If I had a motor and trans to put in there, I would buy the body. I just don't have the money to do so. The charger motor you pulled out of Roadblock would have been a fun choice to restomod this New Yorker.

After you pull that engine PLEASE put another one in its' place. SInce you are on a budget, I suggest you look for a 70's Dodge Tradesman camper for sale with a 360 4bbl. There are a lot of these motor homes for sale for less than the cost of the engine or maybe even as low as the cost of hauling it away, and they are typically very low miles. Could be an interesting resto-project video series for TQG. On a related note, that New Yorker is not that much different than the Chrysler Imperial used for the Tv series Green Hornet: add green-tint plastic shields for the headlights, a new trunk lid with the Imperial spare-tire bulge, paint it black and you have a cult classic, and you already have the wheels! Don't let that classic die as an empty hulk.

Even if only the big block is needed out of the Chrystler, You should still offer the body and chassis as a roller for scrap value. Even if the body ends up chopped up and slapped on a squarebody frame, it deserves a second chance at life in some way. At least then if it has to be scrapped at the end, you'd have tried and be into it no farther than the situation you're in now with it. Great video Jared!

The Canadian 'Yorkers were hard top as the base model, with stainless trim below the belt-line. My brother parted a Windsor(Canadian version of Newport, 66 was last year with that moniker) 6 window sedan that was the only 6wdo I've ever seen that wasn't a 'Yorker.. Unfortunately it was too far gone and sacrificed pieces to keep the other 3 going.

The 1966 Chryslers hold a special place in my heart. My late Grandfather bought a green '66 Newport 4-door new and it stayed in the family for 40+ years. It's the car I drove to get my learners permit, practice in for my license and then drove all over town until I bought my first car; a '76 New Yorker (of all things). The Newport was only the standard 383, but it was more than capable of frying the tires and the transmission was stout enough to survive my dumb teenage self accidentally slamming in to park while going through a parking lot. Could easily cram at least eight people in the cabin, plus quite a few more in the trunk. So at first, when it sounded like you were just getting this car for the engine and trashing the rest, I was genuinely worried I'd have to de-Jared-ify myself... and that would be a pity. No idea what the next episode holds, but now that you've sworn you're not trashing it, I'm a wee bit less worried. 🙂 One way or another, I hope it goes to a good home!

Then do a mild restore and it will be a wonderful driver. By the way, I have had those exact tires on my 2015 R/T for over a year. They have been good tires for me. Run smooth and very grippy. Still has plenty of tread after almost 20,000 miles.
