As a long time subscriber this video was a huge relief! There were many videos years ago where James said he would never sell the Gallardo and I’m happy to see he is sticking to his word. Congrats on the yellow Gallardo - hope it works out great as a parts car!
@@Porscheontop You just randomly came across my all time favourite youtuber that I've been watching and basically idolising for a decade? Man. I'm considering holidaying in the US (I'm from Australia) just so I can do a Stradman tour of all the locations he visits. Obviously not his house as that's a clear violation of his personal privacy but all the fast food, the dealerships, the workshops, Clayton and Faith's shop. It'd just be so surreal to see all that stuff in person. You're a lucky dude. James might just be the nicest guy on RU-vid.
@@madmanau8730 I randomly bumped into him. Lol. Yeah man, Utah is an amazing place to live. Been here all 37 years of my life. Definitely not a bad place to visit. And yeah, no creepin on peoples privacy.
Hey strad I was the guy you saw in the ranger the other day… Man that aventador is sick in person. I saw your last video and saw how different the one wheel was on the 812. My dad does powder coating up in West Jordan and I’m positive he can get it done right as he’s the best man I know with colors! Super cool seeing you and the carbon fiber beast in person ✌️
James, for what it's worth, I'm really glad you're ditching the TT's on the Gallardo. That car is truly special and it doesn't need turbos to be what it is to you and me. Yes, it's special to me too. I've been here since 80k subscribers. If it weren't for this car, I'm afraid you probably never would have done RU-vid full time. I'm grateful for you, your parents, your Gallardo, and every decision you've ever made that lead us to this moment. Love you buddy!
Came here to say this. I found him since his first ever uploads but what really got me started watching every video as soon as they drop was the orange Lamborghini. I’ve watched every single video since then. I 100% agree with his decision to do what he is doing to the car. It’s literally a priceless piece of sentimental machinery to him so even though he has to buy a whole parts car just to get it back to stock it’s totally worth it to have his OG car back to enjoy forever. Really hate that the car got destroyed by the turbo shop but it’s kinda strange the way it turned out. Almost as if the car was like “don’t change me! keep me the way I was to preserve my nostalgic memory”
DDE Dave has had that VF Engineering supercharger on his car for years now and has had zero issues with it! Boost doesnt have to be from turbos ya know a blower does the trick also and VF has that game on lock with thier kits. But a car that has been gone through like this one has i can one thousand percent see why nobody wants to take it on. Liability is insane!! Glad its still goimg to be around tho!!!!
the 2nd generation gallardo is a 5.2 liter v10 strads car is a 5.0 liter the 5.0 liter is the worst engine to add superchargers/twin turbos while the 5.2 liter is a really good reliable engine also used in the audi R8 (v10) and the huracan so really superchargers are also the same as any twin turbo kits for a 5.0 liter v10
Hi James aka @TheStradman. I have been following your channel for a long time and wait to see your next video everytime. I wanted to share a thought about your Gallardo, while I was disheartened to not see the twin turbo work out, i feel it could become a great car to put up on your wall. Just sharing my thought. Best wishes to you.
So glad were coming back to the OG would be amazing to see her back in action. Honestly putting it back to stock is the best factory Reset, plus with doing so if you decided hey i wanna make the best worst financial decision Round 2 you could dump 50-60K by going to a shop that's guaranteed to treat her with respect hypothetically like Gintani. At least if you did decide later on you'd be back to OEM without all the headaches and legalities involved to back botched work. When in doubt STRAD figures it out! your a legend James
james, put the sentimental car on the wall. retire her, and cherish her. drive the yellow on into the ground, or sell it in 6 months. amazing content as always
Glad the Gallardo is going back the OG Stradman days but if it’s unrepairable, it should go up on the wall since it is a historical piece of the channel.
After you get everything you need from the gallardo spyder fix and swap the og gallardos engine into the spyder and buy everything else to fix the spyder, with the og gallardo having a new engine you can finally get it tt'd
it's prolly gonna be difficult, using an automatic Gallardo as a parts car for a gated manual Gallardo. ScrapLife Garage recently did a manual-swap on a fire-destroyed Dodge Demon and he said it was difficult because of the work needed on the ECU and the engine itself.
@@joe13c00l2 It's the same transmission, E-Gear's are automated manuals, not automatics. All he has to do is remove all the E-Gear stuff from it and it's essentially a manual.
