Our transfer stations will gently use an excavator to get frozen dumpsters empty

As an inventor, if I was making dumpsters for the cold up north, I would install a plate that is the width of the dumpster by about 4 " deep attached to a winch and cable. The cable would loop front to back with that plate attached and maybe two cables. Turn the winch on and basically it acts like a knife around the edge of a cake pan. It slides forward and slices free all the garbage from the dumpster.

My personal favorite is a tarped can with 6 in of heavy wet snow that's frozen on the bottom to the tarp spending an hour by yourself taking a shovel and trying to knock off enough to get the tarp roll back up is pure joy

Love the dumpster videos! I have been binging them all for the last couple of weeks! One thing I have had a hard time with is sorting out an rough estimate of how much the average 10 yard dumpster full of household trash ends up with in weight. Doing a business plan to fill a niche of smaller dumpsters in my area and am trying to figure out a fair flat rate. Keep up the videos! I have learned a ton!
@Lifes_Apprentice
@Lifes_Apprentice Год назад
I appreciate you watching and I am happy you found value in the videos. It is hard to come up with an exact number but I can tell you our average dump fee per dumpster is $80. That is the average of all sizes. for a 10 yard with houshold I would say about $30-$50 dollars... Our dump fees are $60/ton Hope that helps!

You try spraying ice-b- gone liquid instead of rock salt. I sell to cow farmers so manure doesn’t freeze in there dump trucks.

I keep my dumpsters down here in the South to keep them from freezing. :P JK I was raised up North. I don't know how you guys do it up there. I am too spoiled with mild winters now.

Why don't you supply some tarps to put over the dumpsters ? If a customer doesn't use it, you could add a service charge on it . By the way, kitty litter is really good traction for icy conditions .

Maybe the customers of the transfer station could A) Ask the operator to get an attachment for their loader to scrape the bottom the dumpsters or B) Hire a local backhoe to sit and dig boxes out in the winter. Puzzling that the haulers and the T Station haven't solved this issue given the climate and regularity of frozen boxes.
@Lifes_Apprentice
@Lifes_Apprentice Год назад
The transfer station has an attachment but only use it for county dumpsters. It is a liability I think for other cans. One of our transfer stations helps us
@bluelinebins

We are able to do that in Indiana, need to sign a waiver and its $35 per bin to dig out. It defiantly adds up quick.

i’m in texas! Started in april of this year and was booked out every week with 2 dumpsters all the way until the end of november! December i’ve rented maybe 4 out this whole month… does it usually slow down this much during december? it hasn’t even been super cold yet. figured it was just because of the holidays and people spending money for gifts/vacation

saturation of the market. You and a thousand other dudes bought a trailer. Consider pressure washing. I would advise to sell your trailers before the value of them crashes to what is reasonable. Facebook marketplace is flooded with roll off rigs and dump trailers being sold. Just my 2 cents.

@@Lifes_Apprentice I agree, and after it's in the dumpster, most of it gets ruined anyway. My town takes any electronics, TV's, Monitors, Computers, Printers, Scanners, etc, anything electronic. Our recycling place will pay for any electronics, but doesn't take TV's or Monitors. The town also takes Tires, and Appliances at the Public Works Facility. The stuff that goes in the Crushers at the Home Centers will make you sick, they crush things just because it's dented or scratched. My Pella patio door was on it's way to the Crusher after I swapped it out for a Home Center Install customer because they and the original installer thought it was leaking cause it fogged up, I talked to the Pella Rep, and I offered to buy it off them, he didn't charge me, and said he'd put it down that I field destroyed it, I eventually installed it in my house, and it was fogging up between the glass because the access panel on the inside wasn't latched all the way, the original installer even caulked the glass on the outside all the way around the perimeter, thinking it was leaking there, but it's been in for almost 4 years now with no problems.
