Not a truck but I had an 02 Toyota Camry LE standard i bought for $1,200 & imo it is the Greatest year for camries. The interior was extremely roomy & the trunks are giant. It had 240k i sold it with 280k for $1,200. Same price i bought it for after 2 years of me driving it. I didn't want to sell it she ran like a brand new car. I never had to fix anything, ever! But i didn't pass for my license in time & i needed a place to live so i dold it for down deposit money. She sold in the first month if sitting on the side of the road. The very first person to stop & test drive bought it Edit: this was 2018 when i bought it

I bought a new 2017 Tundra SR double-cab with the 4.6L. Six seasons and 50k miles later I’m still in love. I’ve always said it’s the “last real truck.” No gimmicks, steelies, AC, 4x4, Bluetooth and dual bench seats. It’s all anyone needs. We only use it to tow our 6000LB Parker pilothouse boat, road trips (smooth as a Lincoln), and to tow an enclosed trailer. I should have it for another 10yrs easy. Way to go, Toyota cheerleader Scotty!

2 reasons why I bought my 21' 1794 back in Dec of 20'.... 1-my retirement gift to myself. 2-found out that they're not making the V8 anymore, jumped on that. These new tundras are nice... On the inside.... Under the hood, different story. They definitely won't outlast the older models.

If you use it primarily for towing put a transmission cooler on it. They took the transmission cooler off back in 2018. You can buy kits that have a transmission cooler and thermostat they’re not hard to install. I installed one in my 2021 tundra they’re not hard to put in at all. Well worth it I saw transmission temperatures dropped dramatically and that is the life of your transmission were talking about. I also have a 2017 tundra and that truck came with the transmission cooler already installed. So I could compare the temperatures of the transmission and see the differences that’s what made me install the cooler.

I fully agree with you. I have owned Ford's, Chevy's, Nissan and Dodge and out of these I liked the Nissan Titan the best, I owned 2. I purchased a 2016 Ford F150 with the Ecoboost and really had no issues, but the paint quality and fit and finish of the truck was just not up to par. I did like the motor though. I put a lot of miles on my vehicles in a short amount of time. The best MPG I got out of my F150 was 22 mpg and that was rare. If your running 75-80 on the interstate (like I do), it dropped to 17. I had never owned a Toyota, but know a lot of people with Tundra's and they swear by them. I decided to ditch the F150 and purchased a 2020 Tundra Platinum 4X4 Crew Cab. It was somewhat hard to find. IMHO, it was the best deal out there vs the F150 Platinum and Chevy/GMC. I absolutely love everything about the truck and don't think it is outdated at all. I did not want to wait on the New V6 turbo model, I wanted the tried and true V8. It lacks no power and believe it or not, on the road running 75-80 I am getting 19 mpg. The more "crap" they put on these newer trucks, the more problems. Enjoy the new truck!

Well Scotty my 2017 Ram, 4x4, 1500, 5.7 Hemi (395 horsepower and 410 ft/ lbs of torque gives me 27.0 to 27.4 mpg at 55 mph and 19/20 city. But I do have the highway axle which is 3.21 ratio and 20 inch wheels. Wouldn't trade it for any other truck.

Ok, call us on 2030 and let us know how the truck is doing. Good luck.

Hey Scotty, I appreciate that you explain why you dislike turbo charged engines. Why do you believe that turbo engines really won't last and just blow up? I know this was an issue with older turbo motors in the 90's but with most turbos running roller bearings instead of journals and much better heat and pressure management and lubrication its hard to believe that a modern f150 ecoboost will be a junkyard king in a few years. What are your thoughts? Additionally, any engine driven hard and abused will fail earlier and get worse fuel economy, that's the nature of stress and wear.

Those f150s are already junkyard material. I know more than one that have failed miserably before 80k...

I bought my 2015 TRD off road Doublecab a year ago - The original owner had Katzkin black leather heated/vented seats and an A.R.E color matched Z series camper shell fully carpeted. I installed a full Bed Rug bed carpet kit, Ironman4X4 Foam Cell Pro 3.5" suspension lift/Method wheels/275/70/18 BFG KO2 tires/Dynamic Diode SAE rated yellow fogs/Rago Fabrication dash mounted accessory mount - I know it will never be a real TRD Pro, but I saved about 25K and rigged this one up just the way I wanted. Oh yea, I also installed the TRD Pro heritage grill/2021 TRD Pro LED headlights/TRD Pro cat back dual exhaust - It looks just like a 2021 for ALOT less :D

I just bought my ‘16 TRD Pro 4x4 with 17k miles on it. It took a long time to find it. I paid for it used what it’s sold for new in 2016. I’m stoked!

I always like how they justify it to the wife by saying they can fit the kids in the back like it's a practical purchase... The dude just wants a performance truck/toy. Nothing wrong with that but its the truth. I am sure that I could "fit" my kids in the back of a GT-350R with some creative maneuvering.

I can imagine spending 3 times the value of the Tundra in gas over it’s lifetime. Not cheap transportation.
