I love those bumpers. They don't look like something someone just welded in a garage with flat plates of steel. All those curves and bars really fit the whole look of the truck.
Dang guys - y’all sure know how to make me feel welcomed back again. Super appreciate all the great comments. I’ll try and do better and keep the content coming! Thank you everyone!
The options on your PXL are outstanding, such a great build. We also picked up our 22’ Prospector XL from Jackson @ Ellis Glendale RAM and 100% confirm it was the best experience. He also uses these rigs and is super knowledgeable. Great video again 🤙
I have a 75th power wagon and this is the only other truck I would even think about trading it for . You sir have one amazing ride and I hope you have many great over land travels in it. 🏆
Congrats! Jason that's a beautiful beast. My dream truck is a 2017 orange power wagon, our hope unless that something changes is in two years from today. If somehow you are able to take that to Mars that would be the first overland video out of this world
Jeez! I have da same addiction… Shiny objects at car dealer/motorsports dealers, picking up my new 2023 F350 next week. My FWC, tires & wheels, suspension, window tint and Warn Winch will all be installed in the first 6 days. That’s to go along with the 3 motorcycles that I haul in my trailer. Ya gotta live life to have a story… In da end all ya got is your story. Ya got yourself a sweet rig Jason!
Roll to a stop.... E-brake to the floor.... Neutral.... let the truck lurch forward (while still on the brake, of course).... put it in Park.... listen to the wonderful sound of your truck and its transmission thanking you. It will thank you again when you crank it again and put it in Drive. Congrats on your new Prospector!
Way to go Jason! I have long thought of acquiring a newer Dodge Cummins vehicle again to replace my 4-door Rubicon, and the AEV Prospector would be at the top of my list... ENJOY! Looking forward to seeing you and the new rig out on the trail!👍😎
Super cool rig man!! I cant wait to see more videos of this ride. As someone thats been trying to figure out whether to get the Prospector or just a regular HD ram I can t wait to see your rig and how you use it.
Awesome looking truck, so it sayin it keeps everything to the stock factory settings but with all that stuff added how much capacity in towing and cargo do you loose? I know the higher trim Rams drops like a stone in cargo with then higher trim packages to like 1100lbs compared to the 4500+ on the lower tier packages....
Absolutely awesome truck Jason! I totally agree that Overlanders/offroaders are always on the quest of finding the perfect setup/truck. So glad you found yours! I have been thinking of heading down the PXL road as well.. but been quite reticent because of the overall width of the truck. For a bit of context: in WA, our trails are quite narrow (1-1.25/1.5 trucks wide).. How does your experience fare about that? :)
Welcome back! I get some catching up to do, seems like I'm a little behind on your vids. I used to really enjoy the 4Runner stuff, the Ram is definitely much higher level.
Jason, I know I’m late to the party. Did you ever consider the prospector with 37 instead of the XL model with 40’s? Do you have any regrets or would you choose any additional options? The XL sure has a presence that’s for sure. Just wondered if the 37’s would be a better all around tire size especially mpg wise. Thanks for the video. Awesome stuff
Reminds me of a funny dialogue exchange from the movie "Diggstown". "I'd give my d_ _ _ for a truck like that." "What would be the use of having it?" Nice rig.✌️
Great to see you back. I’ll probably be hitting up Jackson in the next week or two to put our PXL order in. Hope to have it by Expo West, but we’ll see.
Amazing truck! Maybe I can afford a down payment on one after this fire season flying drones. 😬😬 Such a rad truck. Is warranty the same with Canadian dealerships? Great video, Jason.
Thanks! Just keep up the hussle and stay focused on your dreams and you can make it happen. One word of advice - keep an eye on the used market. They've sold a lot of these the last 3 years and some, I believe, will start hitting the used market. Not sure about the warranty/Canadian question.
This is one cool looking truck, but this is all strictly appearance. Diesels aren’t always the best off road vehicles because of weight, and this package adds another 2000lbs to the truck. Although this one of the coolest looking trucks out there, it doesn’t really have any more capability than stock, in fact, you’re going to lose some payload and towing capacity. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just that you should be aware of what you are getting for your money.
Eh, I don't know about that. There are other vehicle platforms that are good for some things, but these big trucks have their place. They do look cool but larger tires and the capability to run them effectively is one of the best ways to increase offroad capability and comfort. And I didn't lose any payload or towing capacity, at least not enough to notice.
Maybe I am wrong but isn't a 2500 especially with a diesel engine too heavy to really be overlanding? From my understanding the lighter the better especially when you hit the mud trails...
For the most part probably so. This is on wide 40 inch tires so the weight is spread out a bit more. Still not an ideal vehicle for tight trails unless you dont care about scratching the paint. For 100k + I think most would care, though.
@@SwellRunner - I'm calling BS on that mileage. That was "maybe" mileage on my stock Power Wagon on the OEM tires. Empty. Now loaded with a Four Wheel Camper in the bed, step sliders, rear dual swing bumper, Thuren front bumper, 35's (37+ juice ain't worth the off-road squeeze in my experience here in AZ, UT and MX - front radius arms still are your Achilles heel off shelves or large obstacles. Another inch of height doesn't buy much, and everything else suffers. Braking, acceleration unless re-geared, unsprung mass, rotational mass, on and on) I get 10 running 75. Around town, I average 12. That figured by pencil an paper, not the EVIC which is optimistic, always. Anyway, cool truck, use it the way I use mine, desert pinstripes and all (white is very forgiving) and you will get to some cool remote places that will leave Jeep owners scratching their heads.
More than that. And being able to buy something like this doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years of good financial decisions to do something like that
Just the stock truck alone with some(not all) options is a solid 80k give or take. 20k for the baseline prospector XL package. He has another 15k or more in optional equipment selected. My guess is 125k all said and done. It looks amazing and I would also love to own one, and can afford one. It is just a hard pill to swallow.
@@SwellRunner it's true!! I LOVE everything you have done and understand that sometimes, we want what we want!! Kinda like the episode from your 4runner days of how people were giving you a hard time for upgrading/changing "your" rig!! Haters will always hate Jason!! Keep doing you cuz "you" is authentic through and through!! Keep up the great videos, or don't, I will respect it.. Safe travels and God bless you Mr Koertge!!
Why?? What a money pit. My Gladiator will do everything and more than that huge boat for half the price. At some point it’s just having a new thing and paying exorbitant money for it. Geesh.
