pair at a discount the week they released. I've really been enjoying putting miles in them. My favorite daily trainers this year that I've tried so far.
This shoe is getting raves reviews, Seth really loves 'em. I wish my card was not so full now. Probably will wait until it is on clearance as I do for most shoes. Meanwhile, I will be running down the road with my Mach 4's for daily training, one of the few shoes I bought right away. I have been pleased though.
Bro, I picked up Novablast 2 today after looong consideration, even after trying on Pegasus 39 during the member access period. Cant wait to use it for my park/road run soon! Thx to your videos, they helped me to make up my mind.
Hey man i just started running this month and after a week, i bought these shoes as i liked how it looked and reviews say this was a great daily trainer. Really happy with my pair. Very comfortable.
I got my novablasts back in 2020 (I believe). I alternated between them and my hokas but they’re still the shoe I reach for the most. I’ll definitely be trying out the 2’s when I wear my current pair out.
I barely just got my novablast ones a month ago so I'm new to asics but am loving them so far 🥰 I'll wait til they go on sale for the second version 😂💁♀️ I've always been a nike girl, but have been wanting to try the novablast and have not been disappointed by them at all! 😍
I am loving my pair of Novablast 2 shoes. I went true to size and find them to be perfectly acceptable. I have some other shoes that fit snug and although that's great, sometimes I like a bit of room. I'll also say that at very slow pace they aren't that great (7-8min/km) but anything less than 6min/km and they are fricking FANTASTIC!! I'm not a heavy guy and these just propel you forward like they have springs under them. Wow. The black version look so dope! ❤️
Thanks for the review and the detailed insights! Looking forward to this version. I really enjoyed v1 as I mostly ended up going slightly faster than my perceived exertions (recovery/easy to moderate) due to its midsole's bounce back. Also, given that I usually enjoy an 8mm more than a 10mm offset, I have high hopes for the v2.
Just ordered the black ones, evidently i got a 40% discount being a healthcare worker, going to retire the original ones at 360 miles, think they still have some life though
I did the exact same thing. I'm in the Army, so I am happy Asics supports people like you and I. I just hope they aren't too big. I ordered my usual 8.5d.
Hi, which one (Novablast 2 ou Mach 4) would be better for long runs in terms of cushion/confort and breathability? and of course stability, for long easy runs is very important. Thanks. In the run footage I saw new hoka, nice video as always!!
I own both and think the novablast 2 is better for long runs. Mach 4 is a fast shoe for me and not as well cushioned. It’s a great tempo or speed shoe and I’d even race in it but when I get to 8+ miles I prefer a little more cushion.
@@DrRx22 I have heard good things about the Nova 2 (not available here yet) but the stability is much better than the V1?, because long runs you get tired and starts to hit the heel down inwards. I am a neutral runner but this happens to me and would like a stable not heavy (as triumph) for distances over 10-12 miles. And the Nova 2 I think is a little heavy on my size US10? Thanks
@@r.cordis8251 I didn’t get the nova 1’s but they had a 10mm drop, the 2’s are 8mm. I literally just ran 8 miles in them and had zero stability issues. I’m a neutral runner too and I don’t even notice the drop in these. The Mach 4’s seem less stable because they are lighter and have less material in the upper. The nova2’s aren’t light but they arent noticeably heavy either (pretty much kept my normal pace today). They are plenty cushioned for me (traditionally a heavier runner I weigh 180lbs now). Personally the asics gliderides had a better rocker motion for energy return but the nova’s are more comfortable in my opinion. Sorry I was wordy but that’s my opinion!
@@DrRx22 Not wordy at all, I understand what you are saying, I will probably wait the Nova 2 arrives here in Brasil and maybe the Rincon 3, see some reviews and probably forget about the mach 4. Thanks again.
Hi Kofuzi, been using pegasus by nike and I use size 9 us, planning to switch to Novablast 2. but hesitant with the sizing issue. would you still recommend a 9? can't try in my local asics because it doesnt carry this model yet. thank you! btw, body build somewhat same as yours for reference
novablast 2 was my first ''expansive'' (in my country) pair of running shoes and wow! i ran more than 800km with it and the only problem is that on top of my toe is almost getting ripped.. but still responsive, stable and confortable!
