Carly sucks, especially their lack of 'service' and 'interesting' billing practices. My personal experience reflects the many 1 star TrustPilot reviews.
@@Waiting_For_James_Mate Also no reminder about the much inflated 2nd year subscription and no refund when you discover it has come out of your bank account!
I 100% agree. Just got my first car (mk1 Leon Cupra) and has black rs4 wheels on it. They don’t look bad but I deffo want to get the oem ones if possible
I see that car every time I go out. It's the one that sits 2 inches from my back bumper with 'bangin tunes' blasting out then performs the death defying overtake with the bus coming the other way. Well done, Matt, you've 'de boy racered' it 😊
Had an 04 3 door 1.6 petrol for 8 years, bought it at 8 years old and kept it til it was 16 years old, absolutely loved it. So well put together especially the interior, lovely gearbox, the dual climate control was great on a small car of that age, very rare back then. Such a comfortable and pleasant car to drive. Wish I'd kept it.
I've never owned a manual or no-aircon car because I don't want to fiddle with it. just keep it on auto all the time and change only temp as needed. never had any aircon issue on any car, not even regassed.
Living in the tropics, every car you see has those window shields. They're not just wind deflectors, they allow for the windows to be open a crack for ventilation and keep the rain out running or parked. Also you can't see that the windows are open. Oh and it's 30° plus and humid here today😉
Since cars don’t have a gutter along the top of the doors anymore rain comes in to the cabin. Useful for vapists and smokers when it’s raining which is most of the time in the uk.
Still got a 2.0 tdi 07 A3 and it's wonderful. 170k miles on the clock and only just had to replace clutch and flywheel from original of 18 years. They don't make them like they used to.
My first and present car is a 07 A3 8p 1.6 sportback. I adore the thing. Have had it Two years never any problems with and is cheap as chips to insure and tax here in Ireland. Great cars !
Had an 07 golf with the same engine, been an absolute solid car for me. Owned it for 5 years with no issues. My mother is now driving the car, 120k miles, still going strong!
@@carlstansfield9696 what's weird about what they said? buying a second-hand car reduces the negative environmental impact of manufacturing a new car.. keeping an old car on the road is the greener option
Prestige wheels must be giving you a good deal. Full set, strip down , recon, dent removal/rebuild, new base coat and repowder coat for 280 quid is a deal and easily added double that to the value of the car !😄😄
7:58 it actually says, according to my wife, “you will have no worries in middle age, you will have a lot of food and in later life you will be wealthy” or some such shit.
I’m glad you share my ridiculous knowledge on these old busses. As for the OY number plate, VW are based in MK and more often than not they pre reg a lot of demos and things there. As for the smell, I agree, the smell of the VAG era were legendary.
Welcome to the club Matt. Exactly the same as my runaround car. Thats not an S-Line though. Its a Sport like mine, someones stuck an S-Line badge on the grill. Sport was just below S-Line so they actually weren’t miles apart spec wise. You still got the hugging sports seats but without s-line written on them, main difference was S-line would have had slightly more agressive front and rear bumpers Mine is on a 57 plate and is Identical to yours spec wise (minus leather I just have cloth, and the 2.0TDI, I have the very last of the non DPF 1.9TDI’s before the 1.6 TDI’s came in). I’ve got only 117k on mine and have owned it since 2021. The aircon still blows stone cold and it still has that Audi smell they all had from that era. Call me biased but its a great run-around / second car
Audi, absolute class. I have a 2005 Audi tt . Runs superbly and is like new 😊😊.My daughter has a 2004 Audi tt ,again quality car. Looks and drives like new. Have fun with the car 😊 Matt 😊
Love these type of videos Matt. Will it be saved/wont it be saved jeopardy type storyline. You’ve done the right thing with this one. £1500 runaround for your business, perfect. Well done.
My wife has a 16 year old A3 2.0 TDi too. She’s had it for 12 years and it has never failed its MOT. She loves it and has no desire to get anything more modern. It still drives brilliantly
I had a 53 reg 2.0 tdi sport 3 door. It was my first proper company car and I thought I was the dogs bollocks! Suspension was too firm but the engine and gearbox was really good. The engine will go forever and they are a really solid car. I'd just want working aircon!
Hi Matt, basically the older the Audi the better! We have an Audi A4 TDi 90BHP(1996) in the family, everything still works, even the aircon! That 2.0TDi engine is pretty bullet-proof but do change the oil and oil filter every 5k miles to keep it running well.
I love your justification for 'saving' another car, plus the car was in decent condition and as you say, driving it with consideration can make the difference in the life span. Carly is great, I've not used it for anything else than clearing fault codes (re-occurring ones too), so I should try the other features.
You were so right Matt, those black wheels and spoiler looked shocking, it now looks like, if not new, certainly not a 2008 car, a wise choice to hang on to it as a runaround.
Those wind window deflectors you hate Matt are great when eating a McDonald’s in the car park when it’s raining , gives a good flow of air without getting the door panel wet. Plus they look cool !
If you do sell it Matt, then expect to see it tailgating you at some point with the obligatory base ball cap wearing driver mouthing swear words at you for going too slow! It's a lovely car though.
In some instances the AC repairs on these aren’t too bad. You mentioned a high-pressure fault code. Often on these the high pressure sensor cracks internally and allows the refrigerant to leak out. They are pretty easy to change and parts aren’t expensive.
Bravo Matt, great to see you not massively overspending and achieving an awesome reeeeesult with this Audi. Should have done the 70 quid valet though mate, it's well worthy. Any way, wishing you and team HPA wonderful miles and smiles with this lovely motor. Cheeeers from Mauritius.
