I bought an 18 XT5 w/ 28,000 miles 3 yrs ago. I got the full warranty on it,put 20" x9" wheels & keep it garaged. It has 44,000 miles & no issues & I love it. Very quiet,no sqeeks or rattles & it looks better than new. I do pamper the heck out of it.
I just bought the tricoat white ct6 premium luxury and I must say it's the best out of 5 other cadillacs I've owned. My last was the ats performance which was super fun and fast but the ct6 is a real cadillac in ride and quality... best car ever
I have a 2017 CTS 2.0T and it's just a great car. Bought at the worst time when used cars were at a premium. 51,000 miles on it. I hope to keep it for 5 years or more. At least I don't have lease or car payments
Thanks for this detailed review really helps for someone like me whose research to buy one of these. I love that you test the fit and finish of the interior the way you pressed on the pieces. Suck that even for their premium car, the general still used SO much cheap plastic... its a GM afterall😊 Also glad you pointed out the 3.0tt needs premium gas where as the NA 3.6 do not. I think I just might consider one just like yours with the 4 wheel steering as that's a really cool feature to have on a big car. Liking everything I see on your ride. The wood trim color is acceptable for me via you can really tell it's supposed to be wood. Would prefer it to be something different but that's not a deal breaker and can easily be fixed .
As far as American sedans (full size cars) for me the old LTD's Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, Lincoln and even the panther platform from Ford is the epitome of comfort...how does this compare to that old platform? I've always been curious to know how these modern cars compare or if there exists a comparison. I haven't driven a new Cadillac so I guess I would have to test drive one
I have a 2016 CT6 Platinum 3TT and I have not problems with it. A very good car. I have also a MB EQS electric car and even if EQS is a Mercedes top quality I am still using with pleasure CT6. Maybe Cadillac will come back to the lines of CT6 with future electric vehicles because they were not capable to build on CT6 idea.
Nice, I got the 2017 CT6 Platinum 3.0TT Black on Black. It’s a Great Car I Love It! I bought it with 21,000 miles back in 2020 got a great deal! No issues yet at 47,000 miles!
I feel like a lot of the people that claim "reliability issues" are the same ones with twin turbos hovering their finger over the premium button on the gas pump and hitting regular as soon as nobody's lookin.
I bought a 2017 3.6 for my wife and liked it so much I bought a 3.0TT for myself. Both cars have over 100k on them now with no problems other than the transmission shudder on the 3.6. P.S. The interior quality is more than acceptable. You must have creaky fingers.
I bought a 16 3.0tt premlux it’s awesome tbh but the transmission really does do some funky shit and it pisses me off super bad. I bought it a year and a half ago at 37k miles and I’m at 51k now and about to do a trans fluid flush. Ngl the transmissions are a headache but I’ve learned what it doesn’t like so I can get a smooth ride but it’s still gets me sometimes.
A year later & still no problems & i get comments on it every were i go no transmission issues. I think 4 or 6 had transmission issues. But every manufacturer has problems❤ have a good day
2.0tt, 3.6, 3.0tt and 4.2 platinum or V blackwing this vehicle has plenty of engine choices...I love this car by the way and is the origional true blackwing in 4.2 V
I've had a 2016 CT6 Platinum for 6.5 years & 50,000 miles. Great car, too bad Cadillac discontinued it. Question - what front license plate holder did you use. It looks like Sto & Sho, but they don't make a CT6 model. PLMK if possible and thank you. Moved to Texas, need a front license plate.
A down to Earth view of a Cadillac. A nice car for quite a bit of money. He gave a fair rating. Is it worth it? That is up to each person's feel. I still let people make their own judgements.
From what I have read, the CT6 have a higher rate of repair, so I would get a warranty with that car. You will need it. Uber driver here. I have gotten more reliable CTS and ATS.
I don’t think you can turn it off but you can minimize how often it gets used. Every time it has come on for me I’ve used it, and it’s not like it’s stomps on the brakes, it just lets off the gas and lightly applies the brakes and vibrates your seat. I love it, it’s saved me a few times already.
@benjamindover5567 It definitely stomps on the gas on the Toyota Camry, rav 4, and the Audi Q5. I'm sure the cadillac is no different. I have been driving for 30 years with zero at fault accidents. I don't need or want this technology.
@@benjamindover5567 A seatbelt doesn't lock up and try to choke you to death for no reason. I am constantly fighting this car. I go to move over a lane and the wheel jerks me back then I have to yank it hard to fight it. I was slowing down rapidly with a car behind me rapidly slowing down as everyone was doing. Everyone was fine. Then all of the sudden for no reason my car locks up the brakes and the guy behind me nearly hit me. It nearly CAUSED a wreck.
@@benjamindover5567 I am fine with this being offered but there should be a permanent off switch for those of us who know how to drive. I am 48. I have been driving legally for 33 years with ZERO at fault wrecks. I do not need or want this. It is extremely dangerous.
