Best way to ever spend $6.9M. I bought a freaking tank on marketplace but had no idea it was in the UK so we flew there to drive it before it comes to the US. I've wanted this since I was 3.
The minutes of dialogue and “shop talk” was refreshing and a different side to your videos, literally could not stop watching this shop talk between y’all. Awesome job! And nice tank!
I could listen to that shit all day reminds me of when me and my friends get together to work on projects sadly we've all gotten pretty busy so it hasn't happened in a while good memories though
RU-vid has hidden your channel from me for years. I discovered it because lately I've been opening the site in incognito mode to see different things to the crap it recommends. What a gem of a channel and Cody seems like a genuine guy. The bit near the end talking about coming from essentially nothing was a quick recap for me. I also hate clickbait wit a fiery passion so it's nice to see someone with video titles that are accurate even if I see them and think, "no way" like throwing school buses.
Yep! Good Ole American freedom run by massive global interests to control what you see. I have a friend in Germany that I will send links to certain things and they are dead links to him. Not allowed. Yet youtube is an American company.
This guy is a true legend. Imagine staying so layed back about whilst Cody comes to your house runs your trees over makes days of work for you gets the chieftain track ripped off drives over an old German war relic. What a legend the fact that this is even possible is amazing.
That was not german war relic, but actually GAZ-69 - a soviet army 4x4 truck, just like Jeep in US army. It's rather common vehicle and doesn't worth much.
I loved the last few minutes. A few grubby dudes shooting it in the shop, talking about tanks. I was smiling the whole time like I was there with y'all!
If anyone wants to know, this is a cheiftan mk.10 the difference from the earlier models is the 2 bulks on the turret which is added armor and the tank also has a slightly more powerful engine, still slow compared to other main battle tanks from that era
@@SledgeHammerMindOpeneryou can recognise older tanks by how they look. Most were a bit round, often very noisy engines, and new tanks generally are very angular, sharp edges everywhere (especially front), and somewhat cleaner designs. Probably best to know how Challenger, Abrams, Leopard, Leclerc and T-90 (/80/72) look like if you want to be able to recognise basically like 80% of tanks you're gonna see anywhere in the world. Polish now are buying K2 tanks from Korea, they basically look like Leopards 2A4 (although they are a separate constitution). There is also some Italian stuff and Chinese and Japanese stuff but those are not seen outside of their countries tbh.
Honestly, my favourite ten minutes of this video is the last ten minutes, when Cody is at ease and it's just three dudes nerding out about tanks. That is pure, genuine enthusiasm
I really hope that this video is monetized because this is the third time I'm watching it all the way through. It's just really enjoyable to see someone literally buy a tank. I know I'm never going to get to buy one because by the time I have enough money to there's no way the US is going to allow it. But I'm really happy that you're doing everything that you're doing because now I don't ever need to. So thank you
hes pretty knowledgeable yes, but I did pick up on a few things that he missed on the gyroscopics of the barrel and the general info on the challenger 3
@@NotAnonymousNo80014 nah the t-34 is too good to destroy and also im not so suee about the safety of it since it would be more dangerous to be shot at by a 50 in the t34
So many stories from time served on Chieftains. That howling engine at night, in a pitch dark wood as it's getting closer to your hide, we used to chase the poor bloody infantry with them, but then during live firing ex they would shoot our optics out! We would also tell some new infantry lads that the OTT (onboard Tank Telephone) could be used to call home, the commander would act as the telephone operator and keep em their for ages! Last one, we had one of the loader/operators (loading rounds into the breach/radio op) who's leg slipped off the guard rail as the turret was being powered round, it broke his leg into 16 fracture points and the only way to get it out was to slowly hand traverse the turret back to get him out of the turret! Tanks for the memories!
I have watched every episode you have but this is one of my favorite. I like the fact that you are big hearted, I mean u gave that guy yo pickup, that is golden. I wish I could meet you bro and just give you a hug... Yo grate and ignore criticism, it shows that yo far ahead. I always say if you run a business and no one negatively criticizes it, just know yo not good and yo nothing at all. It's called too much competition for the critics. Keep it up
@@LazyPinkHoodieKid the chieftain with the Leyland l60 multifuel engine had a breakdown rate of 90% but that was just the fact leyland couldn't make a quality product, the tank its self otherwise was one of if not the best tank at the time
The guys name is Joe Hewes, and he does love these things, he got a channel called Mr. Hewes where he does good quality videos of restoring many types of tanks and other military equpiment.
@@ttpechon2535 But this tank is not a m1 abrams i may be wrong but the engine in this video look like a diesel engine and the abrams have gas turbine engine .
@@SledgeHammerMindOpener It's a Cheiftan, I never said anything about an Abrams, I think in this vid one of the dudes said it was an Abrams, but hes just saying that because it's painted tan and he dont know his tanks.
@@ttpechon2535 I didn't say you said it is an abrams, i did not see the full video and at the begining they were speaking about an abrams . i was seeking to find if i was not wrong that's all.
its super hard to get into your content but i have started to get into it as soon as you open up about your up bringing and not being well off. to work your way up to what you are now is mad inspiring.
You could theoretically import it as fully functional to the USA Unfortunately you have to go through registering it as a destructive device, and go through the lengthy paperwork witch could take at least a year and change, and submit a fingerprints and tax stamp and paperwork It's well worth it because the value goes up tremendously
I love the fpsrussia dig. My child was watching this(wholesome quality content) and the entire time you were talking about baby “tanks” going through drive thrus I was telling my husband they were fpsrussia digs, then you said it. Made my night. My brother worked with Kyle Myers in his prime until his murder.
You're having the authentic military tank driver experience when you're spending as much time fixing and maintaining the thing and getting the thing unstuck as you are driving it.
