Btw interesting thought: Maybe they've put the 3rd row entry just to the co-driver side to force children just enter and the pavement side of the road (safety).
@Sindarul
@Sindarul 7 лет назад
Agree. That might be and sure is a reason. I have a Renault which won't let a person open the left rear door form inside if the driver's door isn't open. Another reason might be the weight of that single seat to move. Maybe the 2/3 part could be harder to move for let's say a child. Also, I share your opinion regarding the 3rd row seats. They are kinda useless. If the child is so small he needs a child seat he will surely take place next to her mother in the 2nd row. If he doesn't, then the usage of those seats on the long term is limited to a few years. Anyway, you did a very good job, as usual. Greetings from Romania!
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 7 лет назад
Thanks! Someone now said that you could also install child seats without isofix, that's basically correct, but what's your take on this?
@Sindarul
@Sindarul 7 лет назад
Well...isofix or not, I don't think a child seat in the 3rd row - and with not so easy access - is practical. I highly doubt a family with more than 5 members would choose an SUV of this size instead of a MPV and would they let their youngest child on the 3rd seat. Maybe in a trip with 4 adults and 2-3 kids there could be a possibility but then again where do you put your luggage? Maybe someone did this and would be happy to share their experience.

Make sense since most 7 seater are bought because of children

+Sindarul well my friend has 4 children. Age 10, 9 2 and 2 months. He's looking at a u seater where the 2 older children can sit at the back. His wife and 2 babies will be in the middle. Front passenger seat will be empty. I assume the santa fe could do that, however I'm r mins into the video so haven't seen the seats yet.

You guys make good videos, but, you need to put camera somewhere in between the front sets, so that is possible to see whole cockpit, because when it is like this on your left side you can't see nothing.

My mate's flatmate here in Australia just bought one of those cheap Accents n it came with a 10 year warranty - that's bloody nuts man, didn't even know that was possible. Apparently it's a standard 5 but if you service it at the Dealership you bought, they can give you 10. Dunno if that's a standard thing but he didn't pay anything extra.

How is Cockpit Material Do Cockpit material scratched immediatly or is good quality that can go for years?
@uznabi
@uznabi 7 лет назад
Thanks for the review, pretty much matches with my 1 year experience with this model (5-seat, black-black color combination). My wife loves the car and I quite like it too. What I don't like: the seats (bad for long drive), the handsfree speaker quality (absolute disaster), the outdated navigation (even though it's pretty good if you don't require the currently usual finger zooming feature), the stupid way of connecting the car to the internet (via wifi AP on a mobile phone), small diesel tank. Things I love - the doors (they are short and so you can open them at quite wide angle even with a car parked next to you), the turning radius, the view, the large mirrors, the cameras, the space, full spare wheel, the design, the integrated rear window shades.

I have the previous (2011) model which, whilst it doesn't have the modern gadgets, is much more useful in terms of storage space & being able to into the rear seats as the middle row seat flips up & over. I tried the new one & almost got stuck in the back it's so awkward. Also rear visibility is much worse on the new one. Very unlikely that I will switch to the new one
@bdoleza

Seems like a pretty generic choice overall, kinda like the Kia Sorrento in that regard. The use of animal skin seats in the top end trims will likely not deter buyers in any market, so I see little purpose in recommending against the high-end trims on that basis. And at lease the rich brown in the leather seats breaks up the oppressive black interior a bit. I imagine in an overall sense, the Nissan Rogue would be the better choice if it's a 3-row SUV that you're after. The ride in this Hyundai did seem choppy and unrefined from what I saw in the review. It would be smoother with an automatic transmission for sure; I see few buyers getting the stick. Good review, and it looked pretty cold out there, so props to you for your resilience!

