I have one, bought new during the covid era and paid about 7% less than MSRP. Love the power, and no issues at all and foe the bonus when I drove from Miles City Montana to Fargo ND about 470 miles without a stop. My MPG readout was 30.3 however when hand calculated it came to 29 mpg. Same trip in a friends CTS-V gave us 19.3 MPG
I owned one for a year - and loved the car. The handling in all modes is superb, the cabin is silent, the Bose Panaray 34-speaker setup is brilliant. I would still own the car but I retired, killing my 120-mile-day commute. I miss that large comfortable rocket ship!
The v6 is not garbage. It's a freaking Cadillac. If you want a race car or your car to sound loud, get a Dodge Charger. How fast do you think u can go anyway if u live in the city?
@DM-by5sr compared to this cars competition, yes it is trash. The Germans sell their cars with a V8 as standard then starting selling v6 option with much more power
Great video. You left out a few things however. The CT6-V also has four wheel steering. It's needed on a large car like this. Second, you mentioned that the Black Wing V8 ( the true Black Wing) was also put in the CT6 Platinum. True, but it was detuned. It was rated at 500 HP compared to 550 for the CT6-V. You stated that the torque was 600. I think that was closer to the Platinum. The torque of the CT6-V was 640. From the calibration of the Magnetic Ride Control, different tires, algorithm of the 10 speed automatic transmission. and upgrades to the Black Wing V8, among others, the CT6-V is a much different car then the CT6 Platinum. The CT6-V is the best handling full size car ever! Why do I know so much about the CT6-V? I worked directly for Cadillac for 38 years. I think the CT6-V is the best full size Cadillac every made. I actually own one and it's truly an amazing car. I've owned many cars in my career including German and Japanese but I always come back to Cadillac. I especially love the V models. I also own a Lexus LS430. I could argue it's probably the best car ever made regardless of price but that discussion is for another time. Last, for a car it's size ( about 17 feet long) it gets respectable fuel economy on the highway. In four cylinder mode it gets close to 30 MPH on the highway. In the city not so great but who cars. Cheers!!!!
Thanks for the extra info! LS400/430 would have to be on my list as well. Amazing cars despite being bargains these days they do everything anyone NEEDS a car to do and then some
Wow, impressive . Even many years ago when there weren’t any cars as complex as today’s, I tended to stay away from the loaded ones - more to go wrong. This- well you just need to not think too much about that and enjoy it when things are working right.
I still have one, bought it new. I have had Corvette Z06's and still have a 1970 Trans Am. This car absolutely does it all, in great comfort I feel fortunate to be able to own it. First set of tires lasted 9,500 miles. The truly was one of GM"s best products. Shame they closed the plant and converted the plant to build EV's. Oops.... Hoping to own it for a long time.
The car's computer calculates the range based on the way the car is driven. If you are doing stoplight dashes it's going to give you a low mileage prediction. Normal driving gives you higher expectations.
Why this car went unknown is amazing I bought one and best purchase ever. If I had to compare it to anything it would be Bruce Banner controlled anger and then the Hulk shows up!
Likeable review. Yet, it's not without my pet peeve again, the good old "heads up display". An HUD is a head-up* display, because you don't have to look down on you car's gauges to get your drive data, but it allows you to keep your "head up".
You're probably right, the DTS that came before it also had a fixed rear seat. The smaller cts and ats had folding seats though. I guess the figure more money = just rent a truck or use the wife's crossover
Great review. However, I disagree with your assessment of “catastrophic fuel range”. When on the highway on a average of 75+, we are seeing 25-27MPG with the AFM engaged on these cars. In the city? Yeah, it’s going to be bad due to stop and go traffic, but for that amount of power and comfort, I think it gets a fantastic range for what’s offered. As a daily driver for me, in city I am getting 250+ standard for regular non-“spirited” driving. So based off your statement, I can confirm that the estimated fuel range on the car was due to the dealership and how it’s being driven.
Its a safe assumption that given the nature of the car its driven enthusiastically at the dealer. Pretty cool for the car that so many people want to see/show off how impressive it is. Especially how many people who work at the dealer are jaded about cars in general.