Okay now here’s the funny thing. B rouge was who he originally gave the car to. They didn’t give it back to him for 4 years. They really screwed up the car.
James, I've been watching since you got the Galardo. I've seen the color changes and everything in between. I've watched your story since the days of sleeping in your Audi TT. It's an incredible story, and the car is part of it. It's worth saving. Although seeing them side by side... I would have such a hard time not just fixing the "OG" and keeping them both. 😂 Thinking back to the beginning to now, your Dad would be so proud. Congratulations, buddy! You earned it!
A supercharger would be a nice on your Lambo……if they don’t make one then LS swap it…..that should miff the purist. Put your damaged Lambo engine on that shelf next to your stairs(maybe dress the engine up a bit).
I'd LOVE to see the Gallardo back to stock. When you picked up the Gallardo, that's the first video I ever watched on this channel. I haven't missed one since. It feels like this car really 'started' your RU-vid career. Not only do I love the Gallardo in general, I love this spec and the adventures you've had with it. It deserves to go on new adventures. Good luck on the conversion back to stock. Can't wait to see it on the channel again!
Time to call Mat Armstrong, he's about to be even more super-experienced on these - it would be great content, plus a sprinkling of Freddie Tavarish and you're golden.
Why not swap the 2 motors. Put the built blown one in the yellow galardo then the new working motor into the old one. Then u have a galardo spider to build properly with any extra cash you have, you have a almost stock orange galardo. Just a thought
Thanks for the years of entertainment! I always enjoy a strad video! I hope that the narration style video gets to stick around if it was sustainable! I thought it really was a cool new vibe!
Option 1. Use it as decoration Option 2. (Better one) Use it as a ultimate project car and dump a wild motor in it that doesn't have to be v10. Basically make of it what original was supposed to be, but without motor restrictions and go with the best option overall, not just best v10 option. It can be v12 or supercharged v8... the possibilities are endless
i really believe OG cars should be driven, and not used for decoration. so thats not an option. engine-swapping his very first supercar that is worth memories with a non-gallardo motor? hell naw, thats outta the window too.
I would consider manual swapping the yellow Gallardo and making the OG nice wall art or a crazy build. You're going to spend way more than it's worth for two Frankenstein cars with less value as a result. Happy to see an update on the Gallardo though!
I used to think because you're a hyper person that you did crack In all fairness you're just hyper and I came to like that I've been following you since your honda days, and I truly believe of all the car youtubers out there you deserve all you achieved and a thousand times more. You're hard working, you're not pretentious and you're very down to earth I wish you more and more success You deserve it
Put the orange Gallardo on the wall with the engine (sans turbo kit) and transmission on the display ledge by the stairs. It defines your journey in a way no other car can, which makes it perfect to be the car immortalized on the wall. Then just sell the yellow car. Side note: putting the yellow car on the wall and keeping the interior dusted would be a nightmare.
So glad your going to bring the OG back to life. Behind pops lambo it’s my favorite car you have. Glad it’s not only going to be mechanically restored but also some nice and new upgrades.
THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!! They look so good together. And man... driving that OG Gallardo Spyder is the most fun I've had in a car in the entire last year!!
Don't feel bad man! Even Mat Armstrong did the same thing to fix Marcus Rashford's mansory Rolls Royce. I seriously can't wait to see the OG back on the road! We don't need the Twin Turbo kit when we have the greatest sounding v10 in the back!❤
If you had the engine inspected at an engine shop, provided everything is good, mechanically all it should need is stock compression pistons. For fuel delivery, I imagine stock injectors should do the trick. When it comes to boost, with everything I've seen, you can't go wrong with VF Engineering.
There's honestly not much of a point in fixing the old car. Might as well just scrap the part value it's worth and keep the outer shell for a wall. That way, you can avoid having to spend even more money trying to fix it. Yellow one works just fine so enjoy it!