I am surprised that reviewers see the Gel Nimbus 23 as a dull option, I have run my first 50 miles in them and they seem to be a nice blend of stability and soft cushioning for a daily trainer. This is after a sequence of Ultraboost 20, Triumph 18 and Zoom X Invincibles which thought each had their foibles.... I tried the Novablast 2 on a treadmill in the Asics store and liked them but opted for a bit more stability....
I have the Novablast 1 and I bought them in Dec 2020 for 70 USD. I have currently clocked 700km in the shoes. It is the best value-for-money pair of shoes so far. I use them for my daily and long runs. In terms of sizing, got the usual women's size (normal width) and they were perfect. Perhaps going up half a size would be better since I had some toe blisters on rainy days when the shoes seemed to have contracted a bit. I would love to get another pair in my rotation and I cannot wait to get the 2.
A downside is that it's definitely not for intervals and hilly runs. The thick bottom makes it hard to balance when you are running fast or on uneven surfaces. But if you are just a runner like me who likes doing long, normal paced runs, I think they are really good for value.
I tried the Novablast2 in the store (treadmill) but ended up buying the Rebel2. My brief comparison is that the Nova is firmer and the Rebel spongier. I went with the NB because8 I wanted a soft ride. This is my first super-foam shoe. I'm doing most of my non-trail running in the FF Zante and Launch (started at 2, now on 8).
@Leon 22 I don't know yet about durability. In hindsight, I would've been better off with the Novablast. The Rebel is too squshy for me. I prefer firmer. That works better with my powerful style stride. For me, I feel that too much of the power is absorbed by the squish. I think it works better for heel strikers. I'm a forefoot striker and there's not enough cushion for something that soft.
That's a lot of miles. I started with Hoka Clifton 6. Now it feels like running in sand. I was 220+, now low 180. Taking 1 less metformin for my Type2. Run every other day 3X a week. Added in last week steep hike, it helped me run. But with sore thighs.
So 7 months later and 1000klm, the big toe ripped through the underlayer and it's ready to rip through the upper layer as well. Also the area next in the tong has torn, from me rubbing the shoes between them sometimes. I have very much enjoyed running in them, and thinking of buying these again. I took my decision in the first place from your videos, so thanks for that! Since now is May 22, have you got any alternatives to the novablast2?
Hi, excelent vídeo as always. Sorry, If You need to choose only one between Boston 10 and novablast 2 for daily training and tempo which would it be? Thanks.
Just about to put these on! I have been daily training endorphin speeds for a while and recently got the novablast 2, rebel v2, and Mach 4 to try out! Love the rebel v2 so far just got the other 2 in the mail. Take this with Massive grain of salt as I’m an incredibly mediocre runner at beat and have only ran in the novablast 2 once. But I’m debating on wether to use them again. They caused some discomfort in my arch and a hot spot in the mid foot . I also find them to be less comfortable and springy than the rebel v2 while feeling way heavier. It is a comfortable shoe and built unbelievably well. But I was sadly disappointed. I really appreciate all the work kofuzi puts into everything he does and the community.
I'm looking for a shoe that fits and rides like the NB880v12 but with now cushioning for my longer runs. Would this be a good option? Or possibly Glycerin 20? 🤷♀️ I'm finding I don't like a rocker...more of a traditional ride fits my firm the best. Any thoughts?
Gonna get a pair very soon. Very excited about the tweaks. I have almost 700km in my Novablast 1 and still going strong and I think can extend 200kms more at least. I have used the version 1 for a bit of everything between tempo and easy or long run. As I rack more distance, it takes a bit more effort for those quick intervals but overall comfortable for the rest of runs. Compared to the Pegasus 37 (I find this one more reactive at faster pace) but very happy to have chosen the Novablast in its first iteration and with the second one, is looking promising. Thanks for the great insight
Are these comparable to Pegasus turbo 1 in regards to comfort and squishness? My work demands I stand up most of the time with walking distances. I used the turbo 1 and looking for a replacement for those.