The guy you bought it from was so cool and knowledgeable. To think there's a young tank wiz out there with a whole farm of military vehicles is badass, and you pretty much solidified his passion as he's helped you with your childhood dream.
i mean a hilux can last longer with cody then a tank, i mean even doh a tank runs over a tree i dont see a hilux do that, you know what he needs a LIFT kit for the tank lol
British. Chieftain. tanks were powered by. engines. provided by British. leyland and with anything British Leyland does its unreliable as fuck so makes sense
That's the goal to be someone: all from zero, starting from scratch. Not too many people understand, and maybe it's more ok like that. Congrats man, same personality in the Way of success
The best thing I like most about Cody, is he’s true to himself. It’s hard to find genuine RU-vidrs nowadays. Congrats on the tank Cody, the chieftain is a badass tank.
I love this guy he knows that land doesn't necessarily mean money just like my family we got a lot of land but that's just because of homesteads and not money we are poor as can be sadly
Loved the ending of the video with y’all just having a great convo about things that y’all like. It’s cool to see genuine people having good conversations with each other. Most celebrities don’t do things like this so thank you.
Hire that Brit tank mechanic, and bring him back to Tennessee. Dude seems like he'd fit right in. He'd be like the crazy smart tech guy on the team in a bank heist movie.
Check out Andrew Camarata…. Dude can make a 2 hour video about clearing a road and it’s just sick. He bought a mountain too. And built a castle. Not the same type of shit as Whistlin Diesel but dude can film some shit.
Well holy shitballs. I was expecting DemoRanch to get a tank before anyone but you went and did it. Congratulations. Cant wait to see you drive through buildings with that.
Well, cabovers are an endangered species of truck in the US. There are no new cabover model there in more or less 20 years, the last new cabover model being the Freightliner Argosy.
damn, it's absolutely great that you included that entire conversation there at the end. I felt like I was there. that man is a whole river of information.
Always several hilarious lines in these videos but my favorite in this one was, “I don’t want to be here any longer than I have to because you can’t own more than 75 thousand guns” This guy is a superstar. Never apologize for your success dude, no one can possibly understand the stress that comes with making such epic content, consistently.
Can we take a minute to appreciate how fast he set the camera down to give his fan some attention?! “Are you whistlindiesel?” Right away set the camera down and said yea whats up!! Full attention went to his fan. Gotta love it.. Humble as can be!
I learned something from every video i have watched, i have become a pilot, a firefighter, and now a tank operator. Except i really want a tank. I think if i title enough videos whistlindiesel youtube may give me that sweet youtube money to buy myself a tank
Seeing him get stuck and then how long it took to get unstuck and repaired really shows the kind of hell tank crews would go through to keep up such a colossal war machine… can’t wait to see how it holds up to the man who can break anything
I've changed pads and tracks on Bradley Fighting Vehicles and I can tell you in ideal conditions that shit is rough. I can't imagine doing in the woods lol. Fuck that.
I used to drive Mk.11's like that one for a living. They were still being used as front-line gun tanks until 1992 (some units retained a few until much later too) and in that version you have exactly the same gun, gun control kit and Thermal Observation and Gunnery Sights (TOGS was not IR, it was MUCH better) as the newer Challenger 1 MBT, (the seller was in error though, Chally 2 does not share the same gun and it has completely more modern fire control kit) with a half awake crew a Mk.11 Chieftain could still spoil anything on the battlefields morning and the L11A5 120mm rifled gun is still the record holder for the longest direct Tank v Tank kill in combat. A few words of advice lads, regular halt parades (check your track tension and adjust manually) always rev the engine down after use for cool off, don't just kill switch it immediately off, the Leyland L60 in the back is her Achilles heel sadly so treat it gently where you can, it's basically a badly made copy of the WWII German Jumo 207 aero diesel engine. Oh the most important thing, NEVER run the L60 past 2500 RPM, as you can get an engine runaway, where basically it will rev itself to destruction (even if you kill the power, it will keep going) and you don't want to be near the wagon if the lump goes Super Nova in the back. We were instructed in the event of a runaway, aim the wagon up a hill and let the crew bail out., because when the engine goes boom you don't want to be in the vicinity - TRUST ME! Oh and ask any Chieftain crew what the scariest job was, they should answer replacing the suspension spring pack - changing those is the best laxative known to man, done wrong the nested springs will go off like an artillery round and fly down range with bits of whoever was stood in front of them attached!
@@Theo_Jakobsen thanks my first proper job out of school in the late 1980's was to join the army at 17 years of age and drive these bad boys. I can still remember every oil level and spanner (wrench) size on the old girls to this day. For the record 7/16" and 5/64" will get you through most of your day!
Pete - I was mech infantry (M113A3s) so I know that you know how important it is for them to go over this vic with a hammer to check for soft spots in the armor :P
I watched some of Whistlin Diesel's vids but this is just next level like dude doesnt give a fuck I love it. He's literally every teenage boy with millions of dollars just living out his dream awesome to watch
It has always bothered me seeing these i bought a tank videos and it was an APC or a handmade bullshit vehicle. You actually got a tank, props homie. FpsRussia had it right back in the day considering he did this 12 years ago but hey. It would be interesting to see where his channel would have gone if he didn't get raided by the ATF
I wish they would bring him back, I miss our Professional Russian. What we need now is a Professional Terrorist, like some Gomer doing the FPS stuff but yelling ALLAH!!! Lol
I love how that young bloke strikes me as thre exact guy who would have been driving and maintaining the tanks during the wars back in the day, its like he was born in the wrong generation, so cool
@@gorbdonfreeming What was the old saw about the Chieftain? "A battle winning weapon...as long as it breaks down in the right location". Good luck keeping that beast running, if anyone can do it, I reckon you can.