Having driven a brand new 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Limited in Canada for 6000km the past few months, I have been getting mixed results with the fuel economy. During mostly highway driving, I have averaged around 10~11 L/100km, which is over the government rated fuel economy of 9.6L/100km, and during mostly city driving the fuel economy usually averages around 14L/100km, which is worse than government ratings of 12.5L/100km. I have found it difficult to maintain the combined government fuel economy rating of 11.2L/100km, which has been very disappointing. My averages have been during Canadian winter conditions (though it has been a very mild one) and I feel the all wheel drive system kicking in especially during snowy conditions. I drive softly and smoothly so my logical reasoning is that although Hyundai/Kia have improved dramatically over the years in various aspects, there's still a long ways to go in terms of engine refinement and fuel consumption. Although not a true comparison, my friend recently purchased a 2017 Audi A4 Tecknik with S-line Sport Package (Canadian), which is equivalent to the top-of-the-line trim, and I realized why people go for the German luxury cars for such a large premium in price. I love Hyundai/Kia but I was amazed by the craftsmanship of the exterior, interior, and refinement of the engine/transmission in the A4. To be fair, the Santa Fe Sport is very spacious, well-built, and comfortable and I love it as a family car. I feel it has a strong value propositon, which is why in the mid-size SUV segment in Canada, the Santa Fe Sport is the best-selling vehicle. I am just a little bit saddened every time I fill up the gas, hoping the fuel consumption might improve as summer begins.

cheetahsong Two major differrences in Europe. First you can only get a diesel, so mpg is better, second, here ir costs over 50k euros, which is Bmw 3 or Audi a4 price... Becouse of the price you dont see much of them on the road... and with the new Škoda Kodiak, which is cheaper this car just isnt competitive on our market

I am not sure what to say about this review Thomas. For the first time I felt it's a biased review. Sorry. U complained about outdated gps. What about in seat. You said it's decent and functional. I can't agree more with the steering. You can always engage sport ode. It's not best but it's ok. Regarding the engine they were able to juice 434 nm torque from 2.2 liter. Toureg need a v6. It's quite a torquy motor. I heard many complaints from colleagues who drive sharan with 184ps with full occupancy. It literally screams. A final comparison with Tiguan is tad lousy. Compare the dimensions please. Engine noise!!! With relatively high torque motor, you will need to rev through all gears and no body expects. Fuel consumption of kodiaq is not that good either. RU-vid Videos suggest otherwise.I respect your opinion but please take mine with a pinch of salt.
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 7 лет назад
What is my motivation to be biased in any way? Listen to what I said, I said Tiguan Allspace and Skoda Kodiaq. All three cars (Santa Fe) are exactly 4,70 m

Autogefühl sorry never heard tiguan allspace. About other points? Middle seat comfort. No transmission tunnel. People liking BMW does not mean they hate Audi. But people tend to find mistakes in Audi. What a pity that no body talk about BMW offset leg pedals. I like BMW. I live with the offset. But just can't stand if some other manufacturers does it. I hope this answers the question.

9.4l for a rather weak Diesel? That's really bad...
@ast5515
@ast5515 7 лет назад
Hyundai uses some really old engines. Diesels 10 years ago couldn't do any better. Because this engine is 10 years old. Instead of designing a new engine, they tweaked the old one to comply with emission standards. It worked for a while, and then this happened.

Why is it that animal skin interiors are so bad? Please forgive my ignorance but is leather not one of the most sustainable materials for car interiors?
@autogefuehl
@autogefuehl 7 лет назад
Thank you for taking interest in this very important topic! First to the practical reasons: 1. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat 2. they are cold in winter 3. on cloth or microfibre, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling 4. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like granny’s old sofa 5. if you want leather look, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review) So Tesla shows that the discussion wether you need animal skin is basically done. Still, now to the environmental reasons: 1. There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body. 2. The way the cows are held are catastrophic (see videos below) 3. Even if a cow gets killed for meat first, you give additional money to an industry that relies on murder, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals. 4. Does it really matter for which cause a mammal, that is 99 % genetically identical with us, gets killed? Would you say a cow only got slaughtered for the meat in the leg and thus it got slaughtered for the meat in the neck anyway? That doesn’t make sense. 5. So to the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/ 6. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". An the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy. Special videos: 1. A special video from Autogefühl considering the use of leather can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8f91KgbVbJQ.html 2. And another one right here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tMNgcLE0LDU.html 3. Furthermore, you’ll find footage of leather production here, where people are walking in chemicals etc. and animals have to watch their friends being slaughtered in front of their eyes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JipYvuDsI6s.html timecode starting 27:46 4. This is another video which very well summarizes the torture of leather production, shots taken at big farms which directly produce for the automotive industry: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OgHs239bAnE.html Help to raise awareness on this subject. It is because of old design and platform. There is the reason why Tuscan looks improved, ride quality, driving characteristics, and engine. Like i said, wait for refresh Santa Fe Sport. Hyundai has been doing great jobs lately especially with Tuscon, Elantra Eco, Elantra Sport, and now i30 hatch along with the wagon based on i30 platform.
