You read that correctly, I bought a 2014 Ford SVT Shelby GT500 Mustang that I found on Carvana. It didn't go as smooth as I hoped, in fact I'm in the middle of finding a resolution to the issues I've had thus far. But rest assured, the car is sticking around for years to come so I'm looking forward to bringing you guys more content once I get her back. Good times ahead! Also I changed the channel name to Texas Revving so there's that. The best days of this channel are ahead, stay tuned!

Now I see why their dealer license is expired in North Carolina until 2022. They seem kinda shady for a big company

I bought a 2013 boss 302 Laguna Seca…. It arrived on October 28th…. I was soooooo excited…. When the car arrived my smile quickly turned into a frown…. The site originally only pointed out a scuff on the trunk deck lid…. It looks showroom ready on their site….anyway…. Upon arrival…. The paint was ATTROCIOUS!…. Swirl marks all over the place…. The front bumper had a dent and deep scratches that someone filled in w a paint pen…. The right passenger side skirt had deep scratches and I assume the whole skirt will need repainting…. 3/4 wheels had curb rash…. I went to look at the tires hoping they were NoT the original tires from 2013….. they weren’t…. But they were some Walmart special tire called like tiger paw or something…. Ohhh and originally the car was delayed cus the roof was damaged in shipping…. So they repainted the roof and had dent taken out…. Anyway…. Driving the car was a different experience. Loved it…. Signed paper work…. Then I took car to my dads house for him to drive it…. After 15 min of driving it the CEL came on…. 6 different misfiring codes…. I started seeing the money pit is was gonna become…. Called Carvana and said I want to return the vehicle. They came 2 days later to get the car and it wouldn’t even start. It was a 2013 w 13,500 miles on it. But yea…. Like you said…. Hellen Keller must’ve inspected the vehicle. I was sad but still have my 14 modded GT mustang which I love. I was just THANKFUL I didn’t sell it before the boss came cus then I’d be very upset. Lol as soon as I get my deposit back imma leave Carvana a review. Customer service has been A+ at least.

Crazy mark up on the 13-14 cars. I have an 08 as the 07-09 are my favorite body style. Bought it right before the craziness with 27K miles for $25k. It was a show car and everything looks perfect inside and out. Already tuned and smaller pulley to get it at 550 at the rear. :) Plan on doing a TVS swap to give the same power as the 13-14....just minus the aluminum block of course.

First time watching your channel, thank you for sharing this! Less than 2 weeks ago, I purchase a 2016 Toyota Camry from Carvana and within 24 hours of having it, the car would not start. SilverRock had me take it to an NTB which took nearly 4 hours to change the battery... Once changed and the vehicle was home, I cranked it again only to hear an ungodly sound coming from underneath the hood. I returned it thinking it was a clean car, but it obviously was not. To you and anyone reading this, DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM CARVANA.

@ShadowsDeath
@ShadowsDeath 2 года назад
@@RonaldRaygun308 Yea but have to look at in the sense that its not a cheaper product, most people only buy a couple cars in their lifetime, also Carvana has a history of not giving titles, dropping cars off their delivery trucks, and overall ripping people off by selling cars 10-15% higher than market value. You may have had a great experience and no hate on you for that but companies like Carvana are making the already awful car market worse due to people being lazy and not researching when it comes to purchasing a vehicle.

@dadyking1210
@dadyking1210 2 года назад
@@BossMan302 7 day test is not enough to test for neglected fluid abuse. If you ignore certain maintenance on a car, the engine and transmission could break after 7 days easy. If Carvana is going to sell premium price, they should provide premium service. I do like how Carvana works, and how people can kind of just get cars from anywhere at this point, but a person could provide a trashed car to Carvana easily and a 7 day test drive isn't going to show much.

I feel like Carvana doesn't do a great job evaluating their cars. A 3,000 mile Z/28 had a fried clutch and wouldn't send appropriate power to the wheels. Wonder if it's just a muscle car issue.