I still have this car. 370xxx km and still going strong. It mostly sits in the parking lot now but its always there for the job when needed. My wife bought it when we started dating like 10 years ago and we travelled all over Europe with that. Never missed a beat. Love it.
The strange feature on the parcel shelf is a sun shade and also very useful for blocking blinding headlights from the rear. An option on the A3. These are great cars as well.
Tow bar is a selling point. Bought a cheapish car in 2017 with a towbar fitted. When getting quotes declaring the towbar made the insurance up to £100 cheaper. Food for thought.
My daughter drives a 2006 Quattro version of this A3 2.0 TDi and it is a pocket rocket. It's done a100,000 miles with regular servicing it is remarkably reliable. Passed out MoT every year no issues and recently had a timing belt and water pump done. Once again, I wish I had Jimmy the Magician living near me! Thanks for the video and I hope you get the same great service from your A3. No numberplate replacement?
Hello I've been watching your channel for while and it's got me interested in cars again and Saturday I'm picking up a 2015 jaguar 2.2 portfolio can't wait I've always wanted to own a JAG keep up the good work.
You've picked the best engine for that model so with regular servicing you should have many happy years of motoring.Hope enjoy your new car and have some great trips in it 👍
I can certainly see the benefit having something fairly smart-looking when turning up to collect cars. It's those little bits of professional presentation that really make a reputation, at least in my mind. And even though it's old, that A3 is perfect for that role. The wheels really lift the whole car, so much better than the dirty black look, definitely worth the money.
They are good, solid cars. A bit frightening they’re so old though. I bought one new in 2009 after a few years of running old bangers. Audi were doing a finance deal which meant the A3 cost me less a month than I was spending maintaining my old Vectra! It was only a 1.6 petrol so was a bit slow but was a Technik edition so had Bose stereo and bigger wheels. I only kept it a couple of years but it was one of those cars which could have lasted forever if cared for.
Had a 2010 Black Edition version of that car Matt. It was stunning and built like a tank. Did about 40000 miles in it and never failed once. Brilliant cars.
Was hoping youd pop the bonnet to have a look at the engine, 2008 is the crossover between facelift and pre-facelift I dont know enough about A3's to sport which this is, so its either a 2.0TDI PD170 or CR170. I loved the PD170 very tuneable engine.
It's really a good car for about 1500 quid, however i think it would be even less hot in there with no leather seats, and also more modern with the cruise control. Also being a 2008 model,if it's the 140hp ha the bmn code engine, that has no head issues as the bkd engine code. My dad has one identical to this with about 253.000 miles on the clock (about 407.000km here in Italy) and it goes really well: he uses it for word every day and the car never stopped since day one. It has original clutch, suspension and 16 wheels cause 17 are too stiff for our road. The only issue it the car roof that has to be repeared.
Had a 170 hp A3 Quattro S Line diesel. Drove it over 130,00 miles. Did one trip into Europe over 5000 miles, a good car but started to have issues after 15 years of use.
‘Vajazzly key case’ 🤣 That’s gotta be a classic phrase. Can we have some merch with some of these classic phrases please, like ‘headlights could do with a buff’, ‘that’s a lot of car for the money’ and ‘crying out for a set of new number plates’
What a difference those wheels made - my current Exeo 2.0 TDi has 185k miles and my previous one had 225k miles when I sold it - both engines never missed a beat - I am sure the A3 will run for years yet. Great video .
Just part ex'd my black 1.9tdi A3e for £1500. It was 2008 with years MOT, 110k new cambelt & water pump and service just done. Bodywork was extremely good for the year (envy of the neighbourhood). Didn't expect to find my new car so quick (Skoda Yeti Tdi 2011 with 75k miles). That's the way it goes!
I've got an A3 S-Line quattro hatchback, the 3 doors look so much better, but aren't as practical. Mines done 232,000 miles and drives better than a lot of newer cars I've driven. Can't fault it, such a good little run about.
Loving the video. They are great cars. Proud owner of an Audi A3 2.0TDI 2005 240K Miles. Things just keep going, granted, after replacing many parts. So it you want to buy a high milage, slightly more rusty looking S-line DSG version with minor coolant and oil leaks let me know :)
looks tidy enough 👍 as for the air con, just keep browsing ebay for some secondhand stuff, and when its in the mechanics next time, just get him to whack them on 👍👍
Mat your such a perfectionist. Even the sleeve on your shirt is perfectly ironed you just know you could buy anything off you and it would be 100% A1 top lad
Hey Matt! I am so glad to hear you say that you don’t like cars with tow bars attached. I agree 💯! If you need to tow, buy a truck. Car + trailer or camper = stupid. Or as we say, lake trash lol. Don’t mean to offend anyone! Just Texas Slang
Those front tyres and the state of the wheels and the interior say everything you need to know about the previous owner but saying that I do believe there's life left in this Audi 👍
A friend of mine recently had an aircon issue with an A4 2.0 tdi and it turned out to be a leaky sensor. New sensor and a regas and Bob's your uncle. Might check it out on that A3, if it's a cheap fix it's always worth doing, especially if you're borrowing the car to customers or are considering selling the car at a later date.
5th gear done the test a few years ago. It is much much better to have more worn out tyres on the front. If front loooses grip it is fairly easy to correct. If back swings - not so much. They have trested in the rain on the bend. I agree with them.
Oh that was a trip down memory lane... The first car I actually bought was a 2004 A3 2.0 TDI with the DSG from that generation, but the 3-door version, with the dual frame. Even though it's already a common rail, that motor sounds very similar to the injector-pumps I had... I'm off, I have old playlists to listen to now very urgently.