@@TreadDepthChannelthey are fantastic vehicles that unfortunately GM dumped before it even hit the showrooms. They have privated anything mentioning the model, there was no fanfare like the new Blackwings and Vs, and having a dealer that knows how special this car is, is terribly rare. My dealership when I ordered mine in January 2019 didn’t even believe it existed and attempted to sell me a 2018 Platinum instead. Up until I waved $1000 down payment the same day to have them do a bit a research. Two weeks later, I had my allocation. 11 months after, I finally had her delivered.
@@TreadDepthChannel Got to love GM Authority and its subsidiary Cadillac Society for wanting clicks…. They typically do that for a lot of models for the clicks. They got their hand officially slapped by GM when they tried to drag the Lyriq-V through the dirt claiming that it had the same performance as the AWD model. GM swooped in and told them to stop telling lies, to which they added the update to their article not two days after it was posted.
I wouldn't trust the AFM. I've read some of the comments from owners on the Cadillac forum where their CT6-V engine blew up with the AFM. One comment even said theirs exploded from the stop-start at a stop light. (may have been the cylinders kicking back in?). I even watched a car review a few years ago, dont remember the channel but the guy is in Shreveport, LA...anyways, he came to a stop to test the 0-60 times, and when he punched it the car about stalled out and made a big coughing noise. He posted in the comments "does anyone know what happened there?" My guess it's AFM was on, cylinders deactivated, and then turned back into V8 mode when he punched it, and probably came close to having the engine explode.
i bought a 2019 CTS-V a couple of months ago. then bought a CT5 Blackwing and sold the CTS-V. i was just telling my girl i regretted selling the CTS. i got a great deal on it. but the two cars are really redundant. i was thinking about getting another. but im going to get one of these instead.
It continues to accelerate because it's an electronic throttle while allowing the turbos to safely spool down, Install a decent blow off valve.. whoosh
I bought two the first one. However, you’ll see on RU-vid in the wrecking yard as I had to dump it into a curb to avoid a T-bone collision in intersection late at night so I have one left awwww! actually, after the insurance company paid off, I went out looking for another of these cars as my first was gone could not find one for months finally got a call from a guy at GM in Detroit saying that they had one was interested. It was one of the original builds made for show use behind the velvet ropes, it traveled around apparently a few hundred miles on that was for all intents and purposes it was brand new brand new they put Brand New tires on it before they sent it down to me and Georgia. I drive it occasionally as I have several other pretty cool vehicles but I love this car seriously I’m 73 but have a hot rod heart. If you ever get a chance to drive one you will understand it is pretty special!
it is possible yet other wheels are fine.. i use paint safe cleaner (not gonna mention it here) for this reason. 0 issues for 15+ years. @@TreadDepthChannel
I’ve been looking for one. Every one I’ve seen, the coating is delaminating on the keyless start button and even the controls for the windows are doing the same. I really want one but considering the price tag those little things turn me off
@@TreadDepthChannel it’s a Chevy/gmc issue. None of my Fords have that problem. Of course they have other issues but it bugs me to see that. I’ll probably still buy one but I need to find one that isn’t already starting to peel/delaminate.
PS who wants a faster car when is blackwing can go at 200 mph top speed and then I did some research on Google from 0 to 60 at 3.8 seconds that's pretty fast for a big boat beautiful car 👍🏻👍🏻😎
I own a STS-V, which is rare. The CT6-V is much rarer. Based on my experience with parts and service, I would never own another rare GM product again, especially out of warranty.
I had an STSV a couple years ago, I sold it to cover some of the loan of my CTS Vsport, and now I want this car. Honestly, I feel like this is just the new STS-V, and that makes me want to get one even more.
No one on you tube has paird the ct6-V against the ct5-V....why is that? The car is great just that the dealship suck$! And no one buys a V8 for gas mileage these days especially not one with 550 HP and 640TQ
@@TreadDepthChannel if my mother didn't crash CASSANDRA, I'd still be driving her. Does my CT6 have some advantages? A bunch I would say, but the audio upgrade is going to be one crazy challenge, especially where I have less trunk space. But if I had to choose... I'll take the CT6, since I would've had CASSY up until this point anyway.
How does your mind work????? What kind of engine does the car have and what are its specifications????? You speak a lot if nonsense comparing this cars withers designed for much different purposes !!!!!!!
I just have a problem with a Cadillac trying to sound like a Dodge Charger. I'm old school & I just don't think a Cadillac should be trying to sound like a race car
