We have been together pretty much 24/7 for the past 27 years and my wife would struggle to sleep without me next to her. She passes out immediately when her head lands on my shoulder. I have agreed on an acceptable bedtime but in the morning she gets up well before I do. Obviously the separate rooms works for you but I am guessing you are in the minority with that sleeping arrangement. No doubt some will tell you that you are doing it wrong but just keep doing what works for you.
At the end of 2022 my wife and I stayed in our house in Thailand for about 40 days. During that time my wife oversaw some renovations on the property. She hired a local contractor, her sister knew the guy so she was pretty sure we wouldn't get ripped off. They did a great job with renovations and took care of a few other odds and ends that popped up along the way. They worked quickly and prices were reasonable. The main problem was the stress my wife had because she had to oversee the project with the builders but she threw herself right in and did a great job. I enjoyed taking pictures and keeping my mouth shut.
Best part was when little puppy runs out and flops and rolls. That was so cute. Total believer in sleeping apart , show me any mammal in nature that sleeps together and defo not after having kids. I think it shows respect and consideration.

My thai wife sleeps with our 3 year old son in the master bedroom. I sleep in another bedroom which doubles as a playroom. I often have anxiety at night (pretty sure its PTSD from childhood when my dad made me sleep alone after watching horror movies with him like Poltergeist), and often wake up at 2:30 or 3:30 am. No problem at all because I turn on some mood lights, turn on the TV, fire up some top shelf cannabis in my Volcano vape, and ease into a cozy morning before I fall asleep again into sweet dreams. No way my wife would tolerate that in her bedroom!
I loved that open kitchen. It looks like a room. Your cottage is my favorite build on your farm, the way it looks out over the lawn and the other places. When I lived in LA I just didn’t go anywhere in the summer. Coming from Holland. At 40, I was not used to this climate. Grateful to live in Monterey now ! Demo is so funny ! So is Hugo.. good luck with all of it Ryan !❤
My Thai wife and I also don't sleep together. We used to before we had Anna. She is now nearly 7. It just seems normal here. We love each other but she loves her family nest. I think building a man cave is really important. I will copy your idea when we move on to our land. When you are together all the time. Personal space is sacred space. Good luck with the build.
Yup, buying materials yourself is the way to go. My mother in law managed our entire house build since we are stuck here in the US for the forseeable future.
Good to see the building expansion/new room project starting. M150, or M roi ha sip is a great energy drink with caffeine, taurine, and B vitamins! All for 10 baht as I recall. Sleeping with a partner was difficult as we both snored, so was a race to see who fell asleep first! 555 Also preferred temperature for sleep can be different, and as Damo said, work schedules can be different and children of course should sleep with parents when young. All good guys, good to see you, but missing the Hugo and Otis antics in this vlog. Stay Happy and Healthy. Peace and Love Y'all
Here is how to sleep together when you have kids: 1. King Bed: Baby sleeps on mothers side with a long pillow between if mother moves around a lot. 2. Mother breastfeeds as soon as baby wants it = no crying. 3. Parents can do their thing when baby is sleeping 4. Kids grow up they can have a separate bed 1 meter away with cloth partition so parents can do their thing when kids asleep. Kids can join parents in bed later that night after parents already done their exercise. * The advantages here are using only 1 air con per room and no baby crying. Its not perfect but worked for us. When kid is 8 to 10 they can get their own room
we get the kids to sleep then have 3-4 hours together in my cinema room with our cctv on the kids and then my wife goes to bed. I generally stay up later for the stock market 👍
Not only in Thailand, but in other Asian countries, it's not unusual that the babies sleep with their mum, or with the parents together, with the cot or bed in the same room temporarily till they grow bigger. Even more so if she's breast-feeding. It's not like in the west where days old babies are already sent to sleep alone. Asian women mostly have no heart to leave their babies alone and feel it's safer to be near their babies.
The absolute way to go as you've described when building in Thailand. When you get the quantities, eg. Sand, cement steel etc it pays to get 3 separate quotes from suppliers for each material. Not much else you can do then to squeeze the costs any lower >>>
How exciting Ryan.. I love it when you guys begin new projects.. inspiring.. my hubby and I have two separate spaces if need be.. he has a raft of health issues and some nights are very bad for him so it's easier to sleep apart.. it works well for us.. 21 years and counting.. much love to you both and the kids.. love ya all.. 🥰💜🦋🥀☮️
Yep we're together pretty much 24/7 and have been the whole 21 years.... with no murders committed.. haha.. ya gotta do what works for you both.. only way🥰👌🏼
Burmese Rosewood should grow there . To my knowledge its the most expensive wood in the world, price of gold . Also mahagany will grow there. Something to keep in mind if your thinking of shade trees, property line trees. Seeds are available.
@@Nautilus1972 I’m almost 51 years old, and I STILL wake up with the flag standing at full attention and wear my girl out every morning except when her friend maria comes to visit once a month 😉
For your info about it, make sense. As I've been looking for an opportunity to grow and develop my skills, and I don't feel like I'm able to do that in my current role no matter where am I personally or not.
I'm 65 you American and I just let my intuition lead me w child rearing and my son slept w me throughout his childhood. And I as a child, started out in my room, but always ended up in my parents' bed and later my sister's. I think children naturally feel safer that way.
It looks beautiful and peaceful home. I love the vine plant that grow in front of the house. You have a few house. Wonder, if you guy live close to relatives or separate property. Thanks.
