Episode 259 of Mike Finnegan's Garage was so fun to make! Joe Cole and I prepped my Chevy truck for a road trip to Cletus McFarland's Bristol 1000 oval track race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The we road tripped the C10 and my Cummins-Swapped '73 Chevy Squarebody to the race. Of course the trip did not go smoothly but the race did. I ended up beating 23 other drivers and finished in 8th Place. Not a bad result for a dude with very little wheel-to-wheel racing experience. Hope you enjoy this video and please tell your friends about it.
If you'd like more info on that front rollpan we installed in this video then go here: www.holley.com/products/exter...

Thanks!

Cleetus has taken every RU-vidr that becomes a part of his race, and just skyrockets them. He has done so much for motorsports, and help to boost many great careers for people that it is insane. The Bristol 1000 is becoming the Superbowl of RU-vid. The access to the behind the scenes is great, and to see each youtubers prospective makes it even more enjoyable. In your bell housing also add a drain hole on the bottom so any leaky fluids can get out without having to loosen bolts. Plus it will give you an indicator of a problem BEFORE the clutch bathes in fluids.

I'd say you missed the last couple videos on this truck then. 😂 Mr Finnegan needs absolutely no help destroying clutches. In fact, he needs someone to help him stop destroying them, because every third or fourth episode is about him destroying a clutch on one vehicle or another 🤣 it kills me, at 5 minutes sharp you can see the transmission blowing fluid from where the lines go in when they started it up. I thought immediately the remote bleeder line he has on there. Turns out the line from the master in pretty much the same spot. What I can't figure is how they missed it, with video evidence, and days in advance of the trip. A punch in the crotch for sure

Quick tip mike, drill an 1/8 or smaller pilot prior to using the rotobroach. The pilot size is 1/8” on the tool. Typically i drill slightly under 1/8 to prevent the bit from walking any in the event your 1/8” bit egged the hole. Tricks of the trade 👍🏼

Those Blair tools "mini hole saw bits" are intended for drilling out factory spot welds. The center point is spring loaded for helping with centering, while the purpose of the hole-saw looking outter circumference is meant to cut just the outter thin layer of a factory welded sheet metal separating it from the underneath layer & in theory leaving the bottom sheet metal layer uncut.

As far as the throw out bearing. On myShelby Cobra I kept it simple and used a slave cylinder that is on the exterior of the bell housing. @@araybeezy1653 well Mike has shown what a headache they really are. Yes you don’t have to deal with a mechanical arm but I see no other benefits of a hydraulic clutch throw out bearing. @lasskinn474

@philbert006
@philbert006 10 месяцев назад
@@morganleblanc730good on you. Toyota figured it out 50 or so years ago. And Honda used mechanical/cable operated clutches forever. At 300k miles or so, you might have to take up some slack because the cable stretched, and it's possible though unlikely to break one. But super quick and easy to replace. Go back to 5 minutes exactly in the video, and you can see the thing blow fluid when they started it. Way back before all the incorrect repairs. I immediately said to my cat look at that, bet that remote bleeder or the line from the master is the problem. Could have saved them every bit of trouble related to it had they noticed that. What a punch in the crotch
