Yeah, I hate car payments more than anything but when Dave was trying to figure out where a 10K monthly budget is going and he asks: do you have a big car payment somewhere...I was thinking aint no way $1000 car payment could even keep him from paying rent.

Sometimes they use the numbers of kids who died young or another dead person. Someone stole my cousin’s husband’s identity after he died. That’s why when a loved one dies you should report it to the credit bureaus.

More than that: using someone else’s information to gain a benefit is fraud, which is a crime.

I served 20 years in the US Navy, and I've met plenty of individuals throughout my career span who are some of the worst and most vile human beings I have ever met in my life.

If they have any, it must all be spent immediately on just useless stuff. They are addicted to the small hit of dopamine they get from opening a package or acquiring something. I know one person who does not even open the packages he gets when he 'wins' online auctions.

Totally agree. When I was younger I trashed my credit but rent was always paid on time and my highest priority.

Pay rent and electricity (and water if you pay separately). If your landlord finds out your electricity is cut off they might evict you because some city ordinances don’t consider a home habitable without electricity and water. I have seen complexes condemned because the owner was supposed to pay the water bill from rent collections and didn’t so it was shut off. All the residents had to move out within a few days.

@anndeecosita3586 obviously the idea is to not continue to live without utilities. What I meant was, if it came down to it, I'm paying my rent first. Landlord isn't gonna notice a couple days without power.

It’s not victimless. My husbands dad used his number for a car loan because his credit was toast. We didn’t find out until we went to buy a house and he had bad marks on his credit. His dad was dead by then so not a darn thing we could do.

That's just not how it works. Almost everywhere you rent requires a background check and they credit score check. They run your information to see if you've been evicted before. You also have to pay for application fees and fees to run the background check before you even get approved. That's pretty standard now. ​@Forced_Drama

@@Anonyme67my uncle has great tenants BUT he only rents they word of mouth. He will not advertise. He will let something be empty until he finds the right person. He wants young families saving for a house or retired people (he prices below market). It takes work to be a landlord.

Depends on the property/area , and especially proper background checking.

This isn't most people. I've been a landlord for over 10 years and own 3 properties. The latest the rent has ever been was a week.

I did property management for a while. I found out during the process of filing one eviction that the lady had used her daughter's SSN. Turns out this is very common. A lot of families have the same names passed down through the generations, so it can be hard to initially catch. The eviction SSN checker database flagged it saying the birthdate didn't match. I ran it like 3 times thinking I somehow made the mistake. I finally started digging back through her tenant file and realized what she had done. Daughter has same name as her. Be very mindful of this when verifying your prospective tenants.

You can make that much too. Whatever job you have right now just keep thinking of the next job up or change careers if it makes sense to.
