So that is how that artificial engine noise sounds on the Ioniq EV... I was waiting for a spaceship to land hearing it. 😉 Thanks for the insight of the undercarriage and noise, appreciate it. 😊
FYI those license plate covers are technically illegal if you get stopped by the cops for some quota work. The cops explained to me they are illegal and it doesn't matter if Canadian Tire sells them. Just so you know.
Interesting video. There's not a great deal under there! I didn't know that the DRLs turned off when the main lights came on. I guess it's because I'm always in the driving seat!
You should get an increase in mileage due to 3 factors As you say summer tyres ( not such a blocky tread pattern ) the wheel rims ( original ) more aerodynamic than what you had on and the all important factor the warmer weather helps with the battery efficiency
Great concise video. Just a question on pressure. So i have mine 2 months now. Was 40 psi on the sensors when i picked it up. Left it that cos i figured the dealer/factory must know? I know with ICE cars down the years i would have went to max 34psi. I liked the balance between grip and wear there... Cos these are 'green' tyres and us ev drivers are always thinking efficiency, i said I'd leave it alone. Opinions? I'll admit i didn't read the manual on this...?
i had mine for about a year now and no issues yet. im glad i didn't buy a tesla cause my friends tesla is always at the dealer weeks at a time since day 1, he will sell it ASAP LOL. more is not better !
Thanks Eric. I have a Phev Ioniq on order for may. I was wondering what size tires you got for the winter rims. I have heard some say that having a 15-inch wheel would give you more sidewall more air volume adding up to a better ride quality on notoriously bad northern Ontario roads. I would value your opinion. Dean
The winter tires on my car are 205/55R/16. The roads in my area are pretty good. The ride quality is about the same as the summer tires, but they do make more road noise.
I noticed you, like most people, use steel rims for the winter season. I assume mileage should improve quite a bit with lighter rims and the standard tires. Would be interesting seeing a comparison of those values.
Hi Eric, nice video again. Thank you for that! Interesting to see that you were using winter tires on steel rims! In Germany you can't use steel rims on the Ioniq Electric. What size are your winter tires?
Thanks for the comment. The winter tires are 205/55R/16. The rims and tires were purchased from the dealer. Why are you not allowed to use steel rims in Germany on the Ioniq Electric?
I wonder if it has something to do with the built-in tire pressure sensors. I rented an Ioniq for the weekend, and the manual says that you should only use rims from the dealer because they support the tire pressure sensors.
