I was thinking the same. You're lucky a cop wasn't driving by who could of gave you a ticket. I saw a young guy get his dad's SUV stuck in the mud under some power lines and a cop gave him a ticket for trespassing on top of being stuck in the mud.

Step 1. Engage mud and ruts mode, Step 2 engage rear locker, step 3 exit mud. Worst case, enable trail control and let it figure out the traction for you.

When I first started off roading, I'd go with a friend who also had a 4x4, then you can pull each other out. That's how I got experience off roading. We've all been there, we just don't tell those stories so much lol. I don't think I would have called a tow though, I would have found a way out for my pride's sake lol.

Best thing about four wheel drive is you can just go further to get stuck. Don't ask how I know! One thing I have learned is never go back for one more run through. The previous one you just made through might have been your last. Keep trying and you'll get the hang of this 4x4 stuff. Anyone tells you they never been stuck has never been off pavement.

I think you should go back and make sure you lock up the rear differential and put it in 4 Low so do that and get back with us over and out

Congratulations you also destroyed someone else's property. Now everyone else will have to look at the damage you've done until someone else pays to fix it. First rule of 'offroading' is know where you're allowed to drive, and never leave a marked or existing trail unless you're 100% sure it's ok to do so. Now you're giving the rest of us a bad name and encouraging others to do this as well.

Four low, traction control off, and locking the rear should have gotten you unstuck. the unwritten rule is turn on all your off-road goodies before you need them. once you do need them it's usually too late.

You have to learn sometime you got a good piece of equipment there to begin with. Rule number one tires tires tires! Get yourself a good set of Toyo, Nittos or Goodyear Dura track off road tires you won’t have that kind of a problem like that anymore. Enjoy that ride!

I totally been in your position. I took a 4 cylinder Ranger, back in the day, through some mud and got my self stuck. It was hilarious. I was however with my buddy who had a jeep wrangler and he pulled me out.

I like that you took full ownership of the whole mishap. Slippery mud like that can be tough for tires that are really designed for the street. Also unless you are seriously rock crawling momentum is your friend. Your equipment is good as you indicated, it really was a case of the idiot behind the wheel. Don't worry we have all been the idiot behind the wheel at one time or another.

What you needed to do is change from 4h to 4l, lock the diff (if possible), and go easy on the gas pedal. But like the tow truck guy said, just wait till the “break-in” period is over before you try anything crazy. You’ll learn, but most importantly, you’ll have fun!

When your stuck in snow, mud turn off traction control. It sucks in certain situations. You need a decent amount of wheel spin to become free. Like many have stated, 4 low real diff locked. Turn tires a bit left and right. Tires would have helped also, the factory tires are not the best for this terrain. You will get the hang of it. Then sometimes you will still get stuck,lol. Just have fun and get some better tires to.

Way I see it, your learning, as great as even Jeeps are off road, I’m pretty sure every Jeeper has been stuck. Just like everything in life. I’d also say the stock tires aren’t mudd’n tires, still a very sharp truck! Also your a 100% better off roader now, you know what you and the rig are capable of!

It happens, the tires didn't help. Next time, 4-low in very soft mud. Rock the steering wheel back and forth while moving and this helps propel forward. If that doesnt help, you can always reduce tire pressure some and this will allow better coverage.

From my expert armchair perspective, it looks like you went into the turn too sharp and slow. Turning sharp in mud just digs the tire in deeper. You acted like you were rock crawling, instead of being aggressive and giving it the beans. Nice film work and nice truck tho. I'm impatiently waiting for the 2020 bronco.

The tires that comes with the truck are really not for going off roads, you going have to buy some mud and snow tires. I’m not going to cut you down I might get stuck some day to, have fun with your new truck looks awesome.

Haha I literally had the same problem! Had the new Ford Ranger for 1 week and got stuck in the mud in the forest. I had to get my Traktor and a chainsaw. It was a mess to get it out! LOL

those tires are not any good for the mud situation you got into and like others said if you had the rear locking diff you should have engaged it and kept the front tires as straight as possible without turning lock to lock. Kudos to ya for taking all the blame though.

First of all you dont hit mud holes at a crawl, that's just asking to get stuck. Also if you do get stuck you need to turn the wheel back and forth to gain any amount of traction

@@endocry RU-vid is your friend here...hell I knew off roading basics before I was on my first trail. He went into this muddy area with 0 momentum while turning his wheel very sharply. This caused the front tires to stop all forward momentum almost like an e brake. Then from there his tires where like slicks and he had no chance. Just throw a pair of all/mud terain tires on there, disengage stability control and plow through there with ur foot down.

You were barely stuck, but in the future, roll urself back and forth and you should be able to get out. Also, if you deflate the drive tires about 5psi, that will help. I hope this helps for the future. 4x4'ring in sand dunes teaches you to off-road real quick. Looking forward to your next video.

Listen to Jim Jim below and at some points you were actually plowing with the tires not using them for traction. Know where your wheels are pointing, and you were babying the truck, I really don't think it was actually stuck. You need to be a little more aggressive when off roading. Always have a shovel a vehicle can get hung up :"tires not in enough contact with surface to provide traction"., carry a chain too and if you are going out by yourself and far from help, a winch can save you.

Trucks themselves are very capable. The failure here is a combination of lack of experience and street tires.

I guess they are ok for driving across the field or something similar but for trails, especially in deep woods, they are too big, too heavy with too little weight on rear wheels. If you are familiar with Suzuki Samurai, that tiny little vehicle can beat majority of trucks in off road capability. Russian Lada Niva is also almost unstoppable in woods or similar environment. Wranglers and Land Rovers rule everything in between.