Just throwing it out there James, I've personally never seen anybody ever do a Lamborghini, or any mid-engine vehicle for that matter, with a Dodge HEMI engine, maybe a spare Demon crate somewhere or some donor Hellcat, maybe even a Hellephant like the one you put in your Gladiator a while back, not even entirely sure if it's possible? Mating the engine to the trans/older electronics and finding a suitable trans for the build and all that jazz. But I'd say it'd be worth a go to at least see if it's possible, and if all turns out successful, you'll end up with a killer creation that you could show off whenever the next SEMA show is, I don't even think you can argue the fact that this wouldn't be super cool if it ended up working out properly 😂 Brownie points for bagging yourself a Spyder too, can't even imagine how something like that would sound under an overpass with the roof down 😮😁💛
Well he wants to put a gallardo on the wall since its the “hero” car so its way cheaper to buy one to use as parts and store instead of buying a wreaked one nd tryna fix the body on that so it looks good on display
I'm glad its going back to stock. I was saddened when you announced you were going to twin turbo it in the first place. It's what started it all, I wanted to leave it as it is
You pulled out in front up me when you were leaving Chase Bank in this video!! Did you hear me honking??? Good to see you driving around, Ive seen you a few times now :) the pink wheels are so sick!!
Hey James, have you thought about making a budget fun video? Something like a cheapy c5 or c6 corvette that you spend a few videos pimping out the interior, building the engine, etc.? I think it could be a pretty banger series
would it be possable to just take the body of the orange one and put it on the frame of the yallow one? or would that not work because of the drop top?
Originally sending that car to Chicago was one of your biggest problems. I’m really hoping you took the company to court and got your money back and then some for all the parts they kept and sold. We all know they kept your car for that long because they were driving it around as if it were their own. Anyway they don’t need to be allowed to get away with what they’ve done. So sad to see the working car getting taken apart to save another.
I am am OG subscriber. I’ve watched every single video since your buying a lambos at age 26 video. I mean, EVERY SINGLE video. So seeing this brings me joy. I’m still driving my 1st car (VW polo) and this April makes it 4 years. It’s coming to its end with so much wrong with it where it’s not feasible financially anymore. I took a vow for years that I won’t ever sell this car because I too have so many emotions and memories with this car. I waited YEARS as a child until I could drive. The day i got a driving license was a sad day because it meant no more driving lessons, and now I need to save up for a car. I saved for over a year and a half to buy my car. And recently I had to come to terms with the fact that I may just need to get rid of it. But after seeing this, and remembering your story from all these years I just can’t help but think to persist, get my business properly off the ground and pay to keep the car. Hearing your plans to get the gallardo back, and buying a parts car. Yes you’re crazy. But you’re my kind of crazy because sometimes, logic is boring. And emotional decisions will bring you lifetime of joy. You’re a genius. Lots of love
if I was in the same situation I would have two options: 1) Take out everything out of the OG and then get it up to the wall and make the engine my coffee table 2) Spend however much money I need so I can get it working either stock or twin turbo because it is OG, would never sell it
It's the shops fault, there are a couple TT 1st gen Gallardo's out there still pretty reliable that were built years ago, mostly UGR cars. But even UGR stopped building TT 1st gen Gallardo's, I think their last one was built not long after James dropped his off. Besides, you can't supercharge the 5.0 V10, only the 5.2 like Dave's Squadra Corse or Huracan's.
VF engineering supercharger kit is the way to go . Twin turbo a 427 for drag racing is fine . Single cam bullet proof V8 that's bigger than Lamborghini's V10 and V12 . That's why even if I was rich , I would buy a Corvette . Not a problematic Supercar that I would be scared to drive .
@MatArmstrong will soon be working on his Gallardo after his accident. You two should and @Tavarish should work on these together. That’s an amazing collab.
he wont do that to the original as that car has been with him till now and he wants to restore it to its former glory and drive it again considering how long he has had it and the connection he has to it it makes sense why he doesent want to wall it, he might however wall the convertaible after the swap has been done and i agree with this decision becuase its the origial it should stay and be reformed back to its older glory and you can tell he loves the car as he is essentaily putting better specs on the car
You haven't lost your mind, James. Been watching since all you had was the Gallardo. Don't remember which of yours was my first video, but I was subscribed and remember watching "money can't buy you happiness, but I'd rather be broke and crying in a Lamborghini than a Honda Accord". Or something like that. When you got laid off then drove home in the Gallardo "oh wait, I'd better slow down, I actually can't afford a speeding ticket" 😂
While its sad that the twin turbo's in the Gallardo are getting removed, a naturally aspirated Gallardo has that voice and it sounds good going down the road.
Dude you could try super charging the Galerado super chargers are much easier to install and it won’t take to long to get your car back afterwards plus it would be cheaper and you could put a v8 in the convertible and turn it into a truck car it would be cool to see some track racing on the channel and other motorsports stuff
So the yellow car is the cat that’s going on the wall after it’s “gutted” along with the possibility of an engine for a coffee table, the living room will be phenomenal