As I recall, Ford did the speed runs on that crazy circle track in Italy, the Nardò Ring -a very sketchy place to run that fast. Odds are the mighty GT500 would have gone even faster on a straighter track. Kudos to Ford for even making the documented attempt.

For the reverse gear issue, I would maybe look into an MGW short throw shifter. The factory shifter linkage is the Achilles heel of the 11-14 GT500s, and mainly effects the 1st to 2nd gear shift, but can have a negative effect on a lot of the aspects of shifting the TR6060 transmission. I put an MGW in my 2014, and it made a big difference in the way it shifts, and once I got it broken in, my 1st to 2nd gear shifting issues have gone away. Hope you figure it out!
@CMOSX

This is the exact issue I had with my 14. I had the loosen the shifter at its base to give it a bit of wiggle room. Mine wouldn’t go into reverse unless man handling it and would get a grind. as well.

1-2 was the same tough shift for even my '09...and yup, the'12 was the worst. I guess I could have/should have tried a different shifter. The '13 I have now is such an improvement from that, it's tolerable.

Good luck getting issues resolved. You have way more patience than me. I would have just returned it - and started over. Having said that - it’s an incredible car. After getting out of my GT350 I found a perfect ‘14 last year - loaded like yours with 2900 miles at a dealer 200 miles from home. Luckily they told me it was perfect - and it was. I find it to be more exciting than driving the GT350. I agree that the ‘13/‘14 GT500 has good potential to increase in value big time. In the meantime- enjoy yours - it’s beautiful

For such low mileage, the paint condition is horrid. That alone would make me think how well it was taken care of. I'm not sure I would have accepted that myself, unless the price was right. I'm picky...probably more than most. Too many red flags with this car especially paying a premium for it. I hope you get everything sorted out and enjoy the ride. Congratulations 🎊

Agreed. I bought a ‘17 Audi TTS in 2020 from a private dealer in Phoenix with similar low miles. It was flawless as described. I sold it to an Audi dealer in Grapevine Texas. Came back a few days later for fixes on the car I traded for. The ‘17 was on the showroom floor and flawless. My point: if you are going to buy expensive rare cars bite the bullet and go with a real dealer. They can’t afford to sell less than correct cars - they would lose customers and cred.

I would've dumped that car faster than you could blink. Somehow you convinced yourself it was "clean". The swirls and paint defects indicate neglect. The reverse gear issues scream of abuse. That would be a hard no from me. The repairs alone devalue your "investment".

As a rule of thumb i usually get a neutral 3rd party to inspect car up on a hoist and test drive sizeable purchases like yours. I try to keep emotion out of the equation as it can have a car sold in your mind before money is even talked about. Money is the last part to get sorted. From your video, the car was yours after you kept driving it before you should have returned it. That's emotion in the mix where on paper with all the issues, all you had were red flags and you should have walked away. Just my 2 cents.
@GepsenLuv
@GepsenLuv 2 года назад
Dude, you just wanted the car. Say that. Don't try to justify it with "investment" bs. This was a pure emotional purchase, from the time it was bought to dealing with all the issues that came after. If it was truly an "investment" you would have dumped it and demanded a better conditioned one the moment issues became apparent😒😒 Plus, they aren't even exotic, these cars were overbuilt, not to mention that it has modifications, which also negatively impacts resale value. I say this as a mustang owner myself. You buy these for enjoyment. Period.

TBH could be a few things... like a rock driveway, some bad roads. But I do agree in the end... because it could be that the person that had it really had no idea how to use a manual.

This is what I am thinking. Looking at ALL of the spider webbing, that thing was poorly washed, probably a cheap mechanical car wash, just awful. A stray rock on an Interstate drive will do the damage here, especially if you are behind a Semi that veers on to the shoulder, it's all over, kiss perfection goodbye. Tires at 7000 miles. Yeah, it was driven, and probably hard. I wasted a set of Goodyear GT+4's on a Sunbird GT Turbo in 7900 when I was 16 years old.

