By now their child is probaboy in their eighties. This is so weird. We are reading someones parents love letters. Although its so sweet its kind of like a cute romance novel
Do you ever get weirded out by the fact that everyone around you is constantly within their own mind and thinking a million secret thoughts and battling internal struggles just like you and that you're not the only one who thinks these things and that people around you aren't just faces, they're individuals with their own story to them- I think this series is a good representation of that
I don't get weirded out by that, but sometimes yeah I do randomly think about it and the magnitude of what humanity really is collectively, what it is to be human. This series definitely has a lot of very sonder provoking themes and content, you're right.
i’m not weirded out, but inspired by the fact that no one has the same thoughts and headspace as anyone else. when i think of something and then feel like albert einstein and the next day some pop star comes out with the same trend as me it makes me wonder if we’d be good friends bc we on the same brain wave
I know it's kind of controversial whether or not reading someone's personal entries are ethical or not, but there's something really beautiful about the rawness/authenticity (or so I hope) of this series where she gets to read into a glimpse of other people's lives.
I guess it is kind of a good thing, actually. When reading those letters and sharing them with the internet, but keeping their names private, kinda makes sure that they are not completely forgotten while still respecting their privacy.
iBarkBite lmaoooo i get your point but thats not what i was even thinking about when I said "romantic". Putting aside the fact that the man kept saying how he wants to "smash", there are other parts where he kept saying how he was excited to start a life with her, to live with her, how he was ready to be responsible for the pregnancy and all that, that is indeed romantic.
I think their child could still be alive because he/she would be about 5 years older than my grandparents(on my moms side) and they're both still alive
Maybe they didn't. I mean, this person who was selling the letters on ebay could've got them through so many ways and have no relation to the couple at all... One of my hunches it's pretty much that the letters were kept hidden on the attic, some cupboard or some place else and remained there forgotten. Someone who could have remodelled the house could've found it and sold it to a thrift shop or something and that's how the seller could've gotten it. I already posted a comment about a show I've seen with people also finding love letters and they've got to find the descendants and return it to them. Who knows if she could get lucky when trying to locate them too?
I found Dan slightly annoying. Lucy clearly said that they should wait but he kept using sweet words to try and get her to give him what he wants. At least at the end it seems like they were happy.
Astro Bear it used to be like that at that time and it was mostly a woman does what the man tells her to like women wouldn’t have that much say to their opinions on not having a child and having one it was the man
If this was a series...I would actually invest time into it. Also, isn't it fascinating that these once felt emotions are now lost in time and remnants of that period is on slouchy paper. What you ever feel or go through will be lost in time, which makes you appreciate that moment that much more.
Remember when i read my grandparents love letters from when my grandfather was in the military in 1948. My grandmother is very romantic but my grandfather is just complaining about how he needs ciggarets xD
yea that’s what i was thinking the vocabulary wasnt so different then it blows my mind. i feel like going back in time reading ppls letters or diaries from so long ago makes u go back in time
Okay so you have their full names. WHY DON'T YOU GO AND DO SOME RESEARCH ON THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM????????????? I think we need to know and deserve answers.
Wished the last letter would've been: My darlin' baby girl, this is my last letter to you because tomorrow I can leave the hospital and start our new life together in the house we have always dreamed of with our sweet little treasure. Excited to see you and loving you always, your darling Dan.
You should see if you can find more information on "Daniel" and "Lucy". Maybe the addresses can help you get an identity so you can find information on them through records and see if they ever got married, had their baby, or if Daniel survived..
The fact that she has both sets of letters could mean he recovered and they got to be together... or that he died and she was given her letters back by his family after they cleaned his things out of his room at the sanitarium. As much as I hate it, I'm going to guess it was the latter, as tuberculosis was not treated with antibiotics until 1945. While T.B. could take quite a long time to kill some patients, the fact that it was only 1930 and he's already getting emaciated from it (the reason it was called "consumption"), does not bode well for a happy ending...
ItsKate yeah my bf calls me babe. "Hey Babe." Once he said "Hey Bady" then he said "I meant babe" I was like yeah that makes more sense bc u always call me babe.
I myself believe in chastity, but you have to think - if you were terminally ill, and madly in love with someone who you might not live to marry, you might see that as the only other way of consummating your love to them? I cannot even imagine
judsnowhere lol That can take a huge turn in your English exam so if she didn’t knew and it wasn’t just a simple mistake it was probably good she said something
ashleyplus3 Why would you let ANYONE lick your face? And as she said in the video you can't get TB from kissing so you wouldn't get it if they licked your face
Becca Brown actually TB is highly contagious...it is contracted by sputum and dropletts in the air. You most certainly can get TB from kissing. I am a nurse. Hence the germaphobia. 👍
i loved this. please do more. id rather her have the letter and cherish them and take care of them, than them being burnt and lost forever :( idk, this was so sweet and so fascinating. and those letter meant the world to those people so im so happy you have them and theyre safe.
Why is everyone commenting how weird this is? This is so interesting and Its nice to hear people, being nice and in love with each other. Gives me hope and joy! :) Love this series, keep it going!!!:) Even if you do repeats and do part 2's or whatever. This is fun and a refreshing type of video. Very "original" type creativity.
I'd make sense that the family sold the letters. If they were sold, chances are that the family didn't want the memories. Presumably because "Dan" passed away. Or maybe they all passed away due to the same sickness that got a hold of "Dan".
