Just did an entire brake upgrade for my i30N Sedan. Have heard a lot of people saying the stock brakes are fine. Unfortunately they cannot handle advanced track driving. Pad retention springs had snapped and the pad material had seperated from the backing plate due to heat. If tracking an i30N, pads, rotors, lines and fluid need to be changed at a minimum and if you have the means the calipers too. All this damage was done running stock power, especially worrying when the sedans use octane learning as well.
Whahaha 😂😂 You see, mate ... That's why the Ozzies & South Africans have so much in common ... I can't seem to fix / replace anything if there is not a cold beer near !! Cheers from Johannesburg South Africa 🇿🇦
@@MichaelBan-o5j I’m very happy with them. Wear is good. Can make a little bit of noise on the street before temp is up but not bad. The cold performance on street is still good. I would recommend.
I'm thinking of going project mu when i need new pads. I still stock everything atm in my i20N was thinking of doing the stock norwell day, but don't have the money atm. do you do the driver training at Norwell? I love to do a race training season their one day, but I'm used to fwd not rwd and want to get into fwd hot hatch racing.
Just stumbled on this...when ive looked into getting those rotors their website has a "not for racetrack use" disclaimer on them. That put me off getting them for my Megane RS because no other OEM like rotor brand seems to feel the need to state that 😕 Do you find theyre ok for trackdays despite the disclaimer?
Hi Matthew. From my brief talks with project MU I believe the disclaimer is regarding full on race cars. As far as weekend track use these are phenomenal! The rotor with the PMU race pad is a great combo. Can squeal a little when not hot enough on light track use
Be wary of the Project MU pads, have seen them completely fall apart after only a few sessions at SMSP on a few different Ns. I'd keep an eye on them just to make sure they dont do the same thing. These ones could be of higher quality than what I've seen used on other Ns though.
@@GuysGarage Yeah I think it depends on the level of the pad, the PMU ones that have that light blue colour, especially on the Ns, can fail quite quickly with too much heat as they arent rated high enough for proper track usage IMO. Im sure the ones you have will be completely fine though as they seem to be a higher quality type.
