About 30 miles outside of Haines, Alaska, Steve Kroschel spends his days taking care of his wolverines, a wolf, a brown bear, moose, and other creatures. With help from his son and friends, Steve has built his sanctuary as a place where others can learn how to live simply and naturally.

@@damnmuggle It's the 21-st century!!!! Women are not owned by their fathers and then handed to their husbands anymore. There are a bunch of countries in the world where women prefer to keep their maiden lastnames. And At the end of the day, it's none of your business why Laura Koniver decided to keep her last name. It doesn't mean she loves her husband less.

What a wonderful man and what he says is so true, each of us would be so much happier living that way and being close to nature. I don't believe that you could get depression when you are living so close to nature.

This was a great video, thanks so much for sharing! This made me wanna move to Alaska and work at the wildlife refuge, seem like such nice people! Call him a flake or whatever but his reasons are inspiring I think, more americans need to think like him :D

Well, it looks like he takes paying visitors to his petting zoo. I IMDB.com'd him. It seems he's a competent filmmaker. He lives to write and direct his own documentaries but he occasionally does cinematographer/cameraman work on other productions for cash money.

I'd love to live like that but just to buy an acre of f woods anywhere is to much to afford, andif u did how are u going to get food without illegally poaching and trapping, a good solar system will set u back a few grand, and when the batteries break where ya gonna get cash to buy new lithium batteries? From trapping fur? Selling veggies?

Look, I'm happy that 1% of people are like this. By "this" I mean eccentric, tree-hugging, anti-progress, back-to-nature, simplistic, and naive. The world actually needs a tiny handful of people who live in the woods and protect some of these creatures for the rest of us. But, to expect the 90% of humans, who live in big cities, to ever come down to earth and really deeply care about a moose or a wolverine, is to expect wayyyy too much of humans. The average person today has a thousand little tasks to do each day, between their work and home life, and none of those tasks have to do with nature.
