Driving my Terracan since 2009 in South Africa. At Odo 220000 had to clean the injectors and refurbish diesel pump. Been through the Kalahari, most of Namibia, many times to the Kruger National Park and often into the Cederberg. Recently experienced problems with transfer case motor which was an easy fix, just some hardened grease that needed to be removed and replaced. Engine is so reliable. Love the Terracan and will keep it to the day I die, mind you, resale value is almost nil.

My engine gets every 5000k new oil, new oil and diesel filter, it's not expensive when using GUD and worthwhile in a long run. Also never race the diesel engine, always gentle on the throttle
Hey the terracan is a great 4x4 I've done some of the very hard off road trails in my terracan and it's perfectly capable I've done a snorkel and very rugged terrain tyres and at 280000 I did the injectors now I'm looking for new shocks other than that it's an amazing cheap 4x4 and for South Africa it's good to have 4x4 beautiful places to got to
I agree, Kris. Picking up now the niggly wear & tear things. Just had to re-seal my automatic gear box and replaced the mass-air sensor. I still got a small oil leak that I cannot identify the origin of, but will investigate more thoroughly. Where are you based?
On the Terracan, when you have wheels in the air and no traction, pull the handbrake up hard. This will lock the rear wheel in the air and send power to the one on the ground.
