2:17 You make such an excellent point here about how "the corporations" have caused this problem, and we don't have public transportation, bulk shopping, and reused containers (returning your milk jug to the store to be reused not recycled). A movie that illustrates this history of them literally dismantling Los Angeles public transportation to replace it with freeways is "Roger Rabbit". It is such a good film with so much history in it about corporate creed and the cost to the earth.

I look for sales during this time of year because eco swaps aren't cheap. If I'm already going to buy the item I would rather shop with a more responsible company and save some money too. I also try to stock up on items so I only have to place one big order instead of a bunch of smaller orders during the year. *And I'm always here for the 🍵

Earth day celebration in my area is actually very commercial; endless booths with clothing, jewelry, food trucks, etc. Very little in terms of preserving our planet. And traffic is backed up for blocks with gas guzzling cars.😮

Earth Day sales are a joke. Like you, I get annoyed with those who celebrate one stinking day but yet I doubt they will do anything for that one day which would be better than nothing. Don't get me started lol. Thanks for another great video 😘❤️

I don’t think that earth day/month should be a thing, but it does provide a good marker for me to start using my solar cooker for the year. My biggest problem with earth day is that it should be celebrated 365 days a year, not just for a day/month.

One of the celebrities you should look into is Ed Begley Jr. I mean in a positive way. He gave up his car years ago. He lives in an uncelebrity bungalow/ranch style home, on a regular house block. There is much more to him and his green lifestyle than I have mentioned.

I agree with all your criticisms of Earth Day/Month. It is utterly frustrating how even the best ideas can be co-opted for profit and consumerism. I like to think of Earth Day as my alternative to those holidays which celebrate particular nations, such as Independence Day in your country and St George's day over this side of the Atlantic. Because ultimately I feel unless people start to see themselves as from Earth first and foremost (Earthlings, Terrans, Tellurians or whatever other name there is for the denizens of the earth) alongside all the other millions of amazing species we share the planet with, nothing will fundamentally change. I like to look at the Pale Blue Dot picture - the picture of the earth taken from the farthest distance so far - and see our planet as a tiny dot of light surrounded by the incomprehensible vastness of space, to remind myself that everyone on this planet, not just other humans, share a precious home together and we need to care for our common home.