I went a half size down. Usually I wear US 12 for running shoes but due to rumours of the big toe box I went for size US 11.5. Hopefully the shoes will fit! 🤞
The new colour schemes on Asics site look absoultely gorgeous. A nice mix of mundane but attractive instead of screaming running colours of the old. I wish Asics would make a casual everyday shoe with this foam and a knit top in the colours they are offering this shoe.
Flat 10k race on Sunday, not sure whether to take the Novablast 2 or the Magic Speed. Only one run in the Nova 2 so far, felt lovely and bouncy but I think the Magic's do feel a bit faster when you get up on your toes. First World problems!
@@lazyhusband 49mins this time, in the Magic's. I was a bit disappointed to be off PB pace but it was a very hot day. Another 10k race in a few weeks to try again.
Get some Nike vaporfly’s, for a 10k the plate will be more beneficial than the foam of the novoblast esp is ur a mid or forefoot striker as the foam in these shoes only works for heel strikers. It’s all a con if u don’t heel strike!!!
They feel awesome but I really have to get used to them. It's my first higher stack shoe and now it sounds/feels like I'm running on my scuba fins lol I'm forcing myself to change my running form but it's tough.
I wonder how these compare to the ds trainer of old, as it's been a long time since I've used asics. I need something fast and grippy for my daily, as good as my puma deviate nitro's are, I feel I've outgrown them. Any suggestions?
I recently began training for my first half marathon and I’m a heavy set guy at 265 lbs. I’m currently running in the nimbus 23 and really don’t the feel while running. What shoe can you recommend? Thanks!
One could argue, that a hundred miles really isn't that much distance at all! They should easily be able to clock 250 miles before showing any significant degrading, right?
I think if a shoe being too squishy is a concern or if an unstable stack height is a concern, then I'd go to the v2. otherwise, the v1 is a great value at those discounted prices
@@kofuzi hoping to see what the Novablast 2 is like. The Mach 4 was just to tight around the forefoot. I’m barely a wide but it was enough to cause discomfort. Overall the shoe felt great. If you have duck feet the shoe is not for you lol.
@@Navs126 I've put > 600 km on the Novablast v1s and loved them. I bought the Mach 4 and like you, they were uncomfortably tight around the forefoot and I had to return them. So I am seriously considering getting the Novablast v2 now.
it's more on my left than my right. but it causes no problem, even when running 33 miles in them over the weekend. it tends to startle people when they see a shoe's foam compressing in slow motion. but that's what a squishy foam does. it squishes.
Devastated that I might have to return the beautiful, now sold out Celebration of Sport colorway for something else in a half size down. Even for someone like myself who prefers a little extra room up front, this shoe feels like it's just a bit too long in my usual size 11 that works for both Nike and Saucony.
i guess my feet sizing is a bit weird, the size 11 i normally wear is just a bit smaller at the toe box, specifically at the big toe. I guess this is my first Asics shoe and the shape of shoe (kind of sharper toe box instead of boxy) is the cause.
The puckering in the upper around the toes rubbed my toes while walking/running to the point I returned these. I loved everything about this shoe but the puckering is seriously annoying
One question about lacing a running shoe. I have very high arches and orthetics. So the runners knot is possible but leaves me with a tiny amount of laces to work with. But I have to be so careful. If I tie my shoes too tight it feels like someone hit them with a hammer after a kilometer. Any tips ?
I tried the 1st version but with the drop being so high I always felt like my heel was getting in the way when I landed. I try and mid foot strike. Does the new less-drop solve this issue? I loved everything else about the 1's.
What's the discount? ROSS if you're lucky $55.99+ tax. Some people get blisters, though from the V1. (heel) I buy mine at $65+ tax. Looking for #3. Size 11 and 11.5, I like the 11.5 for comfort. Size 11, I love for days for a lighter shoe. (I have slightly wide feet)
I know this videos is a year old but wanted to ask, for daily trainer, 2-3 miles ,3-4 times a week, will try to do 10k once a month. My question is , novablast 2 or novablast 3? Thanks in advance.