You spend all that time on the lot looking at paint imperfections and meanwhile this thing has mechanical issues up the wazoo . Paint is paint...... Whatever.... The mechanics of the car are paramount and Millenials look right past that to "How it looks" . The answer I get ? "Well I know about looks and I can see that with my eyes" and my response . "So you are claiming having eyesight as a skill , and dont want to take the time to learn the rest to be able to go over a vehicle and find its issues?" You guys need to pick up the pace , this country will be yours one day to run.....

I worked at Carvana about a year ago in the brake and tire department. They are very “cheap” when it comes to adding tires on a car that should need new ones but they don’t bc the mileage doesn’t warrant a set of tires. The whole company is very shady and i got out of there within 5 months. They love to hide issues and get you out of the 7 day warranty and then you’re on your own. Seeing as ford changed the design leads me to believe the there was an underlying fault with the design in the s197.

If you expect a brand new car get a 2021. I bought my car knowing it will need some work. You bought a car for top dollar thinking it was perfect. A 2014 with 7,000 miles, and needs tires. Somebody drove the car hard for a while. If you expect to sell the car and actually make money, don't drive it and post videos on you tube. Don't modify the car, sell the car with same tires. If you are going to buy a sports car, drive it, enjoy it, don't think your investing money in the stock market. Oh yeah drive the car hard on back roads, then complain about paint chips. Really. Better get Maco!

So u mean to tell me, carvana sold u a car, then after u buy it and beat on it (now it’s atleast a 2 owner car) u can sell it for more than carvana sold it???? Hahahaha. So the guy who was going to buy your car for more than carvana sold it for could either buy it from carvana, or carvana could have sold it for more. U really think carvana is just giving out these deals that people can flip for a profit?? Lmfao. RU-vid is great. It’s such a fairytale

These carvana ppl are beating the bag out of the cars. Bought a 2020 Silverado from carvana w almost no problems except some minor imperfections. Tried to buy a 2010 camry with like 35,000 on it. When the Camry arrived , the whole lower half of the car had been repainted horribly. Told em not to even take it off the truck. So I ordered a 2010 camaro ss and it took 2 weeks longer to get the car. When it arrived the whole front body kit lip was definitely ripped off and put back on w a really bad double sided tape job. Had a lot more body damage than described. Under the car was covered in mud too. Told em don’t even take it off the truck take it back. I will not deal w carvana ever again. Carvana did not work with us at all and wasn’t willing to fix anything w the vehicles.

I picked up my ‘14 GT500 Sterling Gray fully optioned with 1100 miles on it almost 8 years ago from the original owner. She’s now cracked 14,000 miles and has become more of a garage queen. Sometimes my reverse doesn’t like to go in as well. I put it in 3rd and open up the mesh. Clutch depressed fully then go for reverse. It goes in wonderfully without hesitation or delay. I thought I’d leave a comment and let you know you’re not alone! Welcome to the club!! SUBSCRIBED!! 😁

I'm in the market for the same car in a few months. Love all the detail in your vid :) Bottom line here, NEVER buy a used car without either viewing and inspecting it yourself, or hiring a good inspector. Would love to have heard you say that to your viewers. I did that once in my life, I'll never do it again. Kinda lousy how Carvana apparently puts everything off on their "3rd party warranty".

I bought my 2014 GT500 from Carvana 13 months ago. I got lucky it had 5485 miles on it and a tiny dent in the drivers door, and a small tear in one of the rear stripes. This car was bone stock . The paint needed no correction and the interior was flawless. The engine bay and underside of the car was spotless. The car facts report showed yearly oil changes and inspections by Ford. Whomever owned this car originally must have been a clean car fanatic. This car will be shown in the July 2024 anniversary edition of Stang Magazine.