Great chat, crazy someone tries to give helmets out what a hero I think myself if they didn't want them they wouldn't wear them. Always haters out there. Just carry on doing you I say. Have a awesome one 😊
Female farang again 😀I was told when I 1st came to live in Thailand that the country has a way of getting under your skin. From your videos, it's evident Thailand's not only under your skin, it's got right into your soul 🤩
Ryan you must research for new material.to built your new house for the tropical area.like built from Clay bricks or maybe cements.Loft style.and eesign maybe get the advice with Architecture.4 me I love Cement or clay house to anti-hot global.
Did I just see a French bulldog? Those are very expensive dog's in America. 7 or 8 grand. I'm so excited for your new build. What happened with the old cottage you bought down the street?
As said in previous videos! you have a wonderful life & your family is perfect & I wish I had 10% of your life but Sir please sort out ya playlist bro, it's all over the place..blessing to you & family
Looking forward to watching your build, great channel guys! Is there such a thing as planning permission for work on your land or just go with the flow? I run a building firm in UK so all very interesting to me .
May God continue to bless you and your family. It is incredible to see how you have found your joy in life. It is wonderful to see people live and not simply survive in life.
I used to have a Captain in inland waterways He told me the secret in their relationship maybe Distance Because The Gentleman sailed away occasionally, Similarly in Dutch Culture this time Woman lives a transparent life without Window Blinds So Everyone from the streets can see They Are loyal to their partner. In Modern days it Means 1 month Onboard and 1 month at home in Europe. We are lucky with it in Europe... Not as Seagoing ships and Their Sailors.
They do this a lot in There PH if someone loves you and wants to be with its doesn't go like that they have Everything they have from you you can't go now you leave with nothing thier cunning and users wish you luck 💗THAILAND. ALSO MY GOOD NESS
Foundations, ventilation, and insulation are the main issues. Too many Farang design Western Houses They should look more at Thai or Bali open planned Architecture. Hipped roofs are a no-go in my view.
Curious about what you are doing to make an income over there? Also, what kind of visa do you have and do you have to leave the country every few months?
Hi Ryan. Same as you, we use the local guys and they have always been fair and do a decent job…just putting an extra room and en-suite bathroom on a bungalow we built 20 years ago and its been fine. Question about the kitchen…we really like the design but what about dust with the open plan layout? Would you change anything looking back?
Hey Mark, would defo (and may add in future) large sliding or folding doors for the front, if you leave the lights on insects infest it and you cant keep it clean, layout works well for us and could double as a cafe in future!
@@lifeinruralthailand Thanks Ryan, those were exactly my thoughts and reasons. I will be keeping my eyes open for some nice Maii Sak sliding doors as this is termite central station. 🙏
I think all couples should do what works for them. I love sleeping with my husband. It’s just another way of connecting with him. It’s comforting to feel his body close to mine. However, it was very interesting to hear your wife’s rationale for sleeping with her children. Your wife is beautiful and such a lovely person.
I just know what your talking about building. 1997 by wife bought about 380 sqm land in Patong repossessed by bank. Wife get a local build man with rag tag band of working. Very cheap price 4 townhouse and apartment over parking. Shoddy build, often i had to go buy more bags cement to stiffen cement mix. Next build 7 townhouses and 5 apartment below. Managed myself, my wife buy material and hire staff. Much better quality build. Last one build 2006 out in Kata. Quality 6 upper 2 bed/floor town houses and 6 one bed below. Full hot water system (expensive), build large swim pool, 12 parking spots, 2 staff apartments. My wife always get the planning permission from town hall. No middle men, saved major money, Guess built self manage half price, but not price in our time.
I cannot sleep in bed with another person I used to have to wait for my girlfriend to fall asleep then I would have to move rooms. So Thai culture with separate rooms seems like an absolute dream
It seems to me that your wife is a little too keen to have you moving out. Time will indeed tell, but this conjugal arrangement has the appearance of moving in a negative direction with a kind of finality about it. Having said that, you both come across as warm, nice people and I wish you all the best. Really enjoy your Chanel, Thank you.
You mean the prefab? if so i dont like the feel of them and they heat up very fast, we looked at some but it works out cheaper and stronger to build :)
We went to see a few but I wasn’t keen - they felt quite cheap and were loud to walk on - I wasn’t convinced we would get more than 10-15 years out of it, saying this I know some subscribers have found good ones 👍🙏
Nice video. We. Are in Tapek near you if you are free tonight Saturday and tomorrow. Or maybe bump into you in Chaloem PG market. Keep up the good work
Love making , cuddling under the sheets ,naked body contact .the fundamentals of a loving intimate relationship. My wife wanted to sleep with our child I objected for the very reason above . I can hear during your questioning your wife why ? I can hear your frustration.
It’s interesting what people project - my wife is the one that wanted to sleep together and me not, she’s in bed by 8, we get to do all that before of course. But that’s when I basically start work, stock market opens and I’m in my zone. Kids benefit a lot in terms of feeling safe and getting good sleep being with their mother. Each to their own of course. We are probably closer now after a decade than ever, but not so codependent 👍
Never had a problem with that in Thailand with my thai partner and two kids . Sorry just very syrange to me this arrangement but hey whatever works for you both
im assuming you sleep and wake at the same time, i work at night mainly its not practical. I would say about 50% of my subscribers in the long term relationships have the same arrangement