Sorry, but I've owned three new CT6's: 2 '17s and currently a '19. The first two barely made it to 2000 miles before being returned to GM with a combination of build-quality issues, transmission failures, and electrical gremlins. The 19 has been ok and now has 20,000 miles on it, though it, too has been gutted with wiring harness replacements. The 10 speed transmission is far better than the gawdawful 8 speed, though as it has aged, the confused shifting and clunking is annoying. The interior has way too much plastic, but I reallize that this is an entry level luxury car. I've owned 13 Cadillacs throughout my adult life, but sadly, the CT6 is my last. Time to move up to Audi, BMW or Mercedes.
Many 16 and 17's were returned to dealerships when both the dealership AND the customers gave up because of glitches . . . if those were bad when NEW, I doubt they got better with age . . . transmissions, electrical connections and build quality issues were a challenge. Not a lot that DIY'ers can do to repair old CT6's
Thanks guys for sharing the poor reliability issues of the ats Cadillac because I think they look nice and was considering buying one but wow is they breaking down on highway when brand new then I know it only gets worse the more they age GM should be ashamed of they self charging so much money for Cadillacs that break down so much the buyers have to return it
My premium Lux has the rear entertainment system. Notice his doesn’t have the massaging seats, that’s only on the platinum. His rims look like platinum trim tho
@@danielwatts9803 the dedents on the Cadillac hinges are very good with a solid closing door. Most people getting in and out would never use sift close feature.
@@normt430 This overlooked/ cost cutting detail by Caddy shouldn't even be a topic for discussion, smh'. ESPECIALLY at this price point.. Shame, shame, shame
@@danielwatts9803 I think the driver and passengers would be more enthused over the highest rated self driving, Supercruise, than to have to yell/be yelled at not to slam the doors. That would get old!
I thought that the greatest mistake that Cadillac made was marketing this against the S Class and 7 Series instead of the 850 Gran Coupe and the CLS which were more comparable in driving characteristics and physical size.
Change the oil regularly. and most problems never occur; reliability equal to most other manufacturers V-6's. The LGX 3.6 is a very good engine IMO; adequate power, pretty darn good mileage (typically over 30 mpg at a constant 70 mph). Opinions vary, I've had four 3.6's over the years and nary a problem.
@@chuckgrenci6404 Never heard about any issues with the 3.5 liter V6 that Toyota has used in many Toyota and Lexus vehicles for many many years pretty much across their range of vehicle offerings.
@@lilred1107 And how many years/generations did it take to become " very reliable"? Was it like the northstar, their flagship engine, that took more than a decade
@@turnne You must be another one of those blind to issues Toyota has individuals.... the 3.5 is none for timing chain issues and oil leaks as they age...
The sound of the interior is like GM, is using cheap plastic to make car weigh less, and will later become brittle and crack . I hope that's not the case. It's a beautiful car.
i loved the ATS look but i love the CT6 size. the interior is garbage with 90s buick vibes and the rear 3/4 makes the car look fat and grandpa like. i might pick one up eventually if any survive. right now they are in the mid 20s range to low 30s which is too high for something im buying for no reason other than big car to add to the fleet
I’m not sure what pushing and squeezing all of the trim is supposed to accomplish. Every car on the market, including Aston, Martin, Bentley and Rolls-Royce all use clips to attach trim pieces. Certainly if you push pull and shove on them, they’re going to squeak the true test, how does it perform driving down the road. I would have an issue if I had squeaks and rattles driving down the road. Just saying.
My '01 740 Sport interior is leagues above this interior. Clearly as you can hear & see it has cheap/plasticky construction EVERYWHERE. I sat inside one of these at the dealer and was totally disappointed. The rear door shades aren't cut to the shape of the windows. It's just more unrefined American junk. HARD PASS!! smh'
Owning a 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in with 40k is no squeaks or rattles and has been solid to date. The boom microphone mounted on the camera js picking on more the naked ear can hear. And I have perfect hearing. Besides, if it was as bad this test why would the tester buy one? Put your money where your mouth is!
@@normt430 Put your money on a Hyundai/Genesis in 2022 into 2023. It's water under the bridge now that Caddy just introduced their new electric vehicles. HOPEFULLY they got it together this time around, smh'...
@@danielwatts9803 the G80 Electrified is enticing. But with no G90E the G80E it is too small. Plus it won't handle like Cadillac does since I don't have a Corvette currently.
I think its so annoying that people who can afford and buy high $ cars and try and find any way to get out of having to use premium gas. Boostane is a google search away for you cheapos! 🫠😆
There actually was a Blackwing version of this car, but I think it was only sold in Canada. I believe it was a 5.5 liter. Throttle House has a great review on it, they loved it!