Vinyl imperfections don’t matter. Restripe the cat. It’s vinyl not Shelby specific vinyl that’s branded. The door sills can be replaced no big deal and the car can be detailed. But the price definitely should’ve been lowered. Return the car.

I’m dealing with the same exact issue currently, brought the car to the shop had $3,200 worth of work done after 3 weeks of having the car and there is still several issues with the car. They offered for me to bring the car back to the shop and have it inspected again but I had paid the $50 fee for a shop to inspect it, Carvanna sent out their own inspector, approved for work done but now I have the vehicle back and there is still issues. I truthfully don’t have the money to afford not having a vehicle. They told me that I could pay for a rental vehicle for them to look at it a second time but I’m not sure what to do because I don’t have extra money to afford a rental car every day. What happened in your overall situation and how do you think I should go about this??? If anyone could please give me advice I would appreciate it a lot because I’m lost with answers… thank you!

Carvana and Carmax sell beat up cars, I don’t know if they accept them as trade ins that way or if their transport company is rough on them. Every single car I have had them ship to me for a test drive has been 6/10, also don’t forget that people dump their “problem cars” to those places as well.

Good video. I can only say this for my experience with Carvana but my car was delivered on time and they pretty much told me about any and all scratches and dents . I only had to use my Silver Rock warranty 2 times onces for $600 key fob and a $3,000 turbo and they replaced it with no problems I only paid a $50 deductible both times. Good luck to you and your GT500

First you have to realize that rich people bought these cars new and did exactly what you did the first day, beat on it a bit, thats ok, they get run hard. I think you were a bit hard on the condition, from your video the paint looks totally correctable and id take some factory paint with little imperfections to a respray of panels that dont match just to fix little things. Im like you tho, Ive come to realize that no matter how nice people claim their car is they are selling, ill need a weekend in the driveway to make it mine and get it up to my standards.

Same kinda deal. I purchased a 2012 volkswagen gti with only 14,800 miles. Got it delivered no problem, come home next day and a little puddle appeared. Took it to pep boys via carvana, that was the closet shop that they use to cover cost of repairs or whatever to get it looked at. Turned out it was leaking form drain plug, and pep boys took 2 days to get a drain plug and change the oil. Got it back still dripping. So i took it to volkswagen and turned out it had a warped upper timing cover and pep boys installed the wrong drain plug again and was leaking out if that too still lol. So i paid volkswagen to fix it right, at 24,000 miles and carvana didn't want to cover the expense that i ended up paying because it wasn't there preferred shop or whatever. But just beware car was one owner like this guy stated when it got dropped off it was suppppper clean looking but bam.

Gf worked for caravana and she did photo which meant she inspected cosmetics and I would get 5-10 pictures daily of mismatched paint, incorrect badges, non attached trim, botched interior repairs, fluid leaks etc etc and she got yelled at for sending too many back. They put bandaids on their cars and push their junk onto the consumer. Shady, garbage, underhanded company that I’ll spread the word on as long as they exist.

I had kind of a similar situation when I bought my gt350 from carvana. They noted a couple rock chips and water spots, so I thought it was super clean. The day they were supposed to deliver it they called and said they couldn't get it to pass emissions. Fast forward 3 weeks and they had a Ford dealer replace the exhaust. So the day they deliver it I notice the splitter is all scraped up, the bumper has been repainted and has fisheyes if you look close, there's lots more rock chips than they disclosed, there's rock chips in on the windshield and there's a scratch that goes from the rear window to the trunk lid. The driver noted everything and said they'd get back to me. A few days later I get an email and talk to someone on the phone who says they are going to fix everything except the rock chips and the repainted bumper, they said those imperfections we're within carvana's limits for normal wear and tear. I ended up taking it to their preferred body shop, they replaced the windshield and rear window, they upgraded the splitter to a gt350r one, and they fixed the scratch on the trunk. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and the way carvana stood behind their product, but I wish they would have fixed all this stuff before it was delived.