@@kofuzi but watching how u run the foam in the rear and even the mid foot doesn’t compress at all so the foam in that doesn’t have any impact on running for. Have u tried doing a comparison with other shoes to see if u run faster at same heart rate or lower heart rate at same speed? I think we’ve been sold this new foam technology but in reality it doesn’t make any difference as it really can only be fit rear foot strikers
The base is also slightly wider on the waist area which should prevent over pronation. I noticed a little bit of pronation when walking around in the N1s but none with the N2s.
I tried to go down half a size and it was too short. I could exchange them for my normale size (the size I use for my Nimbus 22), and now they fit fine
i bought the novablast 2 last week. has been testing for my past runs (short, slow, long, fast). i regretted buying. novablast 1 was so much better and more responsive. novablast 2 is too stiff for me.
I find it odd Asics makes mostly "speed oriented" shoes (e.g. heal to toe rocking geometry, forefoot close to the ground). WIith only the Metaspeed Sky as their true "Marathon oriented" shoe. Wouldnt it make more sense to build training shoes that are more "marathon oriented"? Same dimentions as the Sky+ but lacking the carbon plate?? :) "Train with the shoe youre competing in,,,,used to....". Which is the same thinking of people in the firearms commnity who legally own firearms and use them for sport and home/personal defense. They believe you should "use" guns you train with especially for defensive purposes. Same ammo as well. Makes sense. Why not also for marathoners? :) Dont know when the idea of having a "rotation" of shoes started....did the companies market this idea? Did this start recently? After 2020? 2000? Nike I think only has one "marathon shoe....the Alphafly....the rest are "speed oriented" or "in-between (speed and marathon" (not quite either)...which I'd think would appeal more to non-runners. "Speed- oriented" shoes as well.... my 2 cents.
I haven’t tried the NovaBlast and would love to try v.2. Meanwhile, however, I do have the Rebel 2. Like the NovaBlast it has a very bouncy, soft but responsive midsole. But it’s a much lighter, more nimble shoe and it has a lower stack height. For many people I think it’s a faster shoe but not as much of a long run shoe. I will probably mot be using the Rebel2 for my very long runs but it’s a blast to run in and so comfortable I could use it as a recovery shoe. Martha
Chalk and cheese - I have both. I run my 5km-8km’s in Rv2’s and anything longer (even if quicker) in the novablast. Did one 18km in Rebel v2 and my lower legs felt shredded day after
adding my 2 cents in here. I love the NovaB's V1 for the bounce and the price. You can find 1/2 off or even cheaper at ROSS, if you're lucky. Some people buy 'em all. ($55.99)
I seriously doubt you can tell the weight of a shoe with a .2 ounce difference That is simply stupid. Other than that, I think your review was good. I use this shoe as my daily trainer.
Thanks to reviews like these, this shoe is out of stock in all sizes!!! Companies should stop giving Kofuzi and others samples if they can't meet the supply and demand for a product. You no longer can buy running shoes at a retail price rate, instead, you have to overpay or can't find the shoe. And it's all thanks to RU-vid channels like these and these reviews he just keeps pumping. For him, it's a review for more clicks and views, and for us, it's a dire situation. If I can't wake up at midnight I'm screwed!! as these shoes, were sold in my size by 5 am in the morning when I woke up for work. But do you think Kofuzi or Asics cares? It's a screwed-up situation and Kofuzi ain't helping no one with these reviews, he instead is making those shoes less attainable for the "Non-Elite" runners as he so proudly labels himself. The guy is nothing but Elite at this point, he has first access for FREE to every shoe out there. Kofuzi would you pay $196.95 dollars for those Asics Novablast 2? Cause that's its retailing price at the moment. And you would be lying to yourself if you didn't think your reviews contributed to the situation, I just explained.
This is not Kofuzi’s fault, he cannot possibly know the production schedule at Asics? This brand tend to release more colourways in good time so you will get a pair.
