Great video for those looking for a decorated cake, yet minimizing the cost. Just curious: Is there a rule-of-thumb regarding whether or not cake decorations should be edible? I've always liked eating the flowers, lol.Thanks.

Many years ago, I bought a candle fake cake from QVC. It is small, I am guessing about the size of the top layer of the cakes you have shown here. It was a fake coconut cake. I still have it as I have never lighted it to use as a candle. It had silk flowers and a ribbon on top to decorate it. Recently I replaced that with what was basically a wedding corsage I found at Hobby Lobby (silk flowers again) as the flowers had faded. I do think someone could make a thriving business making candle miniatures of people's wedding cakes to keep as a memento. I also think it would be fun to have the top layer as a candle for the couple to take home to keep as freezing the cake to eat on first anniversary lol does not work that well. I say forget that and have a little candle cake topper to keep as long as you do not light it!

On the last Downton Abbey movie, they said Tom's and Lucy's cake was fake minus the top layer. They did ice the fake layers which were carboard to make it look legit.
