I BOUGHT VOLKSWAGEN TDI DIESEL WITH HALF A MILLION MILES
Hey guys! Welcome to my first uploaded video on RU-vid. Today I’m showing my high mileage Volkswagen Jetta TDI diesel that I bought from a Copart salvage auction.
It’s all fixed up now and I’ve been driving it for the last couple weeks.
I explain all about it and some of the issues I ran into rebuilding this one.

Hey mate, Love your post. Great to see high miles Tdi's. I ran a Passat 130Tdi for 170k faultless kilometres, and a T5 Transporter 128kw Tdi for 365k km. Can't speak highly enough of these motors. I've heard of 1.9Tdi PD motors doing nearly 1million k's

I have a 2007 Audi A6 2.0 TDi, bought at 2 years old with 17,000 miles on the clock. Now done 310,000 miles, engine still good as new, never let me down. Oil consumption still negligible, fuel consumption still fantastic, body still almost pristine. The secret is best fuel, best oil, best servicing. These VW Audi group cars really are bullet-proof if you look after them.

Ever replaced the oil pump?

@@JPDevlin No, never had a problem with it. It's a BRE engine with the gear driven pump not chain driven. It also gets Cetatec in the oil, which is fantastic stuff. (Look it up if you've not heard of it).

Make sure you fuel your car in commercial areas with high truck traffic.

@@codyhusssalvagerebuilder6330 For sure. I have a 2013 TDI and compared to anything Japanese or Korean, it feels STABLE and glued to the road. Not like a cardboard box called Honda.

Don't be afraid of high mileage engine. Why? Because you can always rebuild your engine or put new engine with new pistons new craftshaft fresh again you don't need new car you'll save more money!

I have a 2015 Golf TDI, bought new. Only have 49k miles on it. Looove my TDI. Even after all the emissions updates, I still get about 50 mpg highway. Folks on the internet seem to hate VW diesels and I can't figure out why. I am hoping to get at least 300k miles out of it.

They can run forever and get good mpgs... they just get a bad rep for being dirty. I have a 2017 Chevy Colorado 2.8 diesel with 191000 miles and i run Howes diesel treatment in every other tank... it still runs great.

That's nothing mate iv a 2001 toyota corolla 1.4vvti that currently had 812 thousand miles..currently in the Highlands of Scotland and still going strong

I have a 5 speed 2.0L TDI model with 180K on the clock. those TDI engines never seem to breakdown.

But scotty will still say: its a vw u will need to replace an ac compressor because they are notorious to have problems, but on the other side it start faster then his toyotas with less then a half of this miles. This engines are very reliable and can run and run and run, without consuming much oil, even if u were doing oil changes every 10k miles.

Scotty loves talking out of his ass. But, at least he admitted more than once that TDIs arent bad and can last. He never mentions when Toyota fucks up, but trashes VW when a wiper arm is defective. Not a reliable source of info from that guy.

@@bmw803 I agree. He knows what he's talking about, but uses his knowledge in an incredibly biased way. Yes, VWs will cost more to own than Toyotas. But you're right, he never acknowledges Toyota's faults.

@RickReviews And for some reason a faulty wiper means a pile of junk, but a cracked engine block on a Toyota means , "nothing's perfect". What a moron he can be.

Did you ever check to make sure all the boost pipes are still attached? I love to see if the engine timing is where is should be, after finally adjusting my engine timing the economy went up a lot.

Did you check the numbers on whether it is the original engine block and transmission? Do you happen to know whether it has had a DMF and/or camshaft put in it?

I didn’t get any maintenance records with it, I didn’t dig that far into it, the autocheck said it was a one owner, and my VCDS confirmed the miles were correct.
